《Raising Rio》4| periods and rats

Once the brother's had heard about Rio's name being put onto the black list, they were heart broken. Rio was an innocent soul, they vowed to never let her have any involvement with the Mafia.
But, all their vows were full of shit.
On the other hand, Charlotte was hysterical. And that was shocking to say the least seen as though, she's the world's best assassin-who was know to be void of any emotion.
However, those rumours weren't true when it came to her baby girl.
Rio was oblivious to what was going on around her, as soon as her mummy began crying, Marcello rushed her into the playroom that had been built for her.
Her mother crying would only upset his little sister so, he did the best thing he could at the time.
"Marci?" The toddler tugged at Marcello's jeans, trying to get his attention. "Yes ladybug?" He kneeled down so, he was near enough at Rio's height.
"Mummy crying, why?" The two year old asked confused, Riri couldn't think of anything she had done wrong to upset her mummy, that's why she gathered the courage to ask one of her older brothers.
Marcello was speechless, he didn't know how to answer her question. He was too invested in trying to figure out how to remove Rio from the black list.
As well as this, he couldn't help but try to think of Mafia's who possibly held a grudge against the Esposito family.
"Err...well...you see..." Marcello stuttered, how he hoped Frankie or Luca would have been there save him.
Rio carried on looking at her brother in confusion. 'What is he doing?' the toddler thought to herself.
"Period!" Marcello blurted out. "Your mummy is on her period."
His little sister's nose scrunched up further in confusion. She hadn't a Scooby Doo what a period was.

"What's a peeriod?" Rio's doe eyes widened in interest. Would she ever go through a period or was it a grown up thing she pondered.
"Err...it's period baby girl and it's best if you ask your mummy about that." Marcello scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, what had he gotten himself into he mentally said to himself.
"Mummy!" Rio screeched and ran off in the direction her mummy was before, her brother could stop her.
"Shit, Rio!" Marcello shouted as he chased after his little monster. Never again, he mentally face palmed himself.
He ran into the kitchen to see Rio discussing something with an angry looking Charlotte.
The beast has been released.
"Mummy, what's a period?" Rio crawled into her mother's lap. Charlotte cradled her princess and attacked her with kisses.
"Why do you ask Riri?" Charlotte was intrigued about what things Marcello filled her pretty little head with whilst, they were in the playroom.
"Marci said that you were on your period." Rio spoke innocently, Charlie on the other hand spluttered in shock at the child's statement.
"Did he now baby?" She said sourly as she glared at Marcello, who then decided to run back out of the room.
Wait till I get his father on him, Charlie chuckled to herself at the thought whilst, she held her daughter close to her chest. Upon hearing that her daughter was on the black list, Charlotte was heartbroken.
She wanted to protect her baby from all the horror and nightmares in the world but, she felt as though she had failed her job when she lost her child in the trash can.
"Mumma, why you so sad?" Riri wiped her mother's tears and kissed her cheeks. Whenever Rio became upset, her mother used to wipe her tears, kiss her cheeks and sing her a song so, the little girl felt as though she had to do the same.

"It's nothing to worry your pretty little head about ladybug." Charlie stood up with Rio still in her arms, she walked them into the kitchen so, she could make Rio some lunch.
"Would you like me to sing you a song mummy? It make you happy!" Rio smiled at her mummy, she wanted to be like her mummy one day.
"I would love that baby!" Charlie said, as she made Rio her sandwich, as much as Charlie loved her daughter singing to her-she wanted to lock herself and her daughter away, the thoughts of the black list getting to her.
Meanwhile, as Charlie and Rio were spending time together-Franco and his two eldest sons were at his work compound, trying to access the black list with his technology experts.
He hadn't a clue who wanted to target his princess but, he promised that as soon as he found out he would do anything in his power to torture and kill the bastard.
He started thinking back to the ice cream parlour, when that perverted, old man approached Rio. Maybe he had some sources that would help him and his team.
The Italian mobster spoke with his second in command, Cassius about his suspicions. Cassius was one of the world's best hitmen-at a young age of eighteen, he already had his life figured out for him.
He had a stable job, with great income plus, he made some friends for life within his line of work.
He was happy.
"I agree with you, Boss." Cassius nodded his head as, he inspected the CCTV footage from the ice cream parlour. As Cass analysed the footage, he noticed some inscriptions on the elderly man's arm-he halted the video and zoomed in on them.
His chocolate, brown eyes set upon one certain inscription.
'Omertá'.
"Shit, boss you need to take a look at this." He spoke sternly. He zoomed in further at the image to ensure it was what he thought it was.
Instantly, Franco dropped the current file he was looking into and stormed over to the computer that, Cassius was sitting at.
His eyes widened as he realised what Cass had found.
Another Mafia gang knew of Rio and the Esposito family's whereabouts. Only close alliances who worked closely with the Italian Mafia, knew of the Esposito's location and the existence of Rio.
Other than that, nobody knew nothing if they wasn't close allies. Meaning, the Espositos had a rat.
A dirty, conniving rat.
A/N:
I am sorry for the short chapter, I have been having migraines over the past couple of days but, nothing a dose of Calpol won't fix.
