I tried to prevent myself from turning a bright tomato for the rest of the lesson. Every now and then he'd lift his hand from my knee because he had to write something or move his paper slightly which gave me time to breathe. For some reason I tensed up around him which I've never felt for anybody before.

The lesson ends and Mike waits for me to pack my things. I swing my backpack onto my back and we walk together for a while.

"So." Mike mutters.

"So."

"Did you wanna hang out tonight with the party at my place?" He rushes.

"Sure. As long as you aren't doing nerdy chess or some shit."

"Chess?? Pfft who do you think we are? Dungeons and Dragons is way cooler than chess."

"Hah! Dungeons and Dragons ooo sounds pretty epic!" I tease receiving an eye roll.

"Let's go."

We meet the group outside the bicycle racks. I hop on my board whilst the others their bikes.

"So y/n I'm just going to Mike's place for a while I'll see you later." Max smiles.

Before I could say anything Mike butts in.

"Actually y/n is coming too."

"Wow Wheeler you convinced y/n to hang out with us."

"Shut up Max I'm not some snobby popular kid."

"What are you doing?" Dustin blatantly asks as I'm skating off.

"Skating?"

"You won't be as fast as us on our bikes."

I watch as Max hops onto Lucas' bike and wraps her arms around him tightly.

"OOOO!" I tease.

"Shut up trashmouth." She muffles resting her head into Lucas' back.

"So do you want a ride?" Mike asks.

"Okay sure." I hop on and awkwardly place my hands onto his shoulders. I try to keep them there but the ride gets bumpy so I slide them down onto his back like Max had done. I feel him tense up and turn red. I chuckle.

"OOOO!" Max imitates me from earlier.

We arrive at the Wheeler's and scuttle down into the basement.

"Cool place." I admire the open plan room with a couch and many other games and shit I didn't even recognise. The Wheelers were pretty rich. Richer than me and Max.

"Take a seat." Mike gestures to the couch and I fling down. Everyone begins to do their own thing. Max and Lucas aren't anywhere to be seen. Dustin, Lucas and Will are flipping through some comics and Mike is fiddling with his Walkman. I slide open my backpack and get out one of my magazines. I flick to a photo of Ralph Macchio from Karate Kid. Max loves the dude. He's pretty cute not gonna lie. As I'm looking at the page, Mike comes and sits next to me. His eyes widen when they reach the magazine.

"Who's that?" He asks.

"Ralph? Ralph Macchio?? Karate Kid?!"

He shakes his head.

"Well we will have to watch it at some point."

"Sure."

I close the magazine and we both sit in an awkward silence for a while.

Then Mike Wheeler pulls the move! He yawns and pulls his arm around me.

"What the hell was that?!" I chuckle.

"I don't know.. Lucas told me to and I thought because he had a girlfriend.."

"Don't ever listen to Lucas again."

"Hey!" Lucas shouts from the other side of the room."

Mike quickly removes his arm.

"Sorry."

"It's cool. Just don't do it like that. Let me show you."

I wrap my arm casually around him and pull him closer. He tenses up once again.

"Oh and also Mike. Relax a bit."

He nods and I can tell he's trying his best.

Before anything else could happen, Max and Lucas fall out of the closet giggling, both bright red. I jump up.

"Ewwwww!" I yell pointing at them. They had clearly been making out.

"What?!" Max replies.

"What if we play truth or dare!" Dustin suggests.

Everyone nods and gathers round in a circle on the carpet.

"Hmm Mike truth or dare." Will asks.

"Truth."

"Who's your crush.? Or who are you most attracted to in the circle?"

I immediately feel my heart pounding for some strange reason.

"Nice one Will but no way am I answering that!"

"Well you forfit to a dare. Your dare is to kiss someone in the circle."

"Will!" Mike pretends to act mad. "Fine I'll do the truth... uhm. Uh....." he stutters for a while before finishing.. "y/n." As quick as possible.
