《Raising Rio》28| love of your life

"What the fuck is going on here?" Franco boomed out, his hand hovered upon where his gun rested. He wasn't one to condone violence, since Rio witnessed his anger getting the best of him all those years ago, but he'd like to think he is a changed man after attending many family therapy sessions.
"Ask the love of your life, and my so called mother!" Rio spat, not once taking her eyes of Charlotte.
Franco's eyes flickered back and forth both from Rio and Charlotte, he was utterly confused and that wasn't from the debris that collapsed onto him all those minutes ago.
"Charlie, what is she on about? I don't understa-" Franco was interrupted by Charlotte's sobs and wails.
"It was me! I was the one who put Rio's name on the list all those years ago, it was me alright!" Charlotte frantically wailed. "I intended on removing it, I wanted to kill whoever created the list in the first instance, but every time I got close to discovering who it was and their location, they would relocate and change identity.
It's like they knew exactly what I was doing and how I was doing it!"
Rio lowered her gun from her mother's head in a state of realisation, she had to think about all the possible avenues. Was someone blackmailing and threatening her mother into doing such a disgusting crime? Or worst of all was she doing it in return for a high sum of money?
"No, no raise the gun it was just getting good!" Cassius groaned.
"Shut the fuck up!" Luca raised, aimed his gun at Cassius' thigh and fired with no hesitation. The loud noise made Rio and Carson flinch, their PTSD getting the best of them.
That story would be explained another time.

All three Esposito men turned towards Luca and rolled their eyes at him, Franco held out his hand motioning for Luca to give up his gun to him.
No more blood needed to be shed as much as it already had been, that was for the sake of the family. Handing his father his one and only gun, Luca crossed his arms in front of his chest in a sulk, whilst Franco put the gun into the waistband of his pants.
Suddenly, a swarm of guards who Rio and Carson could clearly identify as Franco's soldiers stormed throughout the remains of the restaurant, almost instantly they made their way towards Cassius, who made a sad attempt of trying to escape.
Even though his thigh was profusely pouring with blood, he tried to escape which led to him being pinned to the far by his head.
Even after removing Cassius from the premises, the Esposito family plus Carson didn't dare move a single inch. All of them very cautious on Rio and Charlotte's next moves.
As much as it would give Rio the satisfaction, she knew she didn't have the mentality or the heart to murder her own mother-it would destroy the Esposito family.
She clenched the gun tightly in her hands until her knuckles were white, however the familiar feeling of Carson's hands overtook her senses as he took the gun from her safely; making sure he put the safety back on.
"Rio, there's been enough drama as it is, just think rationally-I know you're angry but murdering your mother won't give you the closure that you need." Carson murmured in her ear.
Carson was still furious with Riri, but he knew full well she was having an inner battle with the demons that have haunted her for years and he couldn't just not help her.

Riri instantly turned her gaze onto Carson and stared into his eyes, after a couple of moments of silence Rio rolled her eyes and stormed away. "Once we've got Nona and Popo, we are getting the fuck outta here!"
Sorry for the delay, I was in a car crash a couple of weeks ago so I have been having to recover before I started to even think of writing another short chapter.
It's going to start getting juicy don't worry.

It is now 2021 and Homo Sapiens, Homo Subcinctus, Homo Variari, and Sapient Beasts have been living together in a hard-won harmony for 75 years. Or so they say. Atypical high-school student Kara Lowe has some serious doubts about that. While plagued by a mysterious Order that believes she should not exist, Kara must prove her right to life by destroying an age-old enemy with an unfortunate connection to her. The main character might seem to be talking to you at times. She is not. Things will make sense eventually. A quick note about religion: this novel takes place in an Alternate History setting. BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.

Does Hell Have an Adventurers' Guild?
I have decided to try out a different style. I cannot say much at this point, the story is mostly fantasy/romance and will evolve as I go, but it will involve an "adventurers' guild" in a demonic setting. MC will be a reincarnator becoming a denizen of hell, I will add vital description as I go. Gore will be used with reason, some bad words here and there and severe explicit or traumatizing content will be announced in advance, but it will not be the focus of the work.
