《Raising Rio》2| pinky promise

Rio didn't know how she ended up in her room, the last she remembered was that she was in her daddy's arms.
Before his holiday, Franco promised that as soon as he returned he would take his daughter to get ice cream, at the new ice cream parlour in the city.
The two year old may be only two but, she remembers a lot more than they think. And with her way above average IQ level, causing Rio to be in Kindergarten instead of being in a lower grade-she knew better than to forget a promise.
Especially when it's a pinky promise.
Riri was angry. Scrap that, Riri was disappointed. She knew her father was a busy man but, she didn't expect him to break a pinky promise. It broke her fragile heart.
She pushed her tiny body off her bed and made way to her door. She successfully opened the door to her bedroom, it was decorated purple with green polka dots-which was her two favourite colours.
She wandered aimlessly around the penthouse, that was until she heard very scary voices. Rio halted in her steps, she thought it was the monster that had been haunting her dreams for the past couple of weeks.
Wanting to be the strong heroine she knew she was, the little girl ran into the kitchen that was only a short distance away. Her tiny hands grabbed the nearest thing she could find.
A frying pan.
Quickly, she waddled towards the scary voices with the pan swinging in her little hands. For Rio, the pan was extremely heavy but, she knew that to be a heroine she had to sacrifice many things. Even if that meant her arms.
Once she found the perfect position to hide in, she waited. The scary voices grew louder and louder, the toddler peeked out of her hiding spot and realised that the scary voices were in position.
Rio being Rio, leaped out of her hiding spot and whacked one of the scary people in their prized possession whilst screaming. "Get outta my swamp."
Her mummy told her that if she felt scared or if someone was scaring her, that she should hit them in the no no zone. Even if it meant breaking her promise of being a good girl.

However, what Charlotte meant was that she should only hurt someone if they are intentionally hurting her. But, of course Rio wasn't old enough to understand big words like that.
"Shit, Rio!" Her older brother, Marcello screamed in agonising pain. He dropped down to the floor, clutching his groin area. He had never suffered pain like what he was experiencing then and he had been shot multiple of times in his life.
Rio had a mean whack with the frying pan. He know that was for sure.
"Oh, I am so sorry Marci." Rio whimpered, tears filling her eyes. The poor girl didn't realise that the scary voices were her brothers talking amongst themselves about Mafia business.
If she knew that, she would have ran up to them and no doubt given them endless amounts of kisses and cuddles.
"I thought you were a monster Marci, please fordive me." Marcello's little sister's lip began quivering, they all knew she was going to burst into tears any second.
"It's forgive bambina (baby)." Frankie corrected his younger sibling, he motioned for Rio to come over to where he was standing so, he could give her reassuring cuddles. It pained to see his princess crying.
It broke all of their hearts.
Rio just obliged by Frankie's requests but, before she could even get in arms reach of her eldest brother, Marcello scooped up the little monster and attacked her face with kisses and tickled her sides.
Rio's laughter and screams filled the air, she begged Marci for forgiveness but, Marcello wouldn't let his sister off without punishment for her actions.
'The little rugrat' he thought to himself, she nearly stopped him from being able to have children of his own.
'Marci, I...I...am...s-sorry...please...stop!" The little toddler screamed in between laughs. Riri must have been exceptionally loud because, moments later both her parents came running through the halls.
She was a tad too loud. Just a tad.
"That's what you get you little devil, for hitting me in the no no zone." Marcello threw Rio in the air, he was about to catch her when Franco beat him to it.

"No throwing your baby sister Marcello." Franco said strictly, he cradled his princess in his arms but, realised she had a scowl etched on her face. It was very similar to her mother's.
Rio tried wriggling out of her daddy's firm hold but, it was no use; she wasn't strong enough. 'I need to eat more puddings' Rio thought.
"Let me down daddy." Rio spoke firmly, well tried to. She just sounded very moody to her daddy. "What's gotten you so moody, my ladybug?" Franco attempted to kiss his daughter's cheeks, his little princess successfully dodged them.
"Put me down." She attempted again, she was determined that she wasn't going to fall for her daddy's tricks. Charlotte was leaning against the wall and watched the scene play out before her, she couldn't help but release a quiet giggle.
Rio was so much like Charlotte in many ways, it was quite remarkable.
Franco let out a small sigh but accepted his daughter's wishes. He didn't know what had gotten him in Rio's bad books but, he didn't want to be in them for long.
He carefully placed his little monster onto the laminated floor, Rio took this opportunity to run to her mother. "Mummy!"
"Excuse me missy moo but, where is my kisses and cuddles?" Frankie mocked offence, he placed a hand over his heart dramatically and let out a playful sigh.
His little sister giggled at her brother's playfulness but, nonetheless she ran over to him once she had received her morning cuddle and kiss from her loving mumma.
Luca, Charlotte and Franco couldn't help but watch their daughter in awe. She had a heart of gold and they couldn't believe she was theirs. However, Franco still pondered over why he was getting silent treatment from his own daughter.
"Ladybug, come here please." Franco kneeled down, wanting to match his Rio's height. He motioned for her to join him with his finger.
"Erm...no thank you." Rio mumbled into Frankie's chest, everyone other than Franco chuckled at the little girl's response. "Rio, I am giving you to the count of five to come over to me." Franco spoke sternly.
Rio knew she had already lost this battle.
Before Franco could even start counting, Rio sulked towards her daddy. She was very upset with him.
"Baby, why are you mad at me?" Franco held his daughter's shoulders gently to stop her from wriggling away, like the little wriggler she is.
"You promised that when you come back from holiday that we can go get ice cream, you broke a pinky promise." Rio's lip quivered again, the two year old was heartbroken that her daddy broke a pinky promise. She wanted to burst into tears-she felt as though he had broken her trust.
Rio may have been over dramatic but, to a two year old girl pinky promises meant the world to her. He broke that.
"Oh il mio bambina is that what you were upset about (my baby)?" Franco pulled the little girl into his chest and rubbed her back soothingly, she sniffled into his suit.
Rio was very overwhelmed, especially when it came to ice cream. She just nodded into his chest and he let out a saddened sigh. "I'm sorry baby, I promise that we will go for ice cream after lunch. How does that sound princess?"
Rio's smile lit up once again, she couldn't be any more happy than she was at his words. "Thank you daddy!" She kissed her daddy's cheek to which he smothered her with kisses and cuddles of his own.
Franco was a very cuddly person when it came to his daughter.
"Anyways, why have you got a frying pan in your hand baby?" Franco spotted Rio holding a pan in her hand but, decided not to question it until now.
"She hit me in the balls."

Shizuka
A/N: I'm actually writing two stories at once, this and another story on ScribbleHub. I have decided to put Shizuka on hiatus due to some RL issues but my story on ScribbleHub will continue since I'm co-writing it with a friend which is easier. Please do check it out on ScribbleHub. Series name is Walking in Shadows. Four Heroes were summoned from earth to combat an evil threat in Evarenan but there was a fifth person, Hirano Shizuka. She was never meant to be summoned. It was purely coincidental and unintentional. The God who acted as the intermediatery for the summon, has shunned her. Fated to live a harsh life in a foreign world. Abaddon, a Goddess, the Empress of Night, took pity upon Shizuka. Fascinated by the strength of her will and soul, and fond of her humble and accepting character, the Goddess offered Shizuka to be her Champion which Shizuka accepted. A month passed after the arrival of the Heroes and a plus one at Evarenan, the real trials and nightmares of this world had only just begun for our offworlders, especially Shizuka. AN: Shizuka is the sequel to Overture of an Odyssey, which takes place after the events of the latter.

Book 1: The Forgotten Fighter
Follow a collection of chance encounters turned potential allies as numerous forces work to tear through the fabric of reality. Viamarr, a continent in the world of Rinterria, holds host to our tale and to the city of High Morr, which sits snugly on its frozen island in the middle of a great frostbitten lagoon. When High Morr is suddenly crippled by a series of mysterious sinkholes, our heroes do what they do best. Try to run. Keep up with them to find out where they end up and what exactly is chasing them in return. I hope to publish a new chapter 3 times a week. This is reduced from my previous number, hopefully temporarily, due to an increased workload outside of Royal Road. I welcome any and all feedback to improve my writing, so thank you for taking the time to check out my page.

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
