《Daybreak ⚣ 「k.th + p.jm」》Twenty-Three

Today is the day where we get Jungkook. Today is the day I have to face my father after many years of being apart. After many years of being afraid.
I look outside the car window, we're getting closer to a woodland area, meaning we're close to the meeting spot. I feel my heart race, I haven't seen my father since I was young, I don't know what he's capable of doing now.
I have to be careful. I know that he wants to kill me.
Jimin gives my hand a squeeze and I look at him, it calms me down. He could probably tell that I was worrying. I look back out the window.
The car stops and Jin looks back at me from his position in the driver's seat. I nod and unbuckle, getting out of the car.
I put my hands in my pocket and start walking down the path. They parked a little ways away from the place he told me to meet him at so he wouldn't see them. I replay the plan in my head.
I come up to a small building and take a deep breath before pushing the door open. The room is dark, only being lit my a single lightbulb in the middle of the room. I scan the area and see a body in the corner. I walk towards it.
I can see Jungkook opening his eyes from where I stand. His eyes are squinting at the new light from the door, he's probably been here in the dark the whole time. I try not to cry as I walk closer to my friend.
"H-hyung" Jungkook says with a raspy voice, sounding like he's in pain. A tear slips down my cheek.
"I'll get you out of here" I promise him.

The sound of a door opening comes from the side of the room. I turn my head and see my father walking out from a door I didn't see when I first came in.
"You came," He says, stopping a few feet in front of me. He smirks. I stay silent. "So, we made a deal. Are you sure you still want to keep it?"
I look at Jungkook, taking in his bad appearance. Cuts, bruises, and blood litter his body. I face my father again.
"Yes," He laughs.
"Trading yourself to set him free, you must really care about him huh?" He walks closer to Jungkook. "Why do you care so much?" He kicks Jungkooks leg and Jungkook winces in pain. "He's pathetic, look at him. Why do you care for such pathetic humans?"
"Why don't you just let him go like you said you would," I say, ignoring his question. "I came and held up my end of the deal,"
"Fine," He rolls his eyes and a guy from the door he came in from comes out and unlocks Jungkook from the chains. He turns to the guy who is now carrying Jungkook. "Go dump him outside," The guy nods and they leave. He turns to me again.
"Now the fun can start," He backs me up against the wall, my back touching the cold surface.
He puts the chains around my wrists and locks them, a little too tight. He does the same to my legs and then stands back to look at me fully. He smirks evilly.
"Time to do what I should've done years ago"
He steps closer to me again and bends don slightly to look me in the eyes. Then he steps back and slaps me, the side of my face stings and tears brim my eyes. I look back at him.

"You're worthless," He says, kicking me in the shin, causing me to fall down.
"Pathetic," A punch to the face.
"Disgusting," A kick to the shoulder.
"Weak," A kick to the stomach, causing me to cough up blood.
"You should have never been born," Another kick. "I've already got your mother out of the way, now all I have to do is kill you,"
He pulls a knife out from his back pocket and drags it across the skin of my throat, pushing in slightly.
"Any last words?"

Alive?
In the ruins of a once glorious city, a mage awakens. As the sole survivor(?) of the cataclysm that destroyed his entire species, he’s forced to adapt. While learning the intricacies of his new body, he must first carve out a place for himself in a familiar yet foreign world before he can set out to reclaim his heritage. I cannot stress this enough: the character is not human, do not expect him to react like one. I know the hand on the cover only has five finger, but I doubt I am going to find a royalty free radiography with two perfectly functional thumbs placed in a sensible way anytime soon. The rewrite is finished. Beta readers are welcomed and I am still wondering whether I should put the sci-fi tag or not.
