《Raising Rio》29| realisations

Packing her suitcase after a day, which was meant to be a week long trip was not what the young teenager expected. Rio was not complaining one bit, however the only thing she could complain about altogether was that ever since they left the restaurant, Carson had not made an attempt to speak to her.
That hurt Rio immensely.
When they had returned to their penthouse they saw both her Nona and Popo sat on the couch watching the television set in true Nona and Popo style, luckily her father's soldiers had found and rescued them.
Her grandparents knew she could handle her own, therefore made no complaint when they brought them back to the penthouse-knowing if they where in line of fire, they could somehow be used as bait.
A knock at Rio and Carson's suite made Rio let out a weak 'come in' to which the door opened and revealed her now calm boyfriend.
Rio didn't make the effort to speak, her silence only provoking Carson to have the first word. As petty as it is, Rio is well-known for holding her grudges and moods, Carson experiencing them first hand.
With a sigh Carson edged towards the corner of the bed closest to his girlfriend. "I'm not going to argue with you baby, I just want to have talk with you." He gently took her hands that fumbled with the zipper on the suitcase. "Is that alright with you?"
Rio's eyes softened at his tone with her, he was being surprisingly sweet with her despite her attempts of keeping a very important secret from him. "CJ you don't need to ask to talk with me, we are way past that now."
Pulling her hands towards him, Rio took that as the sign that he wanted her to sit on his lap, which Rio did within seconds.

As weird as it sounds, if Rio could she would try and get in his own skin if he offered, as she wanted to be as close to him as humanly possible.
"I'll begin first I know you have your struggles Riri, but why didn't you tell me about your family, that's very important and it would have explained a lot to myself on why you are so distant with your family." He kissed the back of her hand, wanting her to know that he is always going to be there for her both emotionally and physically.
"Honestly C, I couldn't give you an exact reason why;it just didn't come up in conversation and it's not really something I could just bring up out of the blue." The young girl shuffled in his lap-she was getting increasingly nervous and her nerves where getting the best of her.
Carson understood what she was saying, hell even though he didn't have a family, he knew what she was saying. It wasn't something she could just mention to him, he just hoped she was waiting for the right time to tell him. "Was you ever going to tell me?"
Rio's eyes widened in shock. Of course she was going to tell him, it was just a matter of it being the right time for her and if she was ready to confide in other people, other than her Nona and Popo about her family issues.
"Of course I was going to tell you eventually C, I just really didn't know how I could go about it in the right way and I'm sorry for not telling you any sooner and for you finding out in the wrong way." Riri spoke miserably and sunk her head into his neck-she was exhausted and just wanted to return home.

Once she got the okay from her father's doctor, she was going to be up and out of there faster than a dog with a bone. By being back, all this negative energy that surrounded her was suffocating her, however she was just thankful that Carson was by her side the whole time.
"I accept your apology baby, just don't do it again." Carson teasingly spoke, pointing his finger in a manner a mother would do to their child, to which Rio playfully pretended to bite his finger.
"Carry on Riri and you won't see what's coming for you next." CJ's face inched closer to Rio's and the young teenager mimicked his actions until their lips brushed ever so slightly.
"Bring it on big boy." Rio said almost breathlessly, Carson instantly captured her soft, heart-shaped lips in a greedy kiss, which led them both into the night.

Quantum Worlds (A LitRPG dark fantasy)
Find the missing VIP in an illegal game world. Kill the monsters. Return home for the paycheck. Decorated Marine commander, Damon Williams, never thought his latest mission would take place in a full-immersion world fighting monsters… but when a high-value VIP disappears after being stealthily transported to a banned MMORPG, he's their only hope. Damon must lead a group of rescuers into an unforgiving world infested with terrifying monsters and worse. Pain is real. Death is permanent. He and his crew must adapt quickly, trust each other, and fight to survive. And if all that's not bad enough, they'll also have to race against time to avoid the realm’s disintegration and mutation effects. Quantum Worlds features race and class designations, unique creatures, dungeon crawling, level progression and Easter eggs that reference video games and pop culture. This a dark fantasy, but it also has sprinklings of humor throughout. It is a multi-cast, multi-pov story. In many ways, it is a melding of one of my favorite novels, “The Stand”, with my favourite genre, LitRPG. I don’t espouse to be anywhere near Stephen King, but I would like to think that I have succeeded in many areas here (you’ll be the judge of that). So, this thriller-style story has a lot of build-up and lots of drama. When it hits the 100-page mark, it starts to take off with some intense action and fight scenes (although there are battles long before that). Nothing comes easy for this group of rescuers. And the dangers are very real. This saga is already over 100 chapters with more to come. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your reviews, comments, and feedback. Thanks. Chapters are uploaded every day at noon ET. Please do not repost this work anywhere without my written permission. Quantum Worlds is a participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge.
