《Birds of a Feather》Half

"Tina, that's dangerous!" Newt commented when Tina talked to him about her plans on learning Necromancy.

"It's for Theseus, Newt! Wouldn't you do that for your own brother?"

"I know you feel guilty. . "

"It is my fault!" Tina admitted, "If I hadn't let Queenie escape my sight, we could have all saved Leta from a terrible fate!"

"Leta had to go! She had to go" Newt said, solemnly, "She hid a terrible secret".

"Newt, haven't you noticed your brother? He's been broken!" Tina screamed.

"I did! And he'll come around soon!" Newt yelled too, "He'll come back to himself!"

"I don't want to resurrect Leta. I want to bring her, just for a few moments" Tina said, "I've never gotten to know her and I just want. . "

"Necromancy is complex and you are not learning it. You could die!"

"So what?"

"You think I don't care about you?"

"I don't want you to care so much about me! It's my job!"

"Your job is being an Auror and not killing yourself by learning dark magic! You promised Dumbledore!"

"I didn't!"

"Then you lied straight to his face!"

"Don't tell me what to do, Newt!"

"Leta is dead and she can never come back, you got that? Theseus will come around. Hes the toughest man I know!"

"Did you see him at the picnic? He was awful. I wanted him to talk to Leta, at least. . "

"No spell can do that!"

"Well there could be something!"

"Then I'll come with you!"

"No! You're better off here!"

"I'm coming with you" Newt sighed, "You're relentless and hard to convince. So be it. But I'm not letting you practice dark magic unless you allow me to come".

"Fine" Tina gave in after hesitation, "Now just leave me alone!"

Before Tina could get up and leave, Jacob snuck into their room and closed the door.

"What is the matter with you, Jacob?" Tina scowled.

"Hey, look, guys, I'm nervous" Jacob had his hands in his pocket, as if he was fiddling something.

"What now?" Newt said.

"I'm planning to ask Queenie. . . "

"For a date?" Tina guessed.

". . .to marry me" Jacob finished his incomplete sentence, looking sullen.

"Jacob, that's great! Aw, she'll love it!" Newt clapped, "You have my approval, if. . . you awaited for it".

"Thanks!" Jacob broke into a cheery smile, "You, Tina?"

Tina hesitated before grinning, "Sure, you have the official permission from her sister and my blessings".

"D'you think I should just ask her out to dinner and then bring it up? Or should I just take her somewhere and ask her away?" Jacob said.

"Take her to Central Park. It's a good place where a lot of people had successful proposals. It's calm and quiet and you can just ask her out for a nice walk" Tina insisted.

"Yeah, that's good, thanks Tina".

"Hey!" Newt stopped him, "Show us the. . . ring".

Jacob chuckled as he opened the velvet box from his pocket. Inside was a simple diamond ring, studded with glittered ornaments around the diamond.

"That's amazing! She'll love it" Tina gave Jacob a well earned pat on the shoulder, "You'll make an amazing brother in-law".

"Aww, let's not get too far" Jacob couldn't stop smiling, "I'll ask her, then!"

"And one rule of being my brother in law, is. . I could use some cooking lessons" Tina rubbed the back of her neck, "I mean, Queenie goes to the advanced lessons when I can't even crack an egg".

"Alright. We'll work with that. But absolutely no wand waving when it comes to cooking with me"

"Darn. But good, I guess".

Jacob trotted away, eager to sort out a speech for the proposal.

Tina turned to Newt, "Well, I better get to my sister then".

"Don't propose to her for Jacob, Tina" Newt warned, for he knew she had a habit of not keeping secrets without breaking into fits of laughter.

"I'll use Occlumency to stop her from reading my mind" Tina assured, "Woo, my little sister is getting married!"

Back in Rio, Yusuf and Nagini were packing up to go back to their respective homes. Nagini to New York to live with Tina and the gang and Yusuf back to Paris.

"It's been nice working with you" Yusuf said.

"Yeah, I'll miss it" Nagini smiled sadly.

"Heard from Credence?" Yusuf asked.

"No. I wrote a letter to Dumbledore last week. He said he wasn't sure and he was being vague" Nagini said, "I can find him at New York".

"That boy is important. Dumbledore would be foolish to let him go"

"But he would. That man only cares about himself" Nagini spat, "He might be. . .dead".

"No he wouldn't be, Nagini" Yusuf hugged her, "He would be fine, somewhere else".

"But what if he's dead? I can't lose anyone anymore" Nagini sobbed silently.

"Hey, he wouldn't be" Yusuf assured her, "Until you find him, write to me. I can get some help from the Parisian Ministry and MACUSA to start a search party for him".

"Yeah thanks a lot, Yusuf".

"Glad to help. You're a wonderful person, Nagini. I wish you could work for the Ministry Task force later".

"I need to get an education qualification for that".

"You don't need that. You just need hope and a little bit of magic".

Nagini was sad that Yusuf was leaving home. They made a good crime fighting duo. They unearthed new mysteries and more. They did everything and now, they're thrown back to normal.

"I'll miss you, Nagini".

"Wow, a walk in Central Park is extremely refreshing!" Queenie remarked.

"Really?"

"It's just. . so fresh here. I'm just so happy to be leaving that stupid godforsaken inn. It's dimly lit and gloomy"

"Why don't we go near the fountains?" Jacob was so nervous that he wanted to get done with the proposal as soon as possible.

He made sure he kept the "proposal" thought away from his forebrain as much as he can.

Little did he know, Queenie sensed it.

"So, um, anything to say?" Queenie asked, "Oh, maybe a . . .proposal?"

"Darn it Queenie!" Jacob slammed his foot in frustration, "I had a speech prepared and everything!"

"Go on" Queenie smiled, cheekily, "You're gonna have to put up with this for all your life if you're interested".

"Alright, ahem" Jacob knelt down on one knee and opened the box.

"Queenie" he began, "You are truly the sweetest woman in the world. The best person ever. You've helped me through tough times and other questionable times when you made me drink too much or enchanted me".

Queenie giggled.

"I just wanted to ask you because you complete me. You're my other half. You're the sunshine. I wish you would marry me. Will you?"

Queenie was stunned for a moment, before she practically screamed, "Yes!"

She was spellbound by Jacob's speech. She was over the top delighted to hear the words "my other half" and kissed him.

"Now we're engaged!" Jacob slid the ring on her ring finger.

"These diamonds. . . They're so cute!"

"I picked it out" Jacob admitted proudly that he didn't ask anyone for help, "It was hard keeping a secret though".

"You tell me" Queenie smiled, "I love you, Jacob. So much".

"I love you to the moon and back"

Together, they walked home, not as two individuals, but as potential husband and wife.

Dumbledore came back to his safe house in New York. He had a bunch of houses like that, mostly for a cup of tea and a chat.

"I'm home" he declared, "I ought to finish my letter to Mr Flamel. He would be pleased, don't you think?"

He ruffled the boy's hair, "Want to help me with dinner? I can show you a few spells".

"Do you think it's safe now?"

"I don't think so" Albus took a seat next to him, "People are still looking for you. Especially the Ministry. They want to use you. Imprison you. Make you work".

"Ugh no" the boy was grossed out.

"So it's best if you stay with me here. When I return to London in a few weeks after I'm done corresponding with the President, I can take you there" Dumbledore said.

The boy took out his wand, "Lumos!" he muttered.

"Pity Grindelwald only taught you destructive spells. He hadn't taught you basic things yet" Albus remarked, "You're doing well, Credence".

Credence was contended. He found a good home and a good caring man.

"When can I meet her?" Credence asked.

"Who?"

"My sister" he said.

"It wouldn't be for another week" Albus emptied his bag of groceries, "but maybe I can ask Fontaine to get Modesty here, just for your safety's sake".

"You're a good brother, Albus" Credence hugged him, still convinced that he was a Dumbledore.

"Don't let Aberforth hear that" Albus joked, "Now come on, I'll cook us some good old fashioned dinner".

"Nox!"
