I've been with Hunter for one hundred and eighteen days now and I can't be any happier than I am right now.
He makes me feel like I'm the luckiest person on Earth and I hope that I make him feel the same way too. He is nothing but sweet to me. Sure, we had our fights and spats, but we always found our way back to each other. I love that about us.
Standing with my back against my locker, I read the text that Hunter had just sent me telling me that he was going to be here soon. A grin made its way to my face and I quickly replied him back. Then, I opened my locker and placed my things inside.
All of a sudden, a loud bang erupted beside me, causing me to flinch due to the piercing sound. I closed my locker and found the reason behind the loud bang.
"Melanie, what the hell?" I asked in disbelief.
"That would be my question to you. Hera, what the hell?" She asked with a bitter expression.
"Huh?"
"What are you still doing with Hunter Knight?"
I frowned in confusion at her weird question. "What?"
Melanie rolled her eyes in frustration. "Why are you still dating Hunter? What the hell is wrong with you?"
"Me? What's wrong with me? I think you should be asking what the hell is wrong with you because you're acting weird."
"It's you who's acting weird. What are you doing, Hera? How could you do this to Newt?" She asked with an accusing gaze.
The frowned on my face disappeared and shock took over. "How did you know?"
"So, you do know. You know, everyone could see just how much Newt was in love with you and you were the only blind bitch."
"H-he wasn't in l-love. It was just a crush." I stuttered nervously.
"Is that what you're telling yourself? I didn't know you would stoop this low. You know, I thought this whole Hunter thing wouldn't last long. I thought he would dump you over the summer but you're still with him. And I don't know what the fuck is wrong with Hunter because he can't seem to see just how ugly you are."
Don't listen to her, Hera. She's lying. She is just trying to get to you. Don't let her.
"What did you do, huh? How did you seduce him? How did you make two attractive boys fall for you, huh? What's your secret? Did you promise them a good fu-"
"Stop it, Melanie!" I cut her off from saying something so malicious. "What the hell is your problem? Why are you always so intent on hating me this much? I didn't do anything to you."
That seemed to anger her even more as I could almost see her nostrils flaring. "Shut the fuck up, you ignorant bitch. The fact that you don't know why I hate you makes me hate you even more. You hurt Newt and you'll pay for it. I promise you; you're going to pay for it."
"Why are you getting so worked up over Newt? You're not even friends with him anymore." I asked not getting her anger.
"You have no idea what Newt means to me, you fucking sl-"
"What is going on here?" A sharp voice asked from behind as his hands held my shoulders and pulled me close to him as a sign of comfort and protection.
"Hey, Hunter. There must be something wrong with you if you're still with her." Melanie said distastefully.

"Our relationship is none of your fucking business so, get the fuck out of here," Hunter said in a tone that gave me chills down my spine and not in a good way.
"Fine. The both of you can go to hell." Melanie said and left somewhat dramatically.
"You okay?" Hunter asked turning me around to face him.
"Yeah. Just a little confused as to what just happened." I said while replaying the whole conversation in my head.
Why was Melanie so mad that I was with Hunter and not Newt?
"Just ignore her, okay? Her words don't mean anything. You hear me, Hera?" Hunter cupped my cheeks and looked right into my eyes. "They don't mean a thing."
Ever since I told Hunter about Melanie and how her words pushed my self-esteem down to the ground, he constantly reminded me that I was beautiful and that she was wrong. He made me feel beautiful and worthy and because of him, I could actually love myself.
I smiled at Hunter fondly and placed my hands on his wrists. "Yes."
He caressed my cheeks and gave me a look that made my heart beat out of my chest. "You're beautiful, Hera. You know that, right?"
My smile widened as I nodded. Hunter smiled back at me and leaned in to give me a soft kiss on my forehead.
"I seriously don't get how you guys are related. Are you sure she's really your cousin?" Hunter asked as his shoulder leaned on the locker next to mine.
I chuckled. "As much as I want to not be related to her, sadly I really am."
"You know what? Let's not talk about her and ruin the mood. Let's talk about our date after school instead." Hunter said while tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear.
That instantly put a smile on my face. "You still won't tell me where you're taking me?"
He grinned. "Nope. It's a secret." Hunter stepped closer, taking away all my personal space. "You'll just have to wait and see."
"Is that so?" I asked playfully as my fingertips rested on Hunter's chest.
"That is so. Now, let me kiss you." He said as his eyes flickered to my lips.
"Wow, isn't that a bit too forward?" I asked teasingly.
"Sorry, but there is no 'too forward' in my dictionary when it comes to you." He wink-smirked.
Yes, I blushed. Obviously.
"I'm not letting you kiss me," I said suppressing my grin.
Hunter's face fell. "What? Why?"
"Because you won't tell me about this mysterious date. Therefore, I'm not letting you kiss me."
"No fair. Is this what I get for trying to be romantic?" Hunter pouted.
God damn it, how can I resist him when he's this cute? I literally have no self-control whenever I'm around him. "Are you acting cute to get me to kiss you?"
"Is it working?" He grinned.
"Yes." I laughed and pulled him in for a kiss we both wanted so badly.
We have kissed like a hundred times—maybe even more than that—but it always and I mean always feels so good. It has never not been dull or lacked of sparks. I feel the butterflies in my stomach and the tingles through my body each time we kiss. I wonder if that feeling will ever die.
I really hope it doesn't.
"Do you really need to blindfold me?" I asked Nina who dragged me to the entrance of the school the moment I ended my last class of the day.

"Yes. Hunter has given me specific instructions to do so. Please cooperate." She said.
"And you're part of this as well, Daredevil?" I asked Dare who looked like he was enjoying himself.
"Duh. You're my best friend's girlfriend and my girlfriend's best friend so- Woah, now that sounded weird."
"It did." Nina nodded.
Nina and Dare have been dating since two months ago. Ever since I introduced these two to each other, they have been crossing paths with each other more so than often and it slowly became deliberate instead of accidental.
They were honestly so cute together. Nina actually disliked Dare in the start partly because of Newt's views of his group and partly because he somehow unnerves her with just one look.
They almost didn't get together because Newt was so disappointed in her. Especially since Newt was already disappointed that Hunter and I were together. Nina came to me in tears about her big fight with him and the twins didn't talk to each other for a whole week. It broke my heart to see them like that.
But it was all resolved when Dare and I talked to Newt. Dare told him how he really feels about Nina and I told him that she really missed him. That made Newt realize he was hurting Nina and so, he apologizes to her right away. Nina then ran straight to Dare, and they became official in such an adorable way.
"So, Newt isn't part of this then?" I asked cautiously.
Nina gave me a sad smile.
When Newt found out about Hunter and I being official, he definitely wasn't our biggest supporter. Even if he didn't say it, it was obvious that he disliked Hunter with passion. He would still talk to me but when Hunter came our way, he would walk off and avoid him at all costs.
Honestly, it was hurtful that my best friend didn't even try to know my boyfriend but I understood that it must be hard for him since....the you-know-what. So, I didn't say anything and just let him be. The fact that he was still talking to me was more than enough for me.
"Oh. It's okay. I'm sure he has better things to do." I laughed awkwardly.
"He'll come around, I'm sure," Nina said while patting my shoulder. "Now, stop being difficult and let me blindfold you, woman!"
"Demanding, I love it." Dare said with a smirk only reserved for Nina.
"No! Please don't flirt when Hunter isn't here. You guys are too gross for me to handle it alone." I said.
"Oh my God!" Nina said all of a sudden as she stopped midway from blindfolding me. "I totally forgot to give you this."
She handed me a black rose.
"And I have one for you too." Dare said and handed me a similar black rose.
"You guys are giving me artificial roses?" I asked quizzically.
"Not us." She smirked. "Hunter."
Before I could even blush, Nina placed the black fabric over my eyes and tied a knot behind my head.
"Okay, all done! Let's go!" Nina interlocked our arms and began walking towards somewhere while guiding me along the way.
"What is Hunter up to?" I asked as my curiosity was piquing.
"Something romantic." Nina grinned.
"Who knew my best bud could be that romantic?" Dare asked.
Nina scoffed. "How would you know anything? You didn't even know your best bud was a total bookworm."
"Babe! You're supposed to be on my side!"
"What? I was just telling the truth! Oh, we're here!"
"Where are we?" I asked.
"I'm ignoring your question because our job is done here!" Nina said suddenly moving away from me.
"Wait, what? You're just leaving me here alone?"
"Nope. Someone else is going to take over." Dare said rather cheerfully.
"Who?"
"We're going now! Bye! Have fun with Hunter on your awesome date!" Nina said and with that, I heard their receding footsteps.
"Nina! Daredevil! What the hell! Don't leave me here alone! Guys!"
"Who said you were alone?"
My eyes widened. "Emily?"
"That would be me! And this is for you, dear." She said placing something in my palm. It had a similar texture to the black rose I was holding. Actually, it was the exact same texture.
"Is that another black rose?" I asked.
"Yes. Now, let's go." Emily said taking my free hand and started walking.
"Where?"
"You'll see." I felt her smiling.
"Will you at least tell me what Hunter is up to?" I asked hoping she would clue me in.
"I'm sorry dear, I'm not going to ruin his surprise for you. And trust me, it's worth the wait."
I smiled wide. "Okay."
After walking for some distance, Emily came to a halt. "We're here! And that means my job here is done! Hope you like what Hunter has prepared. He really went all out for you." She said and walked away.
Just what is my boyfriend up to?
"Am I here alone or is someone there?" I asked to no one specifically.
"I'm here."
I gasped at his voice. "Newt?"
"Hey, Hera." He grinned.
"B-but I thought-"
"Hunter somehow managed to convince me. So, here I am. This is for you." He said handing me what felt like a rose.
"A black rose?" I clarified.
"Yup. Though I have no idea why he chose black."
Because he loves black.
"Come on, let's get going," Newt said placing his hand on the small of my back and guiding me to some unknown place.
"So, you and Hunter are okay?" I asked cautiously.
"Oh no, I still don't like him. But we're not necessarily enemies now."
I shook my head. "You boys are so weird."
"We're here," Newt said as he came to a halt. "Before I let you go, I just want to say that I'm sorry I didn't give Hunter a chance. I'm sorry that I haven't been a good best friend to you. But I promise to be better. And I'm happy for you, Hera. Hunter seems like a good guy and I'm really happy that you're happy."
I immediately pulled Newt in an embrace. "You were never a bad best friend to me, you dimwit."
He chuckled. "I'm glad. Now, it's time for your date. Have fun, Hera." Newt let me go and walked away.
What do I do now?
"Take off your blindfold, Hera." A voice spoke from a distance.
A voice I have fallen in love with.
I wasted no time in ripping the blindfold off of my eyes. As soon as I was unblinded, I took in everything that was in my sight and this whole place took my breath away.
I was in a little boxy room with bookshelves filled with books attached to three out of the four pastel coral walls. The whole room was lighted up with purple neon strips attached to all the corners of the ceiling, making the whole place look amazing. There was a blanket in the middle of the room with different food items on it. There was also a portable projector in front of the blanket which projected a paused scene of a movie's opening credits on the wall without the bookshelf. And Hunter was standing before the blanket looking breathtakingly handsome.
"Hunter...." I said not believing that he set this whole thing up.
"Come here." He said smiling.
I did as he told. Once I got to him, he handed me a rose. But this time, in orange. I took it and looked at all the roses I received.
"Four black roses and one orange rose; what do they mean? And why are they artificial?"
"You like orange and I like black. The roses are artificial because I don't want them to die. When it's artificial, they last forever." He said with a heated gaze.
I think my heart might've melted right there and then.
"And the four black roses are surrounding the one and only orange rose giving it affection and protection. I don't know if that makes sense..." He said scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.
I giggled at my cute boy. "It doesn't. But I love it anyway." I said and captured his lips in mine and gave him a tender kiss. "I can't believe you did all this for me. Where even are we?"
"We're in the school library."
My eyes widened. "We are? But I have never seen this place before..."
"This is actually Emily's office. The storage room and the admin records are all here. This is just a smaller room that she doesn't really use. I was telling Emily about how I wanted you to have the best date and she suggested I have it here since this library means a lot for the both of us. So, with the help of Nina and Dare, we cleaned this whole place up and decorated it with LED strip lights. Then, I got the indoor picnic and movie date set up right here." He said pointing to the blanket with the food items.
"Hunter, this is amazing! This is- oh my God, I don't really know what to say. You got me speechless."
Hunter grinned and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Just tell me if you like it. That's all I want to know."
"Like it?" I shook my head. "Love it?" I nodded with a happy smile. "I love it so, so much," I said softly.
"Well, don't love it too much just yet. We haven't even started the date." He chuckled. "Do take your seat right here, ma lady."
I giggled as I took my seat on the blanket. "Oh my God, the gentleman role really doesn't fit you."
"Fine, I'll be the bad boy you like so much." He smirked while he settled down beside me.
I shook my head. "I like the booknerd in you better. It makes you less scary and more approachable." I said honestly.
"Really?"
"Yeah. I remember being terrified of you even before we met. That's why the first time we met; I couldn't speak to you at all. Plus, there's also the fact that you came to me first and talked to me. You really surprised me that day."
Hunter smirked all of a sudden. "Want to know a secret?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Uh, sure."
"You caught my attention the moment you walked into the Young Adult section."
My eyes went wide at this new piece of information. "What? Why? How?"
Hunter chuckled. "I was just about to re-read the book One of Us is Lying when you walked past me. I looked up and found you walking around like a lost puppy. I watched you go through so many books in a distressed manner and for some reason, it was just very entertaining to me."
I slapped Hunter's arm instantaneously. "How could you, you creep!"
"Hey! I'm not a creep! I'm pretty sure everyone in the library saw your 'lost-puppy' state that day."
"No!" I said horrified. "Oh my God, this is so embarrassing," I said as I hid my face in my palms.
Hunter circled my wrists with his hands and pulled them away from my face gently. "If I didn't see you knocking your forehead on the bookshelf repeatedly, I wouldn't have approached you and that means I would have never got to know you, Hera."
"Is that supposed to make me feel better?"
"Is it working?" He grinned.
"You're such an idiot, Hunter." I laughed.
He chuckled. "Come on, let's eat and watch your favorite movie."
I frowned. "I don't think I have ever told you what's my favorite movie."
"You're right. You haven't. But that doesn't mean I don't have other sources."
I sighed. "It's Nina, isn't it?"
Nina became fond of Hunter the moment we started dating. She was really happy for me and became the biggest fan of our relationship. Her words, not mine. She even gave us a stupid ship name called 'Henter'. It's horrible but it is what it is.
"I will neither deny nor confirm that."
"Whatever. Let's just see if you got it right."
"You can watch it yourself and tell me if I got it right. And if I do, I deserve a kiss here." Hunter said while patting his cheek with his index finger.
"Deal."
He then hit a button and the opening scene of 'Game Night' played on the wall through the portable video projector. A grin unknowingly appeared on me as I was completely sure that Hunter would get it right.
I turned to him and found him smiling smugly, "Come here."
He snuggled in closer to me and let his left cheek face me. I leaned into peck his cheek, but he suddenly turned his head and took my lips in his instead. I moved away in shock, but Hunter just grinned at me.
"I think I need more than just a peck." He said cheekily.
"You're such a sneaky bastard!"
Hunter laughed and cupped my cheek to take my lips in his again. I kissed him back with everything I got, hoping that it would show him how I felt about everything he had done for me today. To say that I was happy would be an understatement. He has made me ecstatic and undeniably gave me the best date of my life.
I broke the kiss apart only because of my dire need for air. I let my forehead rest against Hunter's while I breathed in heavily.
"I love you."
