don't you forget about me
~*~
Juno sat on her bed as she stared at the grey crawling up her veins. She hadn't gotten a call back from Castiel yet, but was hoping for one very soon. Her phone began ringing, Juno answering it immediately.
"Hello?" she asked.
"Juno, I got your voicemail. What's happening?" Juno let out a sigh of relief that it was Cas, a smile creeping up onto her face.
"I need you to meet up with me. Kansas City, Kansas. I'll see you in thirty minutes." Juno hung up the phone, Cas not getting the chance to respond. Juno ran out of the bunker, not thinking twice about it. She drove as fast as she could, texting Cas to meet her at a diner. When she got there, she saw him sitting in a booth. She walked to the booth, sitting across from him quickly.
"You called me seemingly in a panic. What's wrong?" Cas asked furrowing his eyebrows.
"You remember how Dean said gold blades can hurt or kill banshees?" Juno asked leaning forward.
"I recall that, yes," Cas nodded.
"Well, in order to trap the banshee someone needed to cut their hand and hit it against a sigil," Juno explained. "Seeing as the only thing we could use were gold blades, I was kind of in a tough situation."
"Juno, tell me you didn't," Cas said tilting his head at her. She pulled off her jacket, extending her arm across the table. Cas's eyes widened at the grey veins and how fast it was spreading. Even Lucifer was shocked.
"I looked through all the lore, and nothing can reverse it," Juno said with a frown. "And I can't tell Sam or Dean because if I do, then they'll make me a priority over the Darkness, and that can't happen. Not now." Cas frowned, grabbing Juno's hand. Lucifer used all his strength to try and heal her, Juno only watching in sadness. "Yeah, I already checked the lore to see if it would work."
"And since you are the last of your kind-"
"There is no lore on me," Juno told him. "Yeah, I know." She pulled her arm back, pulling her jacket back on. "I even tried tending to it as if it were a normal scratch, but as I suspected it didn't work."
"What are we going to do?" Cas asked. Juno looked up at him, then shook her head.
"I don't know," she answered. "I die?"
"Juno, you can't just let yourself die," Cas told her. "You have to find out a way to reverse this."
"You don't think I know that?" Juno snapped at him. "I've tried all I can. I even called Crowley to ask if Rowena had anything in mind. All he said was 'she's currently indisposed'." Panic flooded into Lucifer's veins as he was getting nervous. "You know what else he said?"

"What?" Cas asked, hoping it wouldn't be what he thought it was.
"He said Lucifer got out of the cage," Juno told him. "He didn't say he got a vessel, but he said he's out there."
"Do Sam and Dean know?" Cas asked furrowing his eyebrows.
"No. Won't tell them that, either. They've got enough to deal with," Juno said leaning back in the booth.
"Would you two like anything?" a waitress asked walking up to the two.
"Just water," Juno told her with a smile. The waitress nodded, walking away from the table. Juno sighed, running the not hurt hand through her hair.
"What about that man that told you about your powers?" Castiel asked hopefully.
"He's dead. It's not like we can prance up to Heaven or down to Hell to ask him," Juno said shaking her head. "You're not exactly on the best terms with either."
"I can get into Heaven, but it would be sneaking past all the angels to find him," Cas told her with a shrug.
"You could get us into Heaven?" Juno asked raising an eyebrow. Cas nodded slowly, Juno letting out a sigh. "How much of a suicide mission is it?"
"They can't kill you, they don't know how. You can make it through," Cas told her with a slight nod.
"And what will you do?" Juno asked.
"I'll distract the angels at the gate," Castiel said determinedly. "I'll make sure you get in, find Richard, then get out."
"Yeah, easy enough," Juno said with a sigh. "Alright, when do we go?"
*****
Castiel and Juno stood by the car as they were scoping out the playground. There were two angels guarding the gate while there were actual children playing on the playground. The first angel was a woman sitting on the park bench. The other was a child on the monkey bars.
"What's the game plan?" Juno asked.
"You go for the gate, I'll distract Afriel and Charmeine," Castiel said as he looked between the two angels.
"You guys have the weirdest names. God couldn't choose names like Ben or Luke?" Juno asked looking at Castiel. "Never mind, let's go." The two split up, Juno walking behind the bench. She kept her eye on the woman, eyeing Castiel who was circling the playground. She sauntered around the gate saying the words quickly to open it.
"Hey!" Charmeine yelled standing from the bench. Juno's head snapped to her, but Castiel tackled Charmeine quickly.
"Juno, go!" he yelled. She turned, jumping through the gate. She landed on a white marble floor, looking to see a line of doors around her. She stood, beginning to look down the line of doors. They all read different names in alphabetical order, which made this easier but harder.

"Great," Juno muttered. "Find the undiscovered man." She waked down the hallway, noticing that she was all the way in A. She sighed, walking down the hall quickly. She noticed each of the halls were labeled with first name and last name. Like A, A or A, B. "This is going to take forever." She began making her way to the R's, gripping the angel blade inside her coat. She heard footsteps beginning to approach, making her turn the corner. She watched as two angels kept walking, Juno letting out a sigh of relief. She walked on after them, trying to blend in. She paused upon passing a certain hallway and began backing up.
C, B.
"Dammit," Juno muttered. She walked down the hall, looking for the door she wanted. She finally found it, her heart beating hard inside her chest. She stepped inside Charlie's Heaven, noticing the scenery change. She came to the conclusion that it was the family trip they took to Disney World when Charlie was 11 and Juno was 15. Juno smiled lightly, spotting Charlie in the crowd.
"Mom! Can we go to Dumbo next?" Charlie asked looking up at her mother.
"No, she said we could go to the Hall of Presidents," younger Juno said looking at Charlie. Juno smiled at the memory, realizing this was Charlie's happiest memory. "But since it's your trip, we can go to Dumbo." Little Charlie paused, Juno furrowing her eyebrows. Suddenly all of the people went away and Charlie turned older. Juno's eyes widened as she uncrossed her arms. Charlie turned to Juno, a small smile beginning to grow on Juno's face.
"Hey, sister," Juno said with a smile.
"Juno!" Charlie exclaimed. She ran to her sister, enveloping her in a hug. Juno did the same, tears beginning to well up in her eyes. "Wait, why are you here? You should be-"
"Living a happy life while you work for a psychotic leviathan man you decided not to tell me about?" Juno asked stepping back to look at Charlie.
"How do you know about that?" Charlie asked.
"Well, you hadn't texted me for a few months so I decided to investigate using the hacking skills you taught me. Tapped into the last call you made and traced the number's address back to the bunker in Lebanon," Juno told Charlie with a frown. "I talked to Sam and Dean, they told me what happened."
"Juno, I'm so sorry. I should've told you about everything. I was wrong to leave you in the dark," Charlie said grabbing Juno's hands.
"No, no, don't worry about it. But, I should mention I'm not actually here for you," Juno said hoping Charlie wouldn't take it the wrong way.
"Thanks, J. Really appreciate it," Charlie sarcastically remarked.
"Hey, I could've died in the ten years I was gone, but look at me now," Juno said motioning to herself. "But, I could really use your help."
"With what?" Charlie asked.
"It's a long story. But to summarize, I'm a banshee and I'm dying so I need to find a man that's here to ask him how I save myself," Juno said with a nod. Charlie opened her mouth, but nodded slightly. "Come on, let's run from angels and find the hero man in all of this. Like old times."
"This is definitely not like old times," Charlie said shaking her head slightly.
"Come on, what would Hermione Granger do?" Juno asked raising an eyebrow.
"She'd fight," Charlie nodded.
"Hell yeah she would. Now, let's do this," Juno said turning to the door. She gripped the handle, opening it to the white hallway again. She and Charlie stepped out, both walking towards the beginning of the hall. Juno peered around the corner, nodding at Charlie that it was clear.
"So, you've been staying with Sam and Dean. They tell you any embarrassing stories about me yet?" Charlie asked looking at Juno.
"No, actually. I'll have to ask for some," Juno said looking at her sister. She smiled as Charlie scoffed. "You know, they really loved you Charlie. They still do."
"They're like the brothers we never had," Charlie said with a light smile.
"Yeah, they are," Juno said laughing slightly. "They'd do anything to keep me safe which is a bit alarming. But, you know, I don't blame them after what happened."
"Do they know it wasn't their fault?" Charlie asked. "They weren't responsible for me... dying."
"I think a bit of them blames themselves, but they know," Juno said with a reassuring smile. The sound of voices made Juno looked behind her. She pulled Charlie around a wall, peering around to see another set of angels walking in the opposite direction of them now. "All clear." They walked out from the hallway, Juno looking towards where they needed to be. "Man, this needs to speed up. Let's go." Sooner or later, they made it all the way to R. And the first R was just R. Not R, A, just R. "I think this hall is it."
"Did he not have a last name?" Charlie asked.
"Not that I can recall," Juno shrugged. "Plus, there's only two doors." She turned to the one that read the year she had left Iraq, making her nod slowly. "This is it." Juno grabbed the handle, then pushed the door open.

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.
