As the car comes to a halt in front of a square-shaped building with a metallic exterior and mirrored windows, the tires screech.

Jen whistles beside me, "Phew, this is a different kind of building."

"I know," I nod, my gaze fixed on the modern beauty in front of me.

"Come on, you two," Mave says from the front seat as she gets out.

I snap out of my reverie and exit the car as well.

A young petite woman wearing glasses and a black knee-length dress stood outside the building with a notepad in her hands. She appeared to be in her early thirties.

"Hello, my name is Greta and I am the General Manager of Henderson Inc. It's a pleasure to meet you." As we approached her, she said with a smile.

"My name is Maver, and you are stunning." Mave smirked and kissed the back of her hand.

"I am married and have two children; are you sure you want to be a father?" she rolled her eyes. I couldn't help but laugh when she asked that with a straight face.

"I already love her," Jen muttered beside me, reflecting my thoughts. Greta smiled and turned to face us, while Mave's smirk remained unaffected.

"I'm not sure about the father thing, but I enjoy the process of being a father," he winked.

Greta chuckled as she rolled her eyes.

"I assume he's the department head of accounting?" she asked Jen and me.

I gave a nod.

"It appears that someone did their homework well," Mave observed.

"Let's get out of here before my husband comes out and murders you." Greta grumbled and walked away.

"Follow me," she instructed everyone.

Greta led the way inside, and we all followed her. The interior was white-themed. Behind the desk, written in gold cursive was Henderson Inc.

It was designed in a contemporary style, similar to our New York branch. However, I realised the Texas building was more intricate.

Their conference hall, unlike ours, was on the second floor, so we had to climb the stairs.

Jen fanned herself beside me, saying, "I really need to join the gym."

"Ditto," I muttered as I entered the room.

When I walked into the conference hall, I was greeted by a large room filled with throngs of people sitting in each of the chairs. There was a large stage and a projector on the wall that displayed "Welcome to Henderson Inc."

To my relief, the room was air-conditioned.

"What is the purpose of this Seminar?" Jen inquired next to me.

"No idea," I muttered, taking a seat and motioning for her to do the same. I scanned the room, taking in all the new faces, while Jen texted Jace.

When I noticed some people climbing the two stairs, I returned my attention to the stage.

I could see the faces from my high chair row even though I was sitting in the far end back seat. Men in suits and an elderly chubby female with an adorable smile climbed the stage one by one.

Luke's grandmother.

Luke had shown me her picture back when we were dating.

Before I could turn my gaze away, I noticed Luke standing beside her, dressed in a brown suit and tying his tie. I shook my head, remembering how he was always having trouble tying his tie and how he would always rush to me to fix it.

Senior. Mrs. Henderson slapped his hands off his chest and turned to face him with scrunched brows. She muttered something under her breath before tying his tie.

Luke smiled and kissed his grandmother's cheek and stood straight. He stared kept staring at a wall and then his smile faltered. He looked around the conference hall, as if looking for someone. But then shook his head and stopped scanning the crowd. He acted as if he were doing something stupid.

While the grandma turned around and stood straight with scrunched eyebrows, but suddenly a grin broke into her face. She was beaming looking ahead and that's when I noticed someone rushing towards her, a man wearing a blue suit climbed up the two stairs and embraced her in a hug.

She smiled, closing her eyes in content as if she hadn't seen this man in ages.

My heart skipped a beat when he turned around and I saw his side profile. He was adoringly looking down at his grandmother and kissed her on the cheek. She cradled his face in her quivering palms and lowered his face to kiss his brow.

Sebastian.

Something within me stirred, looking at the love he got from his grandma. He was smiling at her and whispered something in her ears that made her smile and slap his chest in laughter.

He stood next to her and gazed at her with adoration. When he looked around at the other people who were standing there, his smile faltered. I had no idea what had happened because his face had suddenly turned grim. With a sad smile covering her face, Grandma squeezed his hands, reassuring him.

Sebastian cast a glance around the conference hall, and as if sensing my gaze on him, his gaze swept the room and landed on mine.

We stared at each other long enough for me to imagine that we were the only ones in the room. Despite the fact that there were several feet between us, I felt we were close enough to touch.

I nodded, acknowledging him, before disappearing into his never-ending ocean.

He returned my gaze for a few seconds before nodding.

"Did you eat anything?" He mouthed and I couldn't help but roll my eyes but nevertheless nodded.

You know what irritates me; he'd start caring about me out of nowhere, only to revert to the emotionless asshole whenever something within warms for him.

I wasn't sure why he was suddenly acknowledging my presence after referring to me as his best friend's little sister, but oh boy, was I complaining?

I noticed Luke smiling and waving at me. I smiled and waved back. From the corner of my eyes, I noticed Sebastian frowning with a tick on his jaws and glancing beside him. His expression returned to emotionless, and he stepped back and walked to speak with the other people on stage.

I couldn't help but notice his attire as he stood there and smiled at something an old man said. The blue suit fit him perfectly, and the black shirt underneath hugged his chest tightly enough to emphasize his abs.

The abs I touched and kissed.

When I look around, I notice that he still has an uncountable amount of female attention he had grasped. He was either used to it or didn't notice it.

I think it's the former.

"Stop looking at them as if you're planning their murder," Jen said quietly.

"I am not," I muttered under my breath, averting my gaze from the ladies who were eyefucking Seb.

"Of course you are. I can practically see the fumes coming out of your ears," she rolled her eyes.

"You're exaggerating," I sighed and lowered my gaze.

"No, I don't think so. You know, you can just tell him if you have feelings for him. It's not that difficult."

"I have no feelings for him," I lied.

Maybe it's because reality can be harsh at times.

"When you gave him that fuck me look, I could feel the sexual tension in the air."

"I didn't give him any fuck me look," I laughed shaking my head.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night," she chimed, "but if you're backing off because you're afraid he won't reciprocate your feelings. You're wrong, honey. I can see his expression when he looks at you. He's done for. I can still see him looking in your direction."

When I raised my head, I saw Seb shaking hands with a stunning woman dressed in a red knee-length silk dress.

"Yeah right," I gritted my teeth and pulled my gaze away from them.

"He's-"

"Would you mind dropping it?" I begged.

Jen came to a halt, gave me a small smile, and squeezed my hands.

"I apologize. I'm going to stop now. But if you need someone to talk to, I'm here, okay? Right beside you. I'll be there for you even if you become the wife of a billionaire or an alcoholic."

I cracked a grin.

"I am so lucky to have you, Jen," I said quietly.

"Babe, it's the exact opposite."

I sighed and rolled my eyes "Yes, undoubtedly. Right"

Mark my sarcasm.

We sat there silently after that. I noticed how the beautiful young lady and Seb were still conversing, and how he smiled at things she said.

They seem perfect for each other.

"Will this ever end?" Out of nowhere, I asked.

"What will "ever end" ?" Jen quoted with confusion.

"This- this heartbreak," I murmured, my gaze fixed on the stunning couple in front of me.

"You will overcome it. As time passes," Jen said, her voice distant. I knew she was thinking about something from her past, so I squeezed her hand.

"You are also free to tell me anything."

"I know," she said, smiling.

"It's only now I realize why I'm so happy. I realize everything happens for a reason. And I don't want to go back in time to relive my past" Looking down, she took a breath.

"You are a strong woman," I told her.

"You are a strong woman" she ecoed my words.

I smiled, bringing her hands to my lips, and kissed them.

The seminar, which was a type of marketing seminar, began after another 20 minutes.

It was hosted by a new company that was advertising their products.

It was tedious as hell, and I yawned at least ten times while Jen snored peacefully beside me.

After the seminar, we were supposed to meet the Greyson's employees, and while everyone was greeting each other I got up from my seat and shook Jen to wake up.

Someone tapped me on the shoulder, when I turned around, my eyes widened;

It was the last person I had ever expected speak with.
