《If You Let Me》Chapter 7

I think you're divine
It was a little after 10:00 when Kairi and I came back from my sister, Danielle's house.
She had been staying there over the past week since my mom's been on vacation and Millie's ass been MIA. I knew that I was going to be working late all this week so I didn't wanna keep her here with me.
When I walked in the penthouse, everything looked exactly how I had left it. I almost forgot that Allaya was living with me now.
I hadn't seen her ass all day. She probably went out or something because I couldn't hear any movement from her section.
I smirked to myself thinking about our earlier encounter. Shorty prolly didn't think that I saw her checking me out.
Staring at me and licking her lips. She keep it up and she gone get exactly what she looking for.
But nah for real tho. She ain't really my type. I mean she's a beautiful girl but she's too quiet. I like my bitches loud and extra. In my face with them long ass nails and bundles.
And Allaya was none of that. I don't think she even wore nail polish. The most I've seen her in this week was sweats and a hoodie or jeans and a T-shirt.
Her ass was stuck up too. I saw her walking around the studio rolling ha eyes and shit. That's why I'm always mean to her. Gotta knock that ass back down.
Huh plus it's funny to see her react to my little comments and shit.
I put Kairi's stuff down in her room and got her ready for bed. After I was sure she was asleep, I went into my room and took a shower.
Hearing my phone go off. I walked out the bathroom with a towel on my waist to see who was texting me.
It was my group chat with the gang.

I hate these niggas man. And Freaky ass always be on some goofy shit.
I changed into some basketball shorts and settled on playing some 2k for the rest of the night.
I should go bother Allaya's ass, nah she prolly sleep or some shit.
A few hours later I was woken up by screaming coming from babygirl's room.
I leapt out of bed and rushed to her room, across the hall from mine.
Kairi was standing up in her crib balling her eyes out and reaching for me.
"Daddy Daddy Daddy", she screamed in between crying.
"Come her baby what's wrong huh?!"
I flicked on the light and walked into the kitchen to get her a sippy cup with some milk in it. Maybe she had a bad dream or something.

But it was no use. She just laid in my arms crying.
I felt so helpless, I didn't know what to do. I never experienced Kairi like this...ever and my mom wasn't here to help me.
A few minutes passed with me sitting on the counter with a crying Kairi in my arms. It was then that I noticed Allaya walking towards me.
She had on green tie dye Thrasher hoodie and some little ass plaid pajama shorts and her glasses.
"Is everything alright?" she asked.
I couldn't help how I responded to her. I was just so stressed and tired.
/•/
After a few more minutes, Allaya turned the shower off and dried Kairi with the towel I gave her.
"Can you hold her while I put on her clothes" she asked.
Kairi was knocked out cold from whatever medicine she was given.
I held her up as Allaya put a white onesie and socks on her.
"I think you can put her to bed now. She's knocked out cold" she laughed a little while pushing a curl out of Kairi's face.
"But check on her in a few hours, she'll need water and food".
I nodded my head and finally spoke up.
"Imma put her in the bed and come back. Stay here I wanna talk to you"
She looked at me nervously and replied with a simple "ok".
I turned and went into Kairi's room to tuck her in. I kissed her forehead, dimmed the lights and left the door open a little, so that I would be able to hear her.
When I went back into the bathroom everything was put back neatly, but Allaya was gone.
I ventured into the kitchen to see her grabbing a bottle of water out of the fridge. She closed it and jumped back after seeing me.
"Oh shit! You scared me" she said while clutching the water bottle to her chest.
"My bad ma." I rubbed the back of my head and motioned for her to sit with me in the living room
"Listen I don't know how imma ever thank you enough for helping me tonight. I couldn't get her to stop and you just stepped him and made it all better." I released.
I was honestly grateful for everything Allaya did. She could've went right back to bed and left me to struggle with Kairi.
"It's no problem at all. You seem like a great dad, you just needed a little help. If you ever need any help with her again just let me know" she said while smiling.
She had a gorgeous smile.
I stopped staring at her and asked the question that was bugging me from earlier.

"You got kids? I mean how did you know what to do?"
She looked down at her hands in her lap then back up at me.
"Nah I don't have any kids. I guess I just know how to take care of people. I watched my mom do it for a long time so I learned from her."
I nodded, understanding where she was coming from.
I scooted closer to her on the couch and she tensed up a bit.
"Look ma. I wanna apologize for how I spoke to you. And I don't only mean earlier." I said sincerely.
I honestly felt like shit because as she talked to me, I could tell she was kinda sweet.
She looked up at me from under her lashes and said with a small smile.
"First of all my name isn't ma and apology accepted"
I smiled back at her and licked my lips. Shorty really didn't know she could get it if she kept looking at me like that.
I would kill to see what was underneath that big ass hoodie.
She cleared her throat and I snapped my eyes back to her face.
"So how was your first week and shit?" I asked.
She giggled and laid her head back against the couch.
"It was great. Definitely super busy but Eva is very helpful. At first I thought my only duty was bringing you lunch but now I know it's so much more than that" she sighed after speaking.
I laughed at her last few words "Whatchu mean lil girl. That's your most important task...to feed me."
She mugged me and shook her head "Nah get your own lunch from now on lil boy". She said while looking me up and down.
"Oh I got your lil boy. Keep playing" I responded just to fuck wit her.
Her eyes got wide and she blushed.
We sat in a comfortable silence until she spoke again.
"I don't think I can go back to sleep after this"
"Me either. We can stay out here if you want and watch a movie." I responded, secretly hoping she'd agree.
"Yeah I don't mind, you can pick it. I need to go to the bathroom."
She got up fixing them lil ass shorts she had on before going to the bathroom. Laya got a fat ass I thought to myself. She needa stop hiding that under all them clothes she be wearing.
I decided that we would watch Bad Boys II on Netflix. She came back and sat in the other end of the sofa, even further from where she was sitting last time.
"Oh I love this movie" she said while positioning her feet under her.
I was curious to know more about her. She was too quiet and mysterious. So I couldn't help but pry.
"So Ms. Laya tell me about yourself"
She removed her eyes from the tv and looked at me confusingly and asked,
"What do you wanna know?"
"I don't know... anything. Like where you from, how old are you, shit like that. You basically a stranger in my house"
" Well I was born and raised in Turks and I came to New York for college when I was 17. Now I'm 23. My birthday is in early
March so that makes me a Pisces." She chuckled a bit.
"Umm what else. Oh I have an older brother, who I don't see very often. My favorite color is black and that's all I can think of."
"I didn't know you were from the islands. No wonder why you talk like that. My ma is from the Dominican and my dad is Bajan." I responded.
"Shit you a Pisces too? That means you crazy as hell" I laughed at her.
She giggled and motioned with her hand "Just a lil bit."
"Now it's your turn. Tell me something about you that I won't find online" she retorted.
"Damn that's tough. I guess I could say that I use to wanna be in the NBA before rap. But rap was more of my passion than playing ball"
"What?! You look like you could ball a bit" she replied.
"A bit?! Girl I'd whoop yo ass on the court" I laughed.
" Trust me I'm not doubting you. But it would be an unfair advantage because I can barely put the ball in the hoop." she joked.
Talking with Allaya was so easy. She wasn't like most females I talked to. They were always trying to flirt or talking about themselves the entire time. Having a conversation with her was kinda refreshing.
The rest of the night we asked each other questions and occasionally watched the movie. We were actually becoming friends.
We both eventually dozed off on the couch. I don't know how it happened but we ended up sleeping side by side. With her facing the couch and me spooning her with my had wrapped around her waist and the blanket thrown across us.
I would've gotten up to move her to the bed. But I ain't gon lie, I didn't want to.
