《Coffeeshop × Malum》IX. Cinnamon Roll

Sipping on Cinnamon Roll flavored drinks, the boys walked to the chairs to sit down close to each other once again, this time side by side.
"So what's your favorite flavor?" Michael asked curiously, enjoying the rich flavor dancing on his tongue.
"I don't have one, isn't that fairly obvious by now?" Calum asked rhetorically, preoccupied with swirling the layers of his drink with the straw.
"Really? C'mon, you've gotta have one. You've tried so many."
"Yeah, but I also like so many."
"Mhm," He said nodding, "Calum. Always being the boy of mystery."
He snorted a bit at that. "What are you talking about? You know more about me than I know about you."
"Not really. I just know that your name is Calum Hood, you like a lot of drinks and you look really good in sweaters."
"I don't even know your last name. I just know your name's Michael and you change your hair color as often as I change my drink order."
This made Michael tug at his locks consciously, he just added an orange color on top of the pink (yes, even though he just complained about everyone sporting orange the other day) and it was almost like a sunset color.
What? It matched his flannels better now.
"It's Clifford."
"That's-"
"I swear to god if you make a joke about me looking like Clifford the Big Red Dog, I will leave right now."
Calum laughed. "I wasn't, but that's actually hilarious and fitting with, you know, the hair-"
"I hate you," Michael said before going to stand up.
Calum was quick to stop him though by placing a hand on his thigh, saying, "Wait. Don't leave."
Michael huffed, acting like he actually intended to leave beyond so for a joke.

"You don't hate me, you like me. And we both know it."
"Who says?" Michael asked, before crossing his arms, with his drink still in hand.
He laughed again. "Definitely not you, with, I don't know, every single time you've flirted with me."
Michael was about to argue when he relaxed his arms again and looked down to avoid eye contact with the accusing coffee-colored orbs. He laughed a bit, before just smiling up, "Okay, I can't even lie about that... But you can't say you hate me either. You've just let me do it every time."
"I never said I did."
"Okay, but you've definitely been annoyed with me before."
"Hatred and annoyance are two different things. I can be annoyed by you every day but still like you back."
"Are you saying you like me back?" Michael asked, hopeful.
"No, I just said hypothetically I could be annoyed and still like you."
"But this is about you getting annoyed with me, so then you're saying-" Before Michael could process the logic of what he was saying, Calum ended up laughing for a third time at him today.
"You feeling about as confused as me when you tell me I read your mind?"
"Shut up," Michael replied, realizing what he was doing, before shoving him on the shoulder lightly.
They spent the next hour they had before classes continually joking and actually getting to know each other. Michael learned that day that just how Calum liked many flavors, he also had many interests in life. Even though he didn't think he could like the boy more, he did after discovering how much they actually had in common. Not only did he have a good taste in drinks, but he also had a good taste in hobbies, music, and shows especially.

"Okay, but do you think they're even going to get together by the end of the show? You think it would have happened by now, it's season 15 for crying out loud." Michael exclaimed, discussing Calum and his mutually favorite show, where two characters have been hinted at being a thing, but it's not yet confirmed.
"I don't know if they actually will canonically, but even if they don't, you just know they're a thing. Even if he doesn't say anything, you know he has feelings for him too."
'Kinda like you' Michael mumbled under his breath.
"What?"
"Wanna make out?"

The Gatekeeper
Quick Synopsis:This is the story of Reylor, a god-like existence who lost a great portion of his strength when accidentally sent from his “home” to another world. Making friends and learning to harness to power of magic, he maintains his commitment to his prior duty and proceeds to fight against corruption, both on a political front and against what is known as the shade.(Note, this story focuses on action and adventure, so politics are not in depth) This has been my first novel, which was primarilly inteded as a learning experience, and so it may be a bit rough in regards, but it should definitely be readable and it is a full story. I may make some adjustments to it later on, but there's no guarantee... anyhow, it's free to read, so give it a go! Also, feel free to check out my new website: aretornovels.wordpress.com
