"Eleven. Stop this right now!" I yelled with everything I had in me. She dropped the shards of glass and turned to face me.
"Mike lies!" She whisper yelled, I could see her eyes watering. Max told me Eleven had come from the lab, so clearly she wasn't taught about these kind of things.
"I don't care if he lies. You don't hurt people."
"Yes. Mike deserves."
She began to lift the shards of glass once again, they were hurdling towards Mike.
Everything went in slow motion. I could see the pieces heading for his face. I couldn't think of what to do. So I jumped infront of him. Pain shot through my body. I could feel pricks everywhere. I fell to the floor.
"Y/n!" Mike cried. I felt him pick up my bleeding body and run out of the house.
"Please speak to me!" He wailed. I couldn't. My eyes began to flutter and I felt myself falling unconscious.
"Get out of my head." I mumbled. I then realised the continuous beeping was the heart monitor in my hospital room. I opened my eyes and saw Mike sat infront of my bed.
"Y/n! Your awake!" He screamed and gave me a hug.
Ouch. I don't remember feeling hurt when Mike gave me a hug. I don't remember feeling hurt when anyone gave me a hug.
"What happened?" I asked, my memory distant.
"It's all my fault.. Eleven was about to throw glass at me but you stepped in. This should of been me..."
"No.." I remember now. "If it would of hit you it would of gone to your face, look I'm fine."
Mike brushed his fingertip across my cheek and a drop of blood fell onto it.

"Sorry."
"Don't be sorry. Do you want me to call the doctor and tell them your awake?"
I took in my surroundings. Max was asleep on a hospital chair and through the tainted glass I could see my Aunt pacing in the waiting room. I looked out of a slit in the curtains. It was dark. I'd been here all day.
"Y/n?" Mike repeated and I snapped out of it.
"Hm?"
"Should I get the doctors?"
I shook my head.
"No. I don't want some strangers all around me. I want to be with you."
He gripped my hand.
"I'll stay here no matter what. I promise. But I need to make sure your ok."
With that he left the room, already breaking his promise. I wanted to call out for him, but I was too drained.
Max awoke just as he left and rushed over to me.
"Oh my god your awake! I knew you liked Mike but I didn't think you were this crazy for him!"
"I couldn't let him get hurt. I don't want anyone to get hurt."
The doctors arrived with Mike and did some check ups. I was left with lots of cuts and bruises. Obviously because of El being a secret, we made up the lie that I fell down the basement stairs and landed on lots of cups and plates that Mrs Wheeler had put out to sell : just a horrible coincidence.
It's been tough in the hospital, but they say I can leave today. I walk out with a backpack, hand in hand with Mike.
"Wanna come round to mine?" Mike asked eagerly.
I shook my head abruptly. I can already remember the whole scenario taking place in his kitchen, it makes me feel dizzy.

"I understand."
"You can come round to my house?" I offered.
Mike came to my house and we hung out for a while in my room. He was laying out all the cards I received from Will, Dustin, Lucas and even our head teacher.
"Everyone missed you at school." Mike ranted. "Nothing really happened.. but it's the snowball tomorrow."
Suddenly I remember what happened with Will. I shot up from my bed and opened the card from Will.
Dear y/n,
I'm so sorry about what happened. I wish I was there to prevent it. I could've saved you. I should've saved you. I miss you loads at school and I understand the whole snowball situation. I think we are better off as friends. I'll visit you asap although the doctors told me I can't see you yet, only family and those involved in the incident.

I suddenly began to smile.
"What are you doing?" Mike asked.
"I just remembered about Will and how he kind of walked in on us.... But he's fine with it now and he said I can go to the snowball with you!"
"Wait.. I need to do this properly."
Mike sat me down on the bed and cleared his throat before asking in a gentleman tone,
"Y/n y/l/n, will you go to the snowball with me?"
