well, we made it y'all. after 3 years and 2 months, we're here. i never thought i'd see the day where i would write this very note to close out this story. this story that seemingly had no end in sight. this story that has aged me so much i think i might be in my next life already. this story that means the absolute fucking world to me.

i say it about all of my works, but this story really holds a special place in my heart, more so than any others. i got tired of the same romance narrative and wanted to write a story solely about a relationship in itself. starting from a really bad place and working to repair it from there; all the pain, growth, and change that come with it. i wanted to shed light on the shit that happens after the honeymoon phase fizzles out, which we never get to see. i wanted to show the ugly parts of love that we tend to keep hidden. more importantly, i wanted to talk about how you can love someone so much... but sometimes that's just not enough.

this was not a story for the lighthearted. this was not for those who want a perfect fairytale ending, with crisp edges, spotless pages, and a predictable plot from the moment you read the first line. this was not a love story – this was a story about love.

and love is fucking hard. it's frustrating. and messy. and heartbreaking. confusing. exciting. raw. magical. emotional. corny. ridiculous. but it's real life, and that's exactly what i wanted to give with this story.

i hope this story touched you in some way. i hope you connected with it, whether it was just a paragraph in chapter one or the whole damn thing (and bless your soul if it's the latter). i hope you enjoyed the rollercoaster ride that this story was (and my god it was a BUMPY one). i hope it got you to forget about everything for a little bit and transported you to a whole different world (while still giving you a heavy dose of reality bc we can never truly escape that). i hope you take a piece of this story with you wherever you go.

and hey, maybe it didn't give you want you wanted, but it gave you something you already had.
