《Lean On Me • {Jared Padalecki}》07. LISTEN TO ME

Willow knocked on Jared's door later that night, not even able to take a deep breath to steady herself before he swung the door open to let her in.
She looked him over and let out a soft whistle at his new-looking jeans and forest green t-shirt that hugged his body in a way that made her heart race. He smiled at her, taking in her jeans and hoodie, pausing on the hoodie.
"Is that mine?" he asked, and she glanced down at the too-big soft gray hoodie that she'd absolutely stolen out of his trailer on set.
"Yep," she told him casually, walking past him and plopping down on the couch.
"I think... I think I like you in my hoodies," he told her, smiling as he sat beside her.
"Yeah, well, that's good because you don't have a choice. Having a girl around in any capacity means having her steal your much-better boy clothes," she told him, and he laughed.
She leaned towards him, placing her head on his shoulder. He put his head on top of hers and she sighed deeply, wondering how the hell he made her feel more comfortable and at home than anyone else ever had. No matter the situation, if Jared was there, she knew she could make it through it. She didn't even really know what it was about him; he was just... so calming for her.
"Are you hungry?" he asked her, and she shrugged.
"Yeah, but let's just sit here for a while," she replied, and she felt him nod.
"Okay," he whispered, adjusting so that he was more sunken into the couch. Adjusting with him, she picked up his arm and placed it around herself, cuddling into his side. He laughed quietly, holding her tightly.

"I'm so glad I met you," she whispered, the words tumbling out of her mouth before she could stop them.
"I'm glad I met you too. You're my best friend, Wills," he responded immediately, and Willow's heart felt like it might burst out of her chest.
"You're my best friend, too," she told him, tilting her head so that she could look up at him. He looked back at her, his eyes sparkling and filled with just a twinge of some emotion that Willow couldn't quite pinpoint.
Before she even realized what she was doing, she was craning her neck upwards until their faces were inches apart. She stared into his eyes and he stared back, smiling at her.
"Am I doing this?" she whispered and he choked out a laugh.
"I don't know. Are you?" he asked her, and she closed her eyes, thinking.
Finally, she nodded just slightly and then their lips were pressed together, kissing each other in a way that Willow wasn't sure she'd ever been kissed. His arms snaked around her and pulled her up until she was all the way in his lap and her hands knotted into his hair as she held him, kissing from his lips, along his jaw, down his neck, and then back up. He gasped lightly as she sucked on the tender skin of his neck and she smiled into his throat, mesmerized by the deep sounds that were escaping him.
A moment later, her phone rang from the coffee table in front of them and she glanced up for just a moment to see that it was her brother's cast mate and best friend, Dom Sherwood.
"Jared, I... he never calls me. I've gotta see what's going on," she breathed, and Jared nodded, letting her go just enough so that she could reach for the phone and answer it.

"Dom?" Willow said his name into the phone, still breathless in her position in Jared's lap.
"Wills?" Dom questioned, his voice sounding ragged. Immediately, Willow pulled herself out of Jared's grasp and stood, pacing across the room.
"What's wrong, Dominic?" she asked him, the suspense of his pause killing her.
"It's Jackson... he had an accident, Willow."
"What kind of accident?"
"He was doing a stunt on set and he fell and broke a few bones and hit his head pretty hard."
"Where is he? Are you with him?"
"Yeah. We're at the hospital downtown. Can you come?"
"Of course. I'll be there in ten minutes," she told him, hanging up quickly and turning back to Jared.
"I have to go," she told him, pulling her jacket back on and grabbing her handbag and car keys off the coffee table. She started toward the door, tears flowing freely from her eyes. In a second, Jared was stepping in front of her, blocking her way to the door.
"Willow, what happened?" he asked, concern thick in his tone.
"My brother is in the hospital. I have to... I have to go," she told him, and he nodded.
"Okay. Let me drive you. You're in no state to drive," he told her, and she knew he was right. Her eyes were so blurry with tears that she could barely see across his apartment. She nodded and he left for just a moment, telling her he was going to shut the stove off.
"C'mon, babe. I've got you," he said quietly, taking her hand firmly and reaching across to support her with his other arm. He led her out of the building and into his car quickly, taking off toward the hospital right away.
"I'm... J... I..." she gasped the few words out as they went and he could immediately tell she was having what seemed to be a panic attack. He glanced over at her in the passenger seat to see her huddled up into a ball. He offered her his hand and she squeezed it tightly, holding it up against her lips. He could feel her quick breaths on his skin and glanced at her again.
"Listen to me, Willow, okay? I'm here and everything is going to be okay, alright? Jackson is going to be just fine. You need to breathe for me though, okay? I just need you to breathe and remember that I'm here and I love you so much and I'm going to keep you safe no matter what, okay? You're going to be okay, sweet Raven," he soothed, doing his best to keep his voice slow and calm.
She continued to squeeze his hand and he felt her breaths slow as he continued to speak to her. He took a deep breath, the thumb of the hand she was holding tracing wide circles on the back of her hand.
They pulled into the hospital parking lot a few minutes later and she continued to grip his hand firmly as they made their way inside.

As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Nestled deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, something is emerging. Kept in absolute secrecy, it seeps into a fading town, quietly shared from person to person. For Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate, this discovery could mean an escape from his empty existence. To Rachel DuValle, perpetually underestimated and dismissed by the world, magic represents a chance to become something much greater than herself. In the face of an unsuspecting world, their decisions shape the growth of a budding society discovering untold power. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. Want this story in smaller bites? Click here! The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. Each chapter is pretty long (average ~8000 words), so find somewhere comfy to read. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion. Yuusha Isekai! Youjo Suki!
When Elijah, thirty year old civil servant, open lolicon, and anime otaku finds himself in a new world rather than snuggled up to his Flan-chan Dakimakura, whatever will he do? Will his genre savvy and surprisingly unspectacular cheat be able to save the kingdom, and its cute (if dumb) juvenile princess? Or will he go down in a blaze of foolish glory like the ikemen before him?>> This novel is now dead. It will no longer receive updates. [This is a crazy parody novel, by the way. The goal is a good isekai harem story minus the beta JP MC, but adding unique girls that outgrow their stereotypes, whilst making fun of the genre and popular anime and game culture at large.]

Bloodshed
Every ship has its secrets. The Bloodshed was no different. As its name suggests, this ship had seen its fair share of bloodshed. Originally, the ship was christened The Star of Orion. Over time with all the battles it endured, it quickly became known as Blood of Orion. Eventually, that morphed into the name we know today. The Star of Orion was built as a trade ship but when she was captured by pirates, she was modified and outfitted with anywhere between 15 and 30 guns. She was captained by one of the most fearsome pirates to roam the northeastern coast of North America and the southern coast of Africa, Anwen Wolfe. Anwen was known as the Wolf of the Atlantic. She captured The Star of Orion on its way to London. Little is known about what happened in their final days on the high seas, until now.

The Forager from Another World and his Online Shop
Granted a second chance at living by the gods, a man's soul was transferred to another world. With a skill of foraging and an online shop, will he be able to survive along inside the death forest? Will he succumb to the same fate of his previous life? Or will he be the catalyst to modernize the new world? Read and find out! This is a slice-of-life type of "isekai". A bit of fighting here and there but the premise of the novel is to not focus on getting overpowered. This is something I decided to write to relax rather than having some crazy plot about revenge, demon king, or other crazy stuff. Come join me in my journey of relaxation~ I'm a newbie writer so I apologize for any mistakes down the line. Do point it out in the comment section!

Killstealer
Unfinished - Apologies to anyone who was reading but I have no current intentions to revisit this story Alex was stuck in a rut: He was nearing thirty, and his career seemed to be going no-where; He used to have plenty of friends at university, but had gradually lost touch with them. He had recently started using a dating site, but truthfully he never quite got over his ex. It could be worse; he didn't spend his nights wallowing in self pity. However, he had a sinking feeling that his life was going no-where fast. When Alex decided to take up an old hobby all he really was looking for was something fun to do on friday nights. Thrust into another world by a mad mage Alex must adapt quickly to survive. Unfortunately, Alex showed up late to game night and ends up stuck with a pretty mediocre character in this game like reality. Alex must learn to survive in this new world; just because it all seems like a giant game doesn't make death any less terrifying. This will be my first attempt at writing litrpg. I wanted to set myself the challenge of writing every week and I think knowing people might be reading it will motivate me. I've always worked much better with external deadlines. FAQ Why should I read this LitRPG? I am writing because I enjoy it and you should read it if you enjoy it. If I had to make an elevator pitch I would start off by saying my MC is a rogue type character, which seems a relatively uncommon character at least based on what I have read. I also strive to make the supporting cast three dimensional characters, and not just caricatures. Finally, I can't forget that this is a LitRPG so I have tried to make a RPG system with depth, and one that makes sense. How often will you release chapters? At least once a week is my goal. I am a nurse with a baby at home, so between my hospital and my baby I won't have time for more unless something dramatically changes. Will there be romance? I won't rule it out as I try to let my characters write their own stories. However, there will NEVER be a harem, it just isn't something I am interested in. Gore, Profanity, and Traumatising Content? I don't intend to have any of these present at obscene levels, but my tolerance might be different to yours. The tags are mostly there to cover me.
