I quickly got out of bed and looked at Carter's crib. He wasn't there. I looked around the room and quietly called his name. I heard the door open and my head shot up.
"Marlee, you alright?" Mom asks walking over to me.
"Where is Carter?" I ask turning around to see her face.
"He is in the kitchen eating." Mom says standing up and helping me up.
"Oh." I giggle at myself. "Sorry."
"Its fine, darling." Mom says kissing my forehead.
I walk out into the kitchen and grab a pancake. I start eating when the doorbell rings.
"Mom, the door bell is ringing." I said as I take a bite of my pancake.
"Gee, thanks Mar." Mom says and drys her hand with a towel and walks over to the door to answer it.
"Hello, and who may you be?" Mom says as she answers the door. I try to look to see who she is talking to but I can't see the door.
"I'm Marlee's birth parent." I walk over to the door and see a woman with long brown hair and blue eyes.
"W-what?" Mom asks stuttering. I look confused at the woman.
"Is this her? Oh look how precious." The woman asks pinching my cheeks. I grab her hand and rip it off my face.
"How does this girl have the dignity to walk to my house and open my door saying she is my birth parent and then she touches me. Excuse Me, but I believe you were the one that left me and I thought this woman died?!" I think to myself.
"I thought you died." Mom says to the woman.
"Oh no, her father just hurt me badly." She says sadly. I look disgusted at the woman.

"Dad!" I call and my father comes into the room holding Carter.
"Yes dar-who are you?" He asks the woman.
"I'm Marlee's real mother." She said holding her hand out for my dad to shake it. And that got me. The way she said real parent.
"Werent you the one that left?" I asked with my hands on my hips.
"I-i tries to make sure they wouldn't take You. But they did." The woman said grabbing my arm. I ripped it away and glared at her.
"Leave." I said plainly, with no emotion. She looked upset but I didn't care.
"W-what?" She asked stuttering.
"Get away from me and my REAL family." I yelled and slammed the door in her face. I ran to my room ignoring my parents calling my name. I sat on my bed and just thought.
This woman can never take me from my real parents, if she did I would go to the police. This is not okay. How do you come to someone's house and say "I'm your real mom, live with me woopdie do!" I hate her more than the sassy chicks at my school and I hate them with a loving passion.
I finally calm down and just cry. What if she does take me? Can she even do that? I thought as I cried my self into a slumber.

Re: (Union//Incarnation)
Two years ago, a meteor fell and decimated the southeastern lands of Gaia, turning them into wastelands constantly shrouded in white fog. None of those who saw the blazing calamity with their own eyes lived to tell the tale, and those who attempted to venture in never came back. Since then, towers, caverns, and ruins have appeared and disappeared without a pattern. Those who were brave enough to venture in were rewarded with a partner capable of defying the natural laws as humanity knows it. People started to call them ‘Incarnation’, and before long, more and more Incarnation were gathered and sold as commodity, especially after a billionaire has sponsored a fighting tournament offering cash prizes to those possessing the strongest Incarnation, spurring the greedy and desperate to hunt for the fabled creatures at the cost of their lives. Claire Saphira wanted none of that. She simply wished for a life where she could live without worry of her own survival. As she ran from the debt collectors for the umpteenth time, she was swallowed by an errant tower, where she saw a frail, pale-skinned girl with ashen hair hung by chains. It was a chance, a chance to participate in the tournament and live without worrying about survival. Yet, something nagged in the back of her mind. Why did she look so familiar? Planned release schedule: One chapter every day for Mon-Fri, and a break on Sat-Sun. The release will slow down at some point, but most likely won't go under 3 chapters a week.
