Chapter Thirty One ▪︎

ahlia miraculously healed by noon, and nobody knew how. She noticed that she felt absolutely no pain in her neck, even after the drugs wore off, and took off her bandages herself.

She called out to Alex and they both stood in front of the bathroom mirror and stared at her neck. The only indication that she was ever injured was a small scar, but it wasn't even shaped like a bite scar should have been.

They are usually two large dots, but this one was different. It had the two dots, but there were thin black lines around it. Lines like veins, but extremely thin and dark.

Dahlia was still weak, possibly weaker than before.

Everybody was in distress. The King was losing his mind. He didn't know what Thanatos did to their mate, and he hated it. He was used to knowing everything and having an answer to every question, but this was new teritory to him.

This time, he was in the dark. He didn't know what to do. He was lost with no direction to go in.

All he could do was wait.

Dahlia and Isaac didn't speak to each other again.

The clock ticked midnight, but there were no cheers or happiness in their home.

All they had were unanswered questions and a fading Dahlia.

"I have to turn you, I can't watch you die." Alex got up and started pacing the room.

"I'll be fine, let's not rush into this." She assured him from the hospital bed.

"Dahlia, he isn't just a normal vampire! Not even I know what he can do, what he is capable of. For heaven's sake, please let me turn you and end this. I assure you that you won't even feel a thing." He pleaded with her as he took her hand in his and sat next to her bed.

"What if he put some poison in me and you turning me kills me instead?" She asked him. "We know nothing about this, but I am fairly certain that he would never harm me. I am his mate as much as I am yours."

"Why don't we ask him?" Isaac called out from the corner of the room.

"What?" The both asked him.

"We can chain you with a spell, I have a very talented witch in the castle. After we are sure you can't escape, you let him out." Isaac suggested.

"We have nothing to lose here." Dahlia looked at Alex.

He reluctantly nodded.

The spell was cast. Alexander was in a chair, tied by chains infused with dark magic.

The witch stayed in the room for safety measures. Isaac and Dahlia were the only ones allowed near The King, though.

It was Alex's turn. He closed his eyes and dug deep into his head where he found him, but the beast didn't want to come out.

"He doesn't want to come out. He seems scared." He told them.

"Thanatos, can you hear me?" Dahlia called out.

Alex felt a shift in his head.

"Yes, he can. Keep speaking." He instructed her.

"Can you tell me what you did to me?" She asked him.

Thanatos opened his eyes. Dahlia stepped back, only for him to break the chains and reach out to her. He pulled her into his lap and sniffed her neck. Her heart was pounding like a drum and her head was dizzy over how fast he pulled her. Isaac quickly went to grab her, but the beast had other intentions. He sent Isaac flying to the nearest wall where he collapsed and he broke his neck, all with a simple thought.

Dahlia was now petrified. She didn't know of any creature that could do that. She realised he wasn't just an old vampire, he was a dark creature that created vampires. It was only then that the words registered in her mind, "he isn't just a normal vampire".

The witch spoke something, but it was futile. With a look, her head was separated from her shoulders, and her body slumped to the ground.

"What did you want to know?" He kissed along her shoulders, slowly nearing her mark.

"What is happening to me?" She asked shakily, she didn't know if it was because of her fear or the excitement he was eliciting upon her with his lips.

"I don't really know." He stopped. "It wasn't me that did anything different, I only marked you, you should be feeling energized as ever."

"...What?" She asked confused. "If you didn't do this, who did?"

"My best guess is that your body is rejecting my venom. I mean the one that made you feel good from the bite." He continued kissing her neck once again.

"Why would it do that?" She asked.

"Maybe you're not human after all. I mean, the lycan blood addiction? What was that?" He angrily tightened his hold on her, just enough to let her know that he didn't like it, at all.

"And the fact that you could hear what that ogre and Alexander were talking about, even though they were long out of your hearing distance? You might be a bit more special than you think, Dahlia." He spoke between kisses.

She felt his grip loosen and she instantly sat up, only to find that the beast went back to sulking, and she was now faced with Alexander.

"What was that?"
