《Elves Of Old Series : Unforeseen Events》Chapter 14 Decisions Decisions

"Eragon?"

He looked up from his desk at me expectantly. I could tell he wasn't really working, just staring at the papers in front of him. That's why I decided to interupt him.

Sighing I continued "Could you please take me to the summer court so I can tell Arramen my decision?" I had decided what I wanted to do a few hours ago and had told Eragon, but now I just had to tell Arramen.

"Of course I can. Would you like to meet him at the border between courts for some neutral territory or go and talk straight in the middle of his court." His tone was, I don't know, off I guess.

"Neutral territory is best I think" I say

He sighlently gathered some papers and put them in a draw and stood up.

"Let's go." It's sharp and formal. It annoys me.

He grabs my wrist and pulls me behind him when he praticaly storms off.

"Septimus! We're going to neutral territory." I frown at him when he snaps at his friend.

I tug my wrist out of his hand so hard he spins to look at me.

"What is up with you?" I demand, but then soften my tone. "You have been angry and snappy since I told you what I wanted to do."

He sighs and rubs his eyes with his now free hands, then sighs again.

"I'm fine." I wait for him to say more. Untill I realise that was it. Just two words. The feeling of disappointment settles in the pit of my stomach. He's someone who is fun and talkative is suddenly angry and quite. I continue to stare at him but whenever I try to meet his eyes, he avoids them.

Septimus approaches us cautiously, obviously feeling the slight tension.

He holds out both his hands and we take them and shadow travel.

The world came into focus. We were the opposite side of a line, border if you will. We had arrived on the side with brown, crunchy leaves under our feet and trees covered with bronze, gold, yellow, orange and red leaves. This continued far behind us. A forest I realised.

We were in the Autumn court.

On the opposite side of the line there was a meadow filled with nearly every wild flower I could name and more I had never seen in my life.

That is where Arramen would come from. That was the Spring court.

Eragon had let go of Septimus' hand and had walked over to a rock. I expected him to sit on it but he stood ram rod straight, like someone had shoved a meter stick into his shirt.

I opened my mouth to say something to him, I had no clue what I would say but I would have said something, anything but Septimus interrupted before I could even think.

"Don't. Don't say anything. Leave him alone, let him sulk for a bit then you can try, but if you say anything now. You will only make things worse."

I dragged my eyes away from Eragons back, up to Septimus' dark eyes. He was looking down at me with a cold stone face. He took in my dejected and miserable face and tired to smile for my benefit. We both know it didn't work and help my mood, but at least he had tried.

The rhythmic puls of horse hoves were suddenly heard in the extending silence. Arramen was close. I stood up and looked to where he would come from. A few minutes later Arramen, Farross and Saphira all pull there horses to a stop.

I began to speak before I lost my nerve. "I am officially leaving your court Arramen. I want nothing to so with the Summer court. I have decided to live in the Night court for the foreseeable future. I am cutting all ties with you and your court and I expect to be treated as such if I am to ever go there on business." I sighlently congratulate myself on sounding cold and professional.

"Both High lords must agree on these terms." Farross said.

"I, Lord Eragon Caligo Nox, agree to the terms of Luna Iris Ferradonna that she has now no longer associates herself with Lord Arramen Sherrefind and live in my court for the foreseeable future." Eragons tone was flat and he said every word with a slight stiffness.

Arramen rolled his eyes and muttered "Of course you do". He then looked me sighs and said "I, Lord Arramen Wentith Sherefind agree to the terms of Luna Iris Freeadonna that she will no longer associate herself with myself and live in Lord Eragon's court for the foreseeable future."

The awkward silence drew on as the two men glared at each other. Eragon nodded to Septimus and he grabbed our hands shadow travelling back to the Night Court.

"There is a house for you in the city. Morena will take you there and help you move in." Eragon said over his shoulder as he began to walk back to his office.

I quickly ran after him and graves his arm pulling him to a stop so I could stand in front of him. "Tell me why you are so angry." I demanded. I put a hand on his chest in the hopes he wouldn't move.

"Fine if you must know. I enjoy your company and you will be moving out and it feels like you want nothing to do with me." He finally spat out. He brushed off my hand and stormed past me.

I realised he was unhappy about it but he would do nothing just because I wanted to do it.

Morena and I packed up all my stuff I had with me and we went to the house. It was beautiful. A small cottage in a quiet place. It was very artistic like one on a Christmas card but with no snow. It had small white flowers in the front garden and a small stone path leading up to the front door.

Walking in I could tell it had been specifically picked to things I like.

"Eragon designed the inside hoping you'll like it." Morena said from behind me. I hadn't even realised I had stopped to take it all in.

"Eragon did all this for me?" I wandered around the little cottage taking in each detail.

A few hours later Morena had gone home and I was alone for the first time.
