This book is going to contain advice on how to successfully write POC characters without being offensive. Each chapter will be written by a Wattpad author of colour writing about their respective race.
Yes, but only to prove that you have some writing experience and can give credible advice. You don't have to be super popular, you just need to have at least one story published. The story does not have to be finished.
Yes, this I won't budge on. You can't give advice or slam stereotypes if they don't affect you. You know your own race best, and although you may have the best interests at heart, you may end up offending people while writing about how not to offend people. Please keep in mind that this only applies to entries for this book. For your own stories you are definitely free to write beyond your own race, in fact you are encouraged. Saying otherwise would contradict the purpose of this movement.
You can email it to me at Please keep the file type as either a straight text email, Word document, or Google Drive document, and please no PMs, as they tend to lose their layout when I copy/paste them.
Yes! Each person gives different advice and all of it helps, so there will be multiple chapters on the same races.
Because this is a book providing writing advice, it will be a little stricter in regards to the English. I'm not looking for an essay, but please use correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence case, so that readers may better understand.
Entries must include the following:
- Your username
- What you want the chapter title to be
Content wise, there is nothing that is mandatory, so long as you give sufficient advice. Again, it doesn't have to be an essay, but please don't just tell people to be diverse.

Any advice! You can mention certain stereotypes or mistakes that you've seen in books that are not true and need to be fixed, then write about how to fix them and what IS true about the race. You can write about certain ethnic practices that you'd like to see mentioned or portrayed better in books. You can write about food, clothing, family life, names, pretty much anything under sun! Think of it this way: if you're an author trying to write about a character of an unfamiliar race, what questions would you have? What would you want to know?

8 279Defy the Heavens?
Hey there, Dear comrades, I am just a common guy from a common background. How should I say this.. I died on earth, old age of an old illness. something that could have been prevented. How did I reincarnate? No idea. For almost ten years, I assumed I was just like any other kid. Maybe blessed by the heavens but I was a commoner all the same. However, stuff happens and here I am trying to meek out an existences for myself. You know how it is. Killing enemies with epic sword skills, purifying the souls of barbarians with fire, walking in mid air like I am superman. Haha, just being a typical american in not so typical fantasy world. What's the worse that can happen, right? What's so hard about defying the heavens? Didn't we used to defy our stomachs by ordering taco bell? Or how about defying our presidents by voting for their rivals next election date? Ha, these are soo much more complicated process than simply killing off the annoying people. Cutting down heavens when they stand in our way, and enjoying life to the fullest? I mean, this is the american dream!
8 141Defy the Legends
"The hand of Fate works in ways inconceivable to those uneducated in her divine method. No trial reaches an end until she sings of it's conclusion... and she's very shy." ~??? Defy The Legends follows a group of forgotten heroes dubbed the "Defiant," each of nine being the reincarnations of legendary warriors embodying the virtues of humanity, who defended the world of Takera from the denizens of the Void thousands of years past. Through cryptic and oftentimes dire means, each coming of these heroes are slowly but surely drawn to each other by an age-old bond, bringing them together when the world is on the brink of annihilation: this cataclysm known as the Great Schism. However, they now remain scattered throughout the world, following a horrific event that ultimately left all but one with a curse to nullify their bond, ensuring that they'd never reunite to prevent the Schism's next arrival. One of those possibly stricken with this curse is named Kyoya Miskrit, the miscreant unknowingly pursuing a path with no way back -- and with a new threat arising from deep within the Demons' Void, he's forced to trust someone believing themselves to be a long-lost ally and assist them in gathering the Defiant once again, in hopes of silencing the whispers of darkness that have begun creeping back from the depths... ...Only this time, for good. _________________________________________________________________________ ***As of Feb. 1st, 2021, the version of this fiction found on Wattpadd is officially synced with the version showcased here.
