《Mystery of Redpaw (PAW Patrol Fanfic)》The Clues (Part One)

As Skye flew over the bay, Chase nervously shifted in his seat. His fur was brushed up against Skye's and he was blushing like mad. He tried his best not to show it, but his body betrayed him. His ears were flattened against his head. He sat on her right, avoiding her eyes. "Chase?" she asked. "Are you alright?"
He gulped. "Y-yeah." Releasing a breath he didn't know he was holding, he sighed. "Just worried about Redpaw, that's all."
Skye placed her paw on Chase's, causing him to suppress a yelp. "He's going to be fine. Rocky will talk to him."
"Y-yeah..." the shepherd stuttered. Skye giggled knowingly. She landed her chopper just a few feet away from Everest and Mr. Porter. Both pups hopped out, rushing onto the scene.
Everest noted Chase's behavior as well as his scent. "Everything okay?"
Chase turned his head before realizing what was wrong. He forced his ears upward. "Yeah, yeah, everythings fine. Mr. Porter, how are you?"
"I'd be better if we knew where Alex was. Someone took him."
"Who?" Chase barked.
"I don't know. They took my van." He sat on the ground. "Alex," he groaned. "I'm so sorry. If anything happens to him I'll-"
"Don't worry, Mr. Porter," Skye said. "Chase and Everest are on this."
"I searched the house and it's surroundings," Everest said. "There's tire tracks outside of the garage."
"Let's start there," Chase said. "Mr. Porter, Rocky and Redpaw should be at the Lookout, if you'd like to stay there in the meantime."
"No, I couldn't. I'm too worried about Alex." He knelt down on the ground. "Please find him."
Chase placed his paw on his shoulder. "We will." He looked at Everest. "Let's get to work."
"Come on," Skye said. "I'll take you to the Lookout."
Redpaw sat under the tree nearest the Lookout. He tried hard to remember the vision, every detail, but it was starting to fade. He whined in frustration. His ears twitched as he heard Rocky's vehicle.

"Redpaw, are you okay?" Rocky grabbed the first aid kit just in case. He trotted up to him, looking at him up and down. "Does anything hurt?"
"I'm fine," Redpaw said. "Just... confused." He was tearing up. "And scared." Rocky approached him, sitting next to the wolf pup.
"Was it a vision?" Redpaw nodded. "Of Alex?" He nodded once more, looking up at Rocky.
"He's locked in Mr. Porter's van, but I don't know where they took it." Rocky turned his head.
"Who?" Redpaw started trembling. He buried his muzzle into Rocky's chest, crying his eyes out.
"I didn't see!" he sobbed. "I'm sorry!" Rocky consoled him, wrapping his paws around the sad little wolf. "I'm sorry!"
"It's okay, Redpaw." He continued sobbing, soaking Rocky's fur. Ugh, wet- No! Focus. Crying pup in your arms. "We'll find him."
"H-how can you be s-so s-sure?" He looked up into Rocky's eyes.
"'Cause we're the PAW Patrol. No job is too big." He smiled. "And no pup is too small." He licked one of Redpaw's tears, causing him to giggle.
"Rocky," Chase said through his collar. "We need your forensic kit."
"What happened?" he asked, slight concern in his voice. He looked down at Redpaw, who merely turned his head I'm curiosity. "On second thought, never mind. I'm on my way."
"What's a fur-in-stick kit?" Redpaw asked as he jumped into Rocky's rig. Rocky giggled as he followed.
"Forensic," he corrected. "I'll explain on the way."
"Can I turn the sirens on?" Redpaw begged.
"Okay."
Redpaw howled as he flipped the switch, his tail swishing furiously behind him. Rocky forced the excited pup down to strap him in and took off, heading back towards town.
Redpaw wanted to go inside of Mr. Porter's, but Rocky forced him to stay with Skye. He went into the house and Everest came out. Pouting, he paced impatiently, tail wagging absentmindedly. "Redpaw, what's up?" Skye asked.

"I want to see what forensic stuff is!" he whined. "What's he doing in there?"
"He's just running some tests on something Chase found," Everest replied. "It isn't really all that exciting."
"Really?"
"Yeah," Skye agreed. "Chase showed me once. It's not that great. You have to wait for a computer to do all the work."
"That can take hours," Everest pointed out. "Why don't we try to find Alex in the meantime?"
Redpaw folded his ears, recalling his previous vision. The truck flashed in his mind. The sight of Alex bound and gagged in the back frightened him. Tears fell out of Alex's eyes. Gasping, Redpaw shook his head.
"Are you okay?" Everest asked. "Your eyes are glowing," she pointed out. Skye noticed his paws were glowing as well. She remembered what Rocky had said prior to Redpaw attacking.
"You're safe, pup," she said quietly, moving slowly towards the shaking wolf. "Everything's okay."
"Alex is in trouble!" he suddenly barked. He sniffed the air, walking towards the garage. Sniffing the tire tracks imprinted on the ground, he looked up towards the sky, taking in a deep breath. His eyes widened as his head pounded.
"What are you-" Everest said.
"Shh," Skye whispered. "He's part wolf. This must be an instinct."
Skye wasn't wrong. Redpaw was using his nose to track down Alex. But his brain was doing more than that. It was giving him visual clues, an exact path towards the van. He could even see their destination.
Alex was pulled out of the van roughly by a large man. Redpaw could smell something unnatural about him. He was frantic as his eyes scanned Alex. "Please don't hurt me," he begged, tears flowing down his cheeks.
"Shut up!" the man yelled. He burst into an unoccupied cabin, shoving the boy to the ground. Alex scrambled, desperately crawling away. "You're staying here, boy. You'll never see your stupid grandfather again or those mangy mutts you call friends."
"Who are you?" Alex yelled. "I don't know you!"
"I'm your-" At that moment, the vision faded. Redpaw felt extremely weak. Struggling to stay on his paws, he stumbled, trying to take a few steps.
"Alex..." he panted. He managed to look Everest in the eye. "Call Jake..." Skye rushed forward, realizing he was going to collapse. She grabbed his scruff before his eyes shut and eased him to the ground. He began shaking, not as strong as before, but enough to scare Everest and Mr. Porter.
"He's fine," Skye panted. "Everest, do what he said." She nuzzled Redpaw's muzzle. "You did a good job, pup."
Ryder and the pups were nearing their destination when Robo-Dog started acting strange. "What are you doing, boy?" Ryder asked. The PAW Patroller swerved, knocking Katie and the pups to the floor. Ryder immediately took control, disabling auto-pilot. "What happened to the GPS?" he asked.
"There's some sort of interference," Katie said. "I can't track the pups tags or get any kind of signal."
"Well, we're close. Pups, keep a lookout for a tall building."
"Uh, Ryder?" Marshall said. "There's no buildings anywhere." All around them, a beautiful landscape of trees and mountains in the far distance. Everything else was flat land.
"You're right," Ryder said, pulling the PAW Patroller over. "This doesn't make any sense."
Marshall, Rubble and Zuma all began whining. "Ryder! We've got to go, now!" Marshall barked.
Katie walked up to them. "What's wrong, guys?" The ground shook slightly.
"EARTHQUAKE!" the pups barked. They each ran for their rigs, hiding inside. The PAW Patroller shook violently as the earth moved underneath them. Ryder and Katie each held their hands above their head. The vehicle shifted as the ground opened up. They fell for a few seconds before it rolled over, knocking them around. Glass shattered. Screams and howls were heard. Then, there was silence.

The Sea of Destiny
[Let me be straight with you. This is trash, like old dime store novel trash. Don't expect grandiose writing, anything profound, or much beyond being free of spelling errors. Like my profile says, it’s hopefully like a salty snack, decent and satisfying for people looking for this kind of thing (at least that's my hope). It is simple, weird, and most likely growing in ridiculousness as it rapidly escalates.] Michael just wants to get away after a rough breakup. He figures some time alone cruising on a sick jet ski will help clear his head. After a small series of mishaps he winds up as humanities last hope adrift at sea after nuclear devastation destroys the mainland. Will he be able to solve the mystery of the bowl of the ancients before nuclear winter freezes over his dwindling food supply? Who are these mysterious women he keeps meeting, and will he even care about the talents they bring to the table, or will he be too focused on how they keep ruining his carefully laid plans for survival at sea? Read this cheesy short story to see for yourself, and discover the true mystery behind the hand of fate.

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.

Charlotte Powers: Diary of a Would-Be Superhero
The journal of a girl who thinks she knows. (Spoiler: She does not know.) "...an odd combination of stream-of-conscious anxieties and high-flying save-the-world goals written by an overzealous, naïve teenaged girl in her wristwatch computer diary."-readers are better at describing stories than the writers who wrote them "When it's over you look up: the world looks the same, but you are somehow different and that feeling lingers for days."-bit OTT but I'll take it "...everything cannot just be good and then be even more good, in this story, right?"-100% accurate assessment "...the plot was bland and the character uninteresting. It was just a very dull read. I cannot recommend this book to anyone."-oh well can't win them all Discord for discussion. Complain about Charlotte's nonsense! Ship the characters! Do a thing! Now entering the second arc, Power Play. Things are getting serious. We're heading towards something important. Charlotte is still largely clueless. But she is trying so hard.
