Work is an integral part of most people's lives. Working can be both lucrative and exhausting. Doing well at work can give you an initial sense of confidence and self-esteem, but it can also lead to a lot of stress and anxiety.

Stress is a normal part of life; there is stress which is good because it motivates us to work harder and achieve more. But too much stress is detrimental to our health.

But who would explain this to all the employees of Henderson Inc?

It seemed the place always filled with happiness and joy was a little off today. Everyone was grim and quiet. I knew why. Our old CEO was being promoted to be the president, while his son was going to take over the company being the new CEO.

Everyone was stressed out; it seemed as if the machines were unstoppable, they were roaring with life sinch the morning, it seemed like paperwork increased to another level today.

Jacob was sitting in front of me with his eyes furrowed on a document. It was Monday and nearly lunch break. After our fight, I avoided Sebastian like a plaque not that he didn't as well.

''How do you think we should launch this product?'' He asked looking at me. I knew he already had an idea about this, but he was still asking me; sometimes I feel like I was still in school being was tutored by my teacher.

''I think we should hold an event'' I replied while he tilted his head with confusion and nodded for me to continue,

''An event, where many companies, as well as reporters, would be invited'' I continued, and stared at him.

''It's a great idea but why would the company want to spend on this, when they can just advertise it on the TV or large broadcasting boards?'' He questioned.

He did have a point.

''Well, for starters this product is very different from any other products we are developing, secondly, no one watches TVs nowadays'' He tried to interject but I continued, ''But on their mobile phones obviously they will get the ad'' he nodded.

''And the company doesn't want to spend much'' I muttered to myself forgetting for a second that Jacob was sitting in front of me, while he nodded.

''How about we organize an event in which we welcome our new CEO and launch the product as well, keeping it as a part of the event?'' I asked, and he averted his gaze to the paper, thinking.

After a while, he grinned like a child, making my insides melt.

''That's a great idea, Ms. Brown''' He replied with a smile, ''I am sure the company will be thrilled with your idea and the way all of them are stressed, I am sure, an event is all we needed'' He added with a smile.

''And we get the benefit of expanding our business as well'' I added while he approvingly nodded.

There is nothing more satisfying than being someone's pride. Today, somewhat, it satisfied a little bit of my self-esteem that Jacob finally approved of one of my ideas, without finding any flaws in that.

''You can sort out all of the preparations with Ms. Hales, the manager. She will be in charge of the event, but you will be in charge of the adverts.'' He told me whilst I nodded. It bloated my pride that he believed in me to take care of something, that important but at the same time it scared me to the root.

''Come on'' He stood up, motioning me to stand as well, '' we need to make an announcement'' he continued whilst walking ahead.

The moment we walked into the corridor, we were greeted by the thick smell of stress; everyone was so zoomed in on their computer desks, that none of them noticed Jacob stepped out. Usually, even if they were indulged in their work, they would still raise their heads and greet him, but today that was not the case.

I swear, the new CEO has already started ruining our lives, and he didn't even step into the company.

Jacob relished a long sigh and cleared his throat loudly, but to no avail, none seemed to notice.

''Um, guys'' I called out. Some of them raised their heads from their work whilst some, I feel like they were out of the world if you know what I mean.

''Oh, hey Jacob'' Mark, one of the employees greeted with a smile. Leisurely, everyone stood up and greeted him with smiles plastered on their faces.

''Meeting in the conference Hall in 10, let everyone know'' Jacob nodded towards them and walked off.

''Psst'' someone called beside me, making me turn towards them.

''What?'' I asked Jonas, another employee.

''What is the meeting about?'' He asked, his eyes glinting with curiosity.

''You will know'' I smirked and headed towards the conference hall. It was on the 12th floor for which the elevator was full and chaotic; I, being a person who hated congested places avoided the elevator completely, and rose through the stairs, along with some of my other colleagues. Though I was the clumsiest and the laziest person in the office, it was worth rising up through the stairs other than the elevator.

I panted heavily after reaching the 12th floor.

Yep, I am that fit.

Rolling my eyes, I walked towards the conference hall and was greeted by the raw smell of paint and furnished chairs, indicating that this floor was new. And indeed it was, there was another conference hall on the 1st floor where all the business meetings take place with other companies, but this hall was big, they recently vacated this floor to make a conference hall for only the employees of the office.

Someone lowly hummed a whistle and stood beside me, I looked up and was greeted by none other than the annoying idiot yet my dear friend Maver.

''Hello, my favorite person'' he said, sending me a wolfish grin.

''Hello, Maver'' I muttered and looked ahead.

I was annoyed, I know I was being petty but still, he was my ride on Friday night and yet he woke himself up in a random girl's house. I mean how immature can a person be?

And the fact that I woke up next to that asshole made me angrier.

''I am sorry'' he said softly, making me melt.

No way, I was not falling for his tricks. I am angry at him and should remain angry with him.

'' I know, it was very irresponsible of me to drink and leave with a random girl, but I am sorry A'' He replied, his voice laced with sadness and worry, making me look at him and sigh.

Here goes nothing.

''It's fine, but don't repeat'' I told him softly. He grinned as his eyes shone with happiness and innocence.

''Never'' He replied with a smile.

''Who did you leave with, though?'' He asked with narrowed eyes, his face contorted with questions while his voice sounded accusing.

I gulped, I didn't know what to say. Wait, I know what to say.

I left with my roommate, no better, I might have left with my brother's best friend and spent the night with him on the couch.

Yeah? I think not.

Before I could build up a lie, Jen rushed inside hugging me from behind. I turned around and saw her panting.

''What's happening?'' She squealed breathing heavily.

''Are they finally kicking us out?'' She exclaimed yet her face morphed with horror.

''No Jen'' I giggled while Maver rolled his eyes.

''So?'' She inquired scrunching her eyebrows.

''You will know'' I muttered and at that exact moment, Jacob stood on the small announcement stage.

''Greetings everyone. I hope y'all are doing well.'' He spoke in the mic. Everyone nodded their heads in acknowledgment. The buzzing conference hall was now silent, everyone was intently waiting for what the ex-marketing head had to say.

''As we all know, next week our new CEO would be joining us to work; I know all of you are very stressed about this, but he's a great man, I am sure you guys will like him. He's young and full of talents and I am sure you all will embrace him with much love and respect as you did for all of your seniors. Coming to the point of the new product being launched, I am proud to say that my replacement, the new marketing head-'' He looked at me with a grin, making me turn crimson, Jen threw her hands on my shoulder tugging me beside her with a smile on her face. Maver smirked, knowing how much I hated attention.

''Ms. Brown, she did an amazing job in this project-'' everyone clapped making me red as a tomato.

''And this was also her idea that it would be so much better to welcome our CEO with a grand event and as well as launch our new product that exact day!'' He commenced with an exclamation. Everyone cheered and clapped.

''An event!'' Jen squealed like a baby.

''You sure have brains Brown'' Maver smirked making me roll my eyes.

''Ms. Hales'' Jacob called in the mic, his eyes searching the crowd; Jen's eyes widened.

''Is Ms. Hales with us?'' he asked.

''Yes sir!'' Jen exclaimed.

''Ms. Hales you're in charge of the event, make your own group and decide everything, whilst Ms. Brown would be in charge of the adverts part'' He said and we nodded.

''Any more questions?'' Everyone shook their heads.

''Then that's it then, take care'' He said and walked out of the announcement stage.

''We are having an event!'' Jen happily squealed for the thousandth time.

''We are'' I sighed with a smile.

''You guys continue with your shit, I am heading over Jones'' Maver fake gagged and walked away.

Everyone started going back to work. I and Jen started walking out as well.

''Friday night was cool'' She said out of nowhere.

''Yeah,'' I muttered.

Very cool.

''Did you like Jace?'' She asked with a hopeful look.

''Of course, he's a nice guy Jen'' I replied with a soft smile.

''Yeah, he is'' She dreamily sighed but couldn't but add much to my dismay, ''but he's a very bad boy in bed'' she smirked while I groaned turning crimson all over again.

''don't start'' I whined and she giggled.

''Do you remember anything?'' I quietly asked.

Or, do you remember how exactly I went home with Sebastian?

''No, I just remember the part that Jace joined dacing with me and after that, we fucked in the bathroom sink'' She replied with a smirk making me groan loudly.

''About me?'' I still inquired.

''Nah, just saw you being cozy with some random guy, I don't remember the face but his back was hot, and by the looks of your face, you were a hot mess as well,'' She smirked yet again.

Great I danced with a random guy and was a hot mess with him, what else? Did I ask to suck someone's dick as well?

''Ugh! I am never drinking again'' I muttered groaning while Jen laughed.

''How did you go home though?'' she questioned. The question I wanted to avoid.

''I have no idea'' I muttered the truth, stepping down the stairs while Jen laughed throwing her head back and her shoulders shaking.

I guess it will always be a mystery. But at the same time, some things are better off as being a mystery.
