《Elves Of Old Series : Unforeseen Events》Chapter 11 The Others

At dinner, when Morena, Eragon and I arrived, there was two people already siting at the table.
"So you're her." Said Lysandrea in an unimpressed tone, "I'm Lysandrea if you didn't already know."
Morena sat facing Lysandrea and I sat next to her, facing Septimus, who's face was comical. He looked like he wished he was anywhere but next to Lysandrea. "I'm Septimus. It's nice to meet you. I know I must have seemed a bit rude when I dropped you off this morning and I apologise. I thought that you would have preferred to be alone with Eragon when you first arrived."
Laughing Morena said, "I have never heard him say so many words in one go in front of new company."
While this all had taken place Eragon had filled five goblets with wine and had sat down.
"What's your power? Lysandrea bluntly asked.
"Excuse me?" I was startled by her question since I had only just met her.
"What's your power?" She repeated.
Checking my shield was still up, Eragon had told me it was best if I left it up for dinner, I cautiously replied, "I'm a shape shifter."
"Change" She demanded.
"What?"
"You heard me. Change"
"No"
Lysandrea blinked in surprise then her face rapidly darkened and she let out a quite growl. Clearly she had never been told no. "What did you say!?"
"I said no. I'm not going to change for you"
"You little-"
"Lysandrea calm down" Morena said.
It was the wrong thing to say.
Standing Lysandrea thrust her hand out towards me. A blinding pain shot through my mind, feeling as though all my bones were being smashed and shattered all at once. I screamed in pain.
Splitting through the agony I heard Eragon shout, "LYSANDREA! STOP IT AND SIT DOWN. NOW!" his shout was full of dark rage. It echoed throughout the room. It was so terrifying it would make a grown man cry. It did the job, the pain immediately disappeared and looking up I saw that Lysandrea had sat down and had hung her head, just as I suspected there were tears slowly sliding down her face.

We ate the rest of dinner in silence.
When it was over Lysandrea practically ran from the room, Septimus slipped out the room quickly and quietly right after.
Morena said good night and went up the stairs. That left me and Eragon. He quietly asked if I wanted a drink in the library with him. I agreed.
As soon as we entered the library, he turned to me and said, "I truly am verry sorry. I never meant for you too meet more of my inner circle like that. Lysandrea isn't the nicest but I usually make excuses for her. Today, what she did to you, was completely out of order." There were tears in his eyes and guilt flooded my body.
I knew perfectly well it was not mine.
I pored two drinks and pulled him to a chair whilst he apologised over and over again. I gave him one of the glasses. He stopped apologising just to take a sip of his drink.
I took the opportunity to say, "I didn't want to change for her because I can't do it. The only time I could was when the bull attacked me."
"It would be your magical instinct saving you."
"How can I change without putting myself in life threatening situations?"
"Training" he simply stated, "Training we are going to do now"
"Now?"
"Yes, now"
He told me to stand in the middle of the room and look inwards. Using my magic I followed his instructions to reach out and grabbed the threads of energy that were inside me. This took a few tries.
When I managed it, I willed myself to become a wolf because that was what felt the most natural to me. The world grew around me as I changed. Then suddenly I was looking up at Eragon.
He knelt next to me and I could see my reflection in his eyes. A powerful grey wolf with my emerald green eyes looked back at me.
"Magnificent" he muttered.

With my new hearing I heard every word like it was spoken right into my ears. He stroked my fur and checked my teeth. "Wow, I would not like those to sink into my arm" he quietly chuckled to himself.
"Alright change back and then go back into wolf form until you can do it without thinking"
I did as I was told. It quickly became very easy to change into wolf form.
Once I was done Eragon and I sat down and talked about random stuff just to relax. Then Eragon suddenly shouted 'wolf' and I changed instantly. He gave me an impressed look.
I brushed against his leg and said in his mind, "See you tomorrow."
"Yeah yeah, have a nice sleep Luna"
When I got to my bed, I was too lazy to change back so I curled up on the duvet and fell asleep immediately.
The next morning I was still a wolf and I was woken by someone that was knocking on my door. I gave a short bark to say they could come in and Eragon poked his head around the door.
"Come have breakfast with me." I jumped off the bed and followed him still not bothering to change back.
The breakfast was the best. I had all the meat he offered me raw and cooked.
"I have to spend the morning with my large counsel, so I won't see you but Morena wants to chill and hang out with you"
"I'll spend the morning with her then."
"Once I'm done though do you want to go into the city and look around with me?"
"Yeah, sounds fun" I said in his mind since I couldn't talk.
To someone out side Eragon would have sounded strange talking to him self but only Eragon and I could understand what I was replying.
I smelt someone was coming out of there room. They had a dark shadowy smell, so I assumed it was Septimus.
When they were close to the door I jumped onto a chair and changed back into a human, still in the clothes I had on yesterday for dinner, then whispered with a laugh, "Septimus is getting close to the door and I don't want him to think your crazy by talking to a wolf."
"How very considerate." He laughed,"How do you know he's approaching the door?"
"I smelt him. He smells like shadows"
"Like shadows?"
"Yeah"
As if on cue Septimus knocked on the door and looked in. "My Lord, just so you know we must go in a few minutes."
"Alright. Give me a second." He turned to me and handed me a new dark red dress with the same texture as my green one, silk on the inside and velvet on the outside.
"Thank you" I said and left to get changed.
I found Morena in the library. We talked and when we couldn't talk anymore, we read books, just enjoying the other being there but not having to socialise.
I had lunch with Morena and when Eragon got back he took me into the city just like he said.
When we got back, we did some more shielding practice then ate dinner. This one had a much better conversation than the night previous.
Then Eragon and I would go into the library, have a drink and I would change into an animal he selected. This night it was a mouse.
I followed this same pattern throughout the week. Every night I slept like a wolf because I felt safer and more comfortable like that.
I would then wake up and the cycle would repeat its self. On the fourth morning, Morena dared me to put on my wedding dress and show her how bad it was. She cried with laughter and said I looked like and angry marshmallow.
Her comment made me laugh so much my sides hurt.
