ahlia was feeling awfully weak. Her limbs felt like jello and her whole body seemed to radiate heat, the centre being her neck.

She heard distant yelling.

"... how could you not tell me?"

"...she is barely of age... how dare... you monster!"

The voices both seemed familiar. The calmer one being Alexander's and the louder, more agressive one was unfamiliar.

Her eyes snapped open. The room seemed familiar to her former hospital room, only much less luxurious and smaller.

She remembered his words, 'call me if you need, but no need to yell.'

"A-alex."

"How are you feeling? I'm so sorry, I really didn't mean to, you know I warned you about him and being on edge-" he rambled in panic of losing the barely existing bond they created over the holidays.

"I know. It's my fault, I should have known. But it's just a bite, it'll heal." She smiled sleepily. "What drugs am I on? I can barely feel anything." She told him as her lids slowly shut and opened heavily like they were carved out of lead.

"I wasn't sure if you were hurting so we went pretty heavily with the pain medications." He dropped his eyes down to the IV in her hand.

"I'm fine, but really weak. Who were you talking to earlier? The voice seemed familiar." She jawned.

"How did you hear us?" Alex looked at his mate in wonder.

They were basically a baseball field away from her, there was no way they could be heard in her room.

"You weren't that far away, I heard a few parts. Maybe my hearing was hightened because my eyes were closed for so long. I heard that could happen to humans." She streched her numb legs. "Could you please stop the drugs, they are not necessary." She asked hin politely.

He stopped the IV bag from dripping any more fluids.

"Thank you." She smiled at him. "How much more until we're in Brisbane?"

"We are already there. Dahlia, it's New Year's Eve." He looked at her neck guiltily.

"What do you mean? He didn't drink that much blood, as far as I can remember, he barely even bit me." She was confused. She pulled the covers off her body and carefully touched her neck. It was covered in bandages, as she expected.

"Don't touch it, please." He groaned as he gripped his head in what appeared to be frustration.

"Sorry..." She muttered.

Someone appeared in the hallway. The man was tall and seemed familiar to Dahlia, but she couldn't connect the dots.

"Dahlia?"

"Who are you?" She quizzed him.

Her eyes suddenly brightened and she broke out in a grin.

"Is it really you?" She went to get up and the man whooshed to her to grab her before she fell.

She looked up at him. He had changed drastically. His hair was now long and clipped at the sides, whereas she was used to seeing him with a buzzcut. His eyes seemed brighter and his face had no bruises or scars littering it.

"Hello, sis." He smiled at her and hugged her close.

She cringed slightly as her neck tingled from the foreign contact. It didn't exactly hurt, but she didn't enjoy it too much.

"What happened to you? Why didn't you tell me you were alive? I've been working my ass off to pay our bills nad you've been living here like a king!" Her wonder and surprise soon turned to anger.

"I waited for you my whole life! I didn't leave that dump of a city, hoping you would come back and fix everything! I trusted you!" She yelled as she pushed him.

"Why did you do this to me?!" She cried out and fell down to her knees, sobbing in anger amd despair.

She never felt so awful. She was weak both emotionally and physically, and she certainly wasn't too strong mentally either.

All these changes took a toll on her and it seems that she only now realised it.

She was breaking like fine porcelain, her brother being the one to carelessly drop her. She thought everything would be fine and that seeing him would make her happy, but now that it actually happened, she realised she wasn't ready.

She was uncontiously thinking of him as a dead man, a ghost she was hoping to see, but she knew it would never happen.

She couldn't take it. He killed her father and left.

Alexander was shocked at her reaction. He expected her to be skipping around the room in joy, not sobbing on her knees. He rushed to her and hugged her close as she sobbed in his shoulder.

"I think you should leave." Alex told his mate's brother, Isaac.

Alex obeyed, leaving with a grim expression on his face, his eyes flickering to his broken sister.

"I'm sorry." He whispered.

Her eyes flickered up at him.

"For what, exactly?"

It was rhetorical question and he knew it.

He turned around and walked to the hallway, but not before turning around and whispering, "Everything."
