《Here》Chapter Fifteen

I woke up to a familiar set of arms wrapped around me, as a furry blanket was placed on top of us.
"Lorenzo?" I questioned.
No answer.
I started to move around to loosen his grip.
"I was comfortable." Came a groggy response.
His arms loosened their grip.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"10:30 a.m." He answered.
I felt him shift his body upright.
I stood up and opened the curtains, allowing the beautiful sunlight to fulfill the room.
"Date?" I questioned.
"June third." He answered.
So I've been here for a month.
Everyone thinks I'm dead. They don't even know I'm alive.
My birthday is next month.
"Any requests for breakfast?" He asks.
I shake my head.
He waved for me to follow him so I did.
He pulled the chair I have always sat in out, gesturing for me to sit.
I sat down, yawning.
He shuffled around the kitchen, pulling out a pan and items from the fridge.
"Did you enjoy the movie last night?" He questioned as he broke a few eggs into a bowl, following that with some milk.
I decided to play nice for possible brownie points.
"Up until I fell asleep." I responded, faking a light smile and playing with my hair.
"It was pretty scary though." I commented.
Lie.
He nodded, mixing the items into the bowl.
"So you like to cook?" I asked.
I knew the answer. It's not like he has ever requested for me to make him anything.
"Yeah, it's a hobby of mine." He answered, pouring the mix into a hot pan.
I nodded.
"How do you make money?" I asked.
He went quiet for a minute.
"Why all the questions?" He asked.

"Just curious." I answered, shrugging.
"I used to do some hustles. Saved up all the
money I earned and built my house." He answered carefully.
Please tell me this man was not in a gang or some shit.
"What kind of side hustles?" I asked.
There was no response.
He walked over to the table with a pile of pancakes on a plate in his hand and sat it in the middle of the table.
Once everything was settled he sat down and took a fork, placing a blueberry pancake in front of me with syrup.
He began eating.
"Eat." He demanded.
I slowly began to cut the pancake and put a piece in my mouth.
I swallowed my bite.
"You never answered me."
He looked up at me deep in thought.
"Another time." He stated, avoiding eye contact.
"Bu-" I started.
"ANOTHER TIME." He yelled, slamming his fist on the table, glaring at me angrily.
I went silent and stared at the pancakes, losing any small appetite I had.
"Eat." He demanded.
I began to eat again, even though my stomach churned.
Once we finished our food, I placed our dishes in the sink and washed them to try to earn the brownie points back.
I wanted more than anything to break that glass plate over his head though. But for the sake of me getting out of here, I needed to continue to get brownie points that I had just lost.
I went stiff as strong arms firmly wrapped around my waist.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you." He apologized as he laid his head on my shoulder.
I held the sink as I stared outside.
My eyes began to water.
"I only wanted to know more about you." I said, making my voice going slightly out of pitch.

"Are you crying?" He asked, turning me around.
The tears I built into my eyes began to stream down my face.
He wiped them away with his thumbs as he held my face.
"I'm so sorry jay, don't cry." He said, with a guilty expression.
My lips trembled as I looked into his eyes.
He sighed, guilt overtaking him.
"Please don't cry. What can I do to make up for it?" He asked, searching my eyes.
I remained quiet for a minute as if I was thinking even though I already knew what I was going to say.
"Well..." I said, "Nevermind. You won't allow it."
I shook my head and went to turn around again.
He turned me back towards him.
"I will just tell me." He answered.
"Well..." I trailed off again, "It is a pretty day outside..."
He sighed, studying me.
I batted my eye lashes.
"We can go walk a few trails outside and see the lake." He suggested, nodding.
I hugged him causing him to freeze up in shock.
"Thank you!" I whispered, gratefully.
"I'll go change." I stated, walking towards the stairs and jogging up them.
This just might be my chance.
I entered the closet and rummaged through the clothes, grabbing a tight white tank top body suit then grabbing a pair of grey sweats.
I pulled them on and then grabbed a pair of shoes that were a size bigger than mine.
He must not have thought to check my shoe size.
I'll be leaving anyways.
I braided my hair in a tight French braid then went downstairs.
He was wearing a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt.
"Matching shirts." He commented.
I nodded remaining monotone.
He suddenly had a serious scary look on his face.
"Jay. If you try anythin-"
"I won't." I said quickly, "promise."
He studied me as I held a straight face.
"Okay." He said, reaching for my hand.
I took it and followed him out the door, squinting at how bright the sunlight is.
I feel like I haven't been outside in years.
Today will definitely be the day I get away from Lorenzo.

Shieldmaiden: Unbroken
An instant is all that's needed to change a persons life. A single encounter. A single desire can bring together many people to change the world. One thought. From the moment humanity began its course of self-destruction, there were those who desired to change the world for the better. To stop the harm to their planet, and themselves, a group of people came together and formed a world from their imaginations. They decided that humanity could not be a part of the world they would destroy, and would allow the world to recoup. They would pull the people from their world in groups, and until everyone was gone, every month more people would be brought to this new world. An unfamiliar world. An unfamiliar people. An unfamiliar system. I never expected to write a LITRPG, or an Isekai, and I'm not confident I can do it well, but I liked writing the first chapters, so I'm gonna try my best! Also, I don't recommend reading it on mobile.
