Juno sat in the passenger seat of the truck as Cas was on the phone with Dean. She and Cas had just gone to every abandoned building or warehouse and still had no lead on Sam. They even talked to cops. Or as Dean would put it, "beat cops."
"Don't make things needlessly complicated as you humans tend to do. I'll call you," Cas said, then hung up on Dean. Juno glanced over as he climbed back in the car.
"What'd Dean say?" she asked as she was clicking through her laptop.
"Check real-estate offices," Cas answered as he started the car.
"Okay. And what'd he say about his mom?" Juno asked as she looked at Cas.
"That he's awkward around her since she's... back from the dead," Cas told her with a sigh.
"Sounds about right," Juno said with a nod. Cas began driving towards the diner that he had seen earlier to stop for food. Of course, not for him. He glanced at Juno as she was now going through all real estate receipts from the past month. He smiled lightly at her, then looked back at the road. Juno placed the pen in her hand between her teeth as she began sitting up. She pulled it out again as she studied the date of one of the rentals. "Hey, there's a rented house in here out in no man's land that was rented two weeks. I could call the real estate office, but I'd have to wait until morning."
"We'll tell Dean tomorrow. For now we can stop at the diner I saw in town," Cas said turning onto the main road.
"Since when do you eat?" Juno asked looking at him.
"I don't, but you do," Cas said with a shrug. "I figured you could get something to eat then we could find a motel and you get some sleep-"
"Cas, Cas, Cas," Juno said stopping him. "It's two in the morning. We don't need to go to a motel, and with how panicked I am for Sam, anxiety is filling the hunger in my stomach." Cas opened his mouth to respond, but looked at Juno who had a small smile on her face. "I will gladly go eat at a diner. But I will not waste a hundred bucks to sleep for fours hours in a crappy motel bed. I can do that for free in this car."
"Sleep in a crappy motel bed?" Castiel asked furrowing his eyebrows. Juno laughed slightly as his comment, leaning back in the seat.
"Just drive," she said with a smile. She closed her laptop, sliding it under the seat as Castiel pulled up to the diner. They stepped out of the car, walking in and sitting in a booth. A waitress walked up, setting two waters down.
"You two are real night owls. Hardly ever get people at this hour. Except this one woman has been coming in around three every night for the past few days," the waitress said setting down menus. Juno paused, furrowing her eyebrows.
"Does this woman by chance have an English accent, blonde hair, and thinks she's really entitled?" Juno asked looking up at the waitress.
"How'd you know?" the waitress asked. "You must know her."
"Something like that," Juno said with a nod. She looked at Cas as he nodded slightly.
"Well, since you're in at such a late hour I guess I'll give you the specials. There's a soup special, a salad special, and a couples special," the waitress said pulling out her notepad.

"I think we're just-"
"What's the couples special?" Juno's eyes widened as she took her gaze to Cas. She was too baffled by his words to even hear what the waitress said. By the time the waitress walked away, Juno was blushing like hell. She grabbed the water, beginning to drink it quickly. Cas noticed her distressed look, causing him to furrow his eyebrows. "What's wrong?" Juno set the water down as she leaned forward.
"Couples special?" she asked raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, I thought we..." Cas trailed off as Juno seemed confused. He furrowed his eyebrows again as Juno just seemed even more confused.
"Okay, I'm confused," Juno started.
"I can see that," Cas said studying her face.
"Because nothing was never initiated," Juno explained holding her arms out.
"But... I kissed you. Twice," Cas said looking up at her.
"Oh, that was it? That was you initiating things," Juno said to herself. "Yeah, that's reasonable." She looked up from the table to see Toni beginning to walk into the diner. "Shit." She ducked under the table, then pulled Cas down. He slid down the seat as the bell above the door rang.
"Why are we under here?" Cas asked looking at Juno.
"Because Toni just walked in, and we're trying to not blow our cover," Juno whispered to him.
"Evening, Toni. Usual?" the waitress asked grabbing a bag from the shelf.
"Yes, that would be lovely, Maria," Toni answered.
"You know, two people came in earlier. Claimed they knew you. They're..." Maria trailed off, noticing that Castiel and Juno were gone. "They were there. Must have left. It is late and they looked a little hungry, if you know what I mean." Juno rolled her eyes as Cas looked confused.
"Unfortunate. I'd have loved to meet them. What did they look like?" Toni asked stepping towards Maria.
"Real distinct. Man was wearing a trench coat, girl had red hair and blue eyes," Maria told her. "A shame, their dinner was almost ready."
"You didn't see them leave?" Toni asked.
"Nope. Guess they're having fun," Maria said winking at Toni. The blonde merely turned to the table, Juno being grateful that there was cloth hanging to the ground to cover their bodies. As Toni squatted to pull back the cloth, Juno leaning up to the table. She grabbed the glass of water, then threw it across the room. The glass shattered and the water spilled everywhere. Juno slipped under the table again. "What in God's name was that?!" Toni stood, turning to the shattered glass. As she walked away, Juno peeked out from behind the cloth. The two women were preoccupied, Juno taking that as her time. She waved for Cas to follow her. They crawled out from under the table, then crept to the back door. They ran outside, Juno letting out a huge sigh.
"That was... Terrifying," Juno said putting her hand over her heart. "Wow, I thought we were goners."
"Well, I would've put her to sleep," Cas said looking at Juno.
"We should get out of here before she realizes we could still be in the area," Juno said beginning to walk back to the truck. Juno walked around the corner, then stepped back as Toni was walking their way. "It's her again."
"Why are we running from her?" Cas asked.

"Because if she knows that we're in town, then she'll know that we're coming for Sam. And she'll probably kill us because she was ordered to kill me," Juno informed him. "I'm out of ideas, though." Juno sighed, glancing around the corner to see Toni getting closer. "Unless..." She looked at Cas, then immediately began pulling off his coat.
"Wait-" Cas said, but Juno pulled off his suit jacket. She opened a dumpster, then threw them in. "What are you-" Juno grabbed Cas by the tie, then pulled him into her. She kissed him and began backing into the corner so Toni wouldn't notice her hair. Cas went along as he gripped her waist. His kissing got more passionate, Juno not expecting it at all. She got so distracted by Castiel that she completely forgot they were trying to avoid Toni. It wasn't until the clicking of Toni's heels faded that Juno was brought back. She pulled back slightly, Castiel inching forward as if he wanted more. "Juniper..."
"Where'd you learn to do that?" Juno asked furrowing her eyebrows.
"There was a pizza man on a screen," Cas said looking at her.
"I don't... What?" Juno asked looking up at him.
"Sam and Dean said you don't talk about it," Castiel told her. Juno furrowed her eyebrows again, but Castiel leaned back down and kissed her again. Juno immediately kissed back as she ran her fingers through his hair. Seconds later, the two parted from each others lips. Juno couldn't put together in her mind where this side of Castiel was coming from. It was rough, yet passionate at the same time. It was as if he was hungry for the taste of her lips, like he couldn't get enough.
It was slightly scary, and it sent chills down her spine.
*****
"So, I called the real estate office and they said that a woman with an accent rented out that house two weeks ago," Juno said getting back inside the truck. "Think it's worth calling Dean in for?"
"Let's go see what it is, then call Dean," Cas said with a nod.
"Right," Juno nodded. Castiel began driving towards the house, Juno glancing at him every so often. "So... Are we just going to... ignore last night?" Cas opened his mouth to respond, but sighed. "If you don't want to, we can talk about it."
"What do we need to talk about?" Castiel asked keeping his eyes on the road.
"Well... Are we... a couple now?" Juno asked furrowing her eyebrows. "Wow, I'm in a rom com."
"S-Should we?" Castiel asked glancing at her.
"Have you ever been in a relationship? With a woman? Or anyone? " Juno asked raising an eyebrow.
"I had intercourse with an angel named April once, but she stabbed me the next morning. And Dean took me to this... den of iniquity," Cas said furrowing his eyebrows. Juno made her mouth into an 'o' shape in shock. "Juniper, I feel a pull towards you, and I can't ignore it." Juno looked at him now, completely confused.
"What? What are you talking about?" she asked.
"E-Ever since I first saw you, I've had this pull towards you. I have been trying to ignore it, and even when Lucifer was in me, he was embracing the pull. That's why..."
"He so graciously made out with me," Juno stated.
"Yes," Castiel answered. "I can't ignore it anymore." Juno nodded slowly as she took a deep breath.
"S-So I'm, what, some kind of... angel charge for you?" Juno asked. Castiel's eyes widened at her words.
"You might be," he told her. "There was always talk of angels having charges. I never witnessed one, though."
"That's what Chuck meant," Juno muttered. "Chuck -- God -- Before he left said that we would grow really close. Close enough that I would seem like an in law at some point in time."
"So, God knew?" Cas questioned. "He creates the charges."
"That sneaky bitch," Juno said with a smile. Cas parked the car a couple hundred yards away from the house, the two stepping out of it. They began walking, Juno stopping Cas. "Alright, call Dean. Tell him we think we found the place." Cas pulled out his phone, calling Dean to tell him of their discovery.
"I think I may have found Sam's location. It's a farm. It appears empty, but it was rented two weeks ago to a woman with an English accent," Castiel informed Dean.
"Did you have a look inside?" Dean asked.
"No. No, it's – it's powerfully warded," Cas said. Juno furrowed her eyebrows. She couldn't feel anything.
"Powerfully warded? Okay, see, buddy, that – that was your headline right there," Dean told him. Juno rolled her eyes as Cas shook his head and looked down.
"Are we still discussing the same thing?" Cas questioned him.
"Where are you?" Dean asked, finally.
"I'll text you the address," Cas said.
"Okay, got it. I'm on my way." Dean hung up the phone, Cas pocketing his. Juno glanced at him as she stared at the outside of it.
"Dean's on his way," Cas said as he sent him the address.
"Good, let's get back to the car before anyone notices us," Juno said beginning to back away from the tree. They walked back to the car, commencing their waiting for Dean.
*****
The Impala rolled up to the truck, parking next to it. Juno and Cas stepped out as Dean and Mary got out of the Impala.
"Where's all this warding you mentioned?" Dean asked walking towards Cas.
"It's cloaked. It's very powerful. You brought your mother?" Cas asked turning to Dean.
"Hello, Castiel. Yes, he did," Mary stated.
"You sure there's anyone inside?" Dean asked looking at the house.
"No. The agent said the lease was handled long distance, but someone warded the house," Juno said folding her arms. "I'd take a look inside, but I didn't have any weapons."
"I'm gonna go have a closer look," Dean said walking forward. Mary began to follow Dean, making him turn back around. "Mom, I got this."
"You can keep me from driving, Dean. Not from hunting," Mary told him. Dean nodded, then looked at Castiel and Juno for any help.
"I'm gonna go keep a look out at the end of the road in case anyone is coming," Juno said beginning to back up.
"I'm locked out by the warding. I could use the company," Cas said looking at Mary. She sighed, then Dean nodded.
"Thanks," Dean said. Juno turned, walking to the end of the road. She stood there for a few minutes until her phone chimed.
'Need help. Come back.'
"Great," Juno sighed. She began jogging towards the house, then realized that Mary was no longer standing next to Cas. "Where's Mary?"
"She went inside, I couldn't stop her," Cas said with a sigh.
"Well, you can't stop me either," Juno said beginning to go to the Impala. She opened the trunk, Cas walking to her. She grabbed a shotgun, then a handgun. She shut the trunk, then smiled at Cas.
"No persuasion is going to stop you, is it?" Castiel asked her.
"Nope," she said with a smile. She walked past him, going around the back. She noticed the sigil painted on the ground, avoiding it at all costs. She tried pulling open the cellar, noticing it was locked. "Well, that's no good." She shot the wood, the door blasting off. "Better." Juno jumped down into the cellar, standing up straight to see Toni's eyes widened. "That moment right there, when your eyes got bigger. It's my favorite."
"No, you should be dead," Toni said pointing at Juno.
"Well, you didn't use the right blade," Juno said with a sigh. "I guess you guys don't know everything." She cocked the shotgun, pointing it at Toni as Mary had her pistol pointed at Toni as well.
"Drop it," Mary ordered Toni. She put the sharp knife in her hand on the table. "Ground." Toni didn't move, Mary stepping forward. She hit Toni in the face with the butt of the gun, Toni grunting in pain as she stumbled to the ground. "That's the ground." Mary handed Dean the keys to the chains, her and Juno aiming at Toni. Toni then swung at Mary, hitting the gun out of her hand. She kept turning, kicking the shotgun out of Juno's hand. Toni elbowed Sam in the face, then hit Dean as well. She turned to Mary, punching her in the throat.
Juno grabbed Toni, pulling her away from Mary. Toni turned, punching Juno back into some wood planks. She crashed through them, landing on her back harder than expected. Mary continued to fight with Toni, but Dean broke free. He grabbed the hand gun from the ground, firing it into the air. Toni grabbed glass from the sink, cutting her hand.
"Xi," she said, turning and pointing her hand at Mary. Mary began choking on the ground, Dean and Juno turning to her.
"Kill the spell now," Dean demanded as he had his gun pointed at her. "I'm not kidding."
"Shoot me, and your mother has no chance," Toni told him. "The gun." Dean sighed, uncocking the gun and handing it to Toni. He then punched her in the face.
"Dean!" Sam shouted. Mary began breathing again, Juno stepping to help her up.
"It's okay. She was using a Chinese mind-control technique. Hard to do when you're unconscious. Turns out this ape did read a book or two," Dean said beginning to unlock Sam from the chair.
"Well played." Everyone looked up to see Castiel and a man standing there in front of them. "What you were told is basically true. We were keen on knowing about the two of you, seeing as you seem to be partially carrying on the Men of Letters' work here now that the American chapter is defunct."
"So you sic your attack dog on us to what, say hi?" Dean asked.
"Well, part of our group suspect some kind of malfeasance amongst you American Hunters. No argument – Lady Bevell went too far. I deeply apologize," Mick said looking around the room. "She'll face consequences in London."
"I'll tell you what, why don't you take a walk, and she can face those consequences right here and now?" Dean suggested. Mick took a beat, then shook his head.
"She's ours. We'll take care of her. Now, I'm here to extend an olive branch. We want to work with you," Mick said.
"Let me ask you a question, uh, Mick is it? Why would we believe any of this?" Sam asked him weakly.
"Lads...if I wasn't sincere, if I meant you harm, there's a dozen ways I could've come in here and taken you all prisoner instead of being unarmed," Mick said opening his coat to show nothing in there. "Not to mention I powered down all the wardings in this shack so your attack dog could come in. I reckon you could finish me off without breaking a sweat. Am I right?"
"I don't sweat under any circumstances," Castiel told him. Juno furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as she looked over at him.
"My number," Mick said handing a card to Castiel. "Take your time, cool down, and just think it over. And what have you got to lose, except your worst nightmares?"
*****
Juno walked to her room as Cas was trailing behind her. The Winchesters were in the war room eating dinner, so the two gave them some space.
"You know, I never liked British people," Juno said looking back at Castiel.
"But Mick seems to offer some help," Cas followed up.
"Maybe, but we can't trust him. You never know what they could be planning," Juno said turning to him. Cas nodded slowly at her words. "Anyways, I think I'm gonna call it a night. Get some rest."
"Yes, you should," Cas told her. Juno smiled lightly as she took a second. She stepped forward, kissing Castiel's cheek. She stepped back, going into her room. Cas stood there for a moment before turning and walking back to the library.

Madness Led by the Hands
‘Great, no… splendid. It was for naught.’ ‘Naught? Depends. If your desire is to send an army of killers our family’s way, yes indeed. If it’s plain survival you seek, then no.’ ‘They don’t coexist?’ ‘What… don’t tell me you’re still all groggy from the fall. Perhaps in novels, but real life is much tougher–––many more times a drag than anyone can possibly imagine. If dusty history is not a reliable teacher for you, then the pandemic surely took that place. At least that one has the advantage you needn’t be literate to savvy how reality always trumps imagination.’ ‘Whatever you say, whatever you say. So… what now?’ ‘Now? Isn’t it obvious? Now we shall survive. And live a good life.’ ‘Ohh… pretty much everything here has something against this little weird wish of ours. Might you consider?’ ‘Then pretty much everything here is a goner.’ ‘Hm, I don’t like the sound of that. Too much trouble, you see. I’d prefer laying low somewhere safe.’ ‘…nobody told you it’s mutually exclusive, no–––or did you forget about that too?’ ‘Fine, then I wish my future enemies all the best.’ ‘They are undeserving of your pity.’ ‘Of course not. That unlucky bunch won’t ever comprehend the reason behind their demise. Just let me smoke in peace and offer my condolence in advance.’ ‘Idem, let me study alchemy, unobstructed by all, if possible. This also includes you. By the way, are you sure you smoke to offer condolences? It seems like an excuse to me.’ ‘I-it is none. Plain truth, you see?’ ‘Seriously, why did I even ask...?’
