Live. Study. Repeat. Tal never saw himself as an adventurer, but the call to adventure never much cared for his opinion. Despite his best efforts, his search for answers on the murder of his parents ever draws him into danger. Accompanied by a group of seasoned warriors, thus far Tal has gotten by on his own meager magical talents, but when one day he wakes up to find himself back in his bed of the night before, he is faced with a challenge he must conquer alone. What to expect: This story was born of an attempt to create in world lore reasons for many of the mechanics and tropes of D&D, but you do not need to know of them to enjoy the story. It's a single POV time loop story with slow paced progression fantasy elements. The story is not one of fast-paced power ups and non-stop action, but as it progresses, the action picks up. There is a lot of magic system exploration on a system built to unify the diverse magic of D&D into one cohesive magic system. The setting is an original world with familiar races and monsters but with new unique origins and motivations. The average chapter will be 2-5k words long, most being around 3k but there are a few less than 1k, due to the nature of the story telling device I used. Book 1 is complete. Posting is on hold until I finish book 2. Book 2 progress: The rough draft is done at 141656 words as of 7/9/2022. I need to reread and edit it but Im aiming for resuming chapters in September.

Dan Martin has a good life. He's respected at his job, and enjoys his work. He is close to his family, and they love and support him. With engaging hobbies, relative financial security, and freedom to learn and pursue his interests, Dan is happy. So it's not particularly welcome when he's selected by an inscrutable and seemingly omnipotent System as a test subject. The downsides: All of this is insane and by any rational analysis he's gonna die. The upsides: Super powers, a cure for a physical disability that had limited him, and above all, so very much to learn (for as long as he can avoid dying). I am very much a beginner as an author, and any feedback or suggestions on how to improve would be deeply appreciated. Chapter releases should be daily for the first two weeks and sporadic after that as I use up my buffer. Please consider this work as a rough draft subject to revision and/or retcon. It is not only my first attempt at original story telling, but at world building and RPG style system design. The latter has been very difficult, even drawing on the brilliant work of many RPGs and LitRPGs for inspiration. Thank you to any willing to give a new story and a new writer a try!

Author's note: the new world where Michiko is reincarnated is more or less the world of Warhammer. There will probably be some things that are inconsistent with the lore and I will be making some assumptions of my own so please don't quote me on it. The universe consists of two known planes of existence. The Demon plane and the Mortal plane. The Demon plane is the home to seven races of demons, while the Mortal plane is home to the Human race and their bizarre mutations and magical skills.The Mortal plane is a plane where countless humans live in densely populated cities. The complete opposite to the sparse populations of the Demon plane. Just as much as the Demons have powers, there are some mortals who have powers too. Mutations that create powerful Humans called Vigors as well as magic users who can cast spells or traverse the two planes.The Demon plane is ruled over by seven Demon lords and a king, while the other, less powerful demons fall into line behind these Demon lords. These Demon lords grant powers to their subjects, creating the seven demon races. All Demons can move between the two planes, but most choose not to due to their hatred of the Human race, but some do for a single thing. To have children, for Demons can only be male. At least- they should.Elmira is the first female demon and due to her unique circumstance and the demon's hatred of Humans, they wish to make her their queen with which they can have 'pure' children with. Elmira and her brother, Lucifer have other ideas. As a plan hidden from her other brothers and Satan, her Father, Lucifer sends her off to the Mortal plane in an effort to hide her amongst the Humans. However, it takes time to get used to the Mortal plane and the people within who have their own ideas as to what she should do.Warning: Tagged 17+ for gore, strong language and violence.
