Chapter Eighteen- Part Two ︎ The King's Queen
"m sure there was a reason, my King. I sincerely doubt your mate would willingly do something like that." The doctor, Arya, bowed her head in a sign of submission.
Dahlia was still in shock. She wasn't sure if she should jump out of the window or pretend to pass out again.
"Is she okay?" He growled at the poor woman.
"I am." Dahlia answered instead of Arya, not liking the fact that Alexander was ignoring her.
She blamed it on the mate bond.
He glared at her. The simple eye contact was enough to calm down his beast and awaken the zoo in her empty stomach.
"What were you thinking? He could have hurt you, why would you even leave the city?" He moved closer to her. Dahlia sunk further in her bed in fear of his open questioning and her brain was still fuzzy since she just woke up from a days long slumber.
"Please, I'll tell you everything, just let me explain." She gripped her hair as she brought her knees to her chest. The machine was still cleansing her polluted blood and the tubes felt uncomfortable when she moved.
Dr. Arya came up to her and rubbed a hand up and down her back. She whispered something incoherent to The King and he left the room. She continued calming Dahlia down by whispering soothing words to her ear and hugging her.
Dahlia was crying by now and her lips were dry and cracked due to being severely dehydrated.
"It's all going to be fine." The doctor lied.

"What were you thinking?!" The doctor yelled at The King. It was strange to see, but they were long time friends.
The asian spitfire was one of the few people Alexander would allow to touch his mate or yell at him.

"I was angry! You know what sharing blood means to us, how would you react if Zach let someone else drink his blood?" He reasoned.
He was angry at himself for what he said, but he was mostly scared of what Dahlia now thinks of him. The 'what ifs' rolling through his mind were toxic and fueled by his unhealthy self-doubt and fear of hurting and possibly losing her.
The girl rolled her eyes and calmed down at his reasoning.
"What do you think I should do? She is clearly scared of me." He hung his head low and gripped his hair in his fists.
"Bring her flowers. Every girl likes flowers. Oh, maybe you could take her out to your garden. But that would probably scare her away." The doctor rambled.
The King had a garden full of healthy, multicolor dahlias in the back of the castle he lives in.
"I like dahlias, the human one and the flowers." He grinned at his friend.
"Maybe you could give her exotic fruits and something exciting to do. Not many humans have lived carefree lives and had enough money and free time to indulge in such luxuries." She proposed.
"Dahlia isn't like that. She lived the luxurious life once before, and she fled from it." He frowned.
"Oh right. The hunter thing."
"I could bring her mother or Isaac to the hospital."
"I'm not so sure about the mother, but I could put her on a rehab program. The brother is probably on some killing spree and it might be too much for her to handle him being one of your assasins."
"Then what do I do, Zi?" The King slumped in a chair.
"Maybe you could tell her one of your stories. It works with the hospital kids. She is basically a child."

"The Legend of Shadow, maybe?" The King asked.
"That would be great."
¤ Note: the legend of shadow is an actual legend i posted on my profile. It will soon be turned into a sequence of books, as I am already writing the first book. Please do check it out and vote and comment on it. It only has one chapter, but I still need a cover for all three of my books.
The first being The King's Queen, the second The Legend of Shadow and the third The Shadow.
Whoa that is a lot of 'the's.
