(Riley's PoV)
As we finished eating our delicious and wholesome dinner a knock sounded on the door.
"Come in" Xavier said.
"Hello brother"
It was Ezlyn with a warm smile on her face
Xavier immediately paid more attention. I guess she's one of the people he actually loves.
And why wouldn't he? She was so kind and innocent.
"Hi Ez! What's up?" Xavier said with a smile
It was the first time I saw him smile. It was actually quite charming.
"I just wanted to ask Riley if she would like to go shopping with me tomorrow"
"Uhh.." I didn't know if I was allowed to so I looked towards Xavier with pleading eyes.
He looked at me and nodded his head slowly.
"Sure! I'd love to go. I've never really gone shopping before" I said sounding maybe a bit too excited.
"Yaay sounds good. I'll send something for you to wear tomorrow morning. Bye Riley, brother."
"Thank you"
"It's no problem."
I couldn't stop smiling to myself.
"Why are you smiling so wide? It's getting a little creepy." Xavier said with a hint of humour in his tone.
"I have never been treated well by any vampire before. I guess I'm just surprised and amused."
Xavier slowly got up from his desk where he was working and walked to where I was sitting on the couch and sat down next to me.
"You know when I first saw you, I thought you just another week human. But you aren't scared. Why?" Xavier asked looking at me.
I shifted uncomfortably. I have never been this close to a vampire before.
"I just want my freedom. There is no point in being scarred. Vampires will always do what they want. Nothing can stop there temper anyway. There's no point in trying."

Xavier nodded understandingly.
"Do you mind telling me your story? I would like to get to know you"
"Of course master"
"No don't call me that. You can call me Xavier."
Oh wow! That took me by surprise.
"Um ok Xavier. I was very young when vampires captured me. Just about 8 or 9.
I had the most loving family. My father, mother and my brother. He was 14 when I last saw him. We had gone to get groceries. My brother was alone at home. It was the safe part of the country so we thought he would be fine. We were wrong we were so wrong. Our house was destroyed. So was his body. We didn't even get to bury him." I took a deep breath. Unable to hold back the tears that fell out.
I felt a hand on mine. It was Xavier's. His eyes found mine and in an effort to comfort me he squeezed my hand. His hand was cold, yet somehow I relaxed a bit.
I continued "We then we're on the run. We set up a camp deep in the forest where father thought they couldn't find us. Guess what? He was wrong again. They came at night. It was like a shadow and just like that my parents' body was sprawled on the ground in a pool of their own blood. Just when I thought it was finally my turn. I simply heard someone say 'she's too pretty' and there it was two hands grabbed me and shoved me in a box. I was knocked out. Next morning I woke up in the pet shop."
That was it I couldn't hold it in any longer. I started crying violently. I missed them so much. I guess I had just kept these feelings hidden for too long. Pretended to be strong for too long.
I fell hands lift me up and I placed my head on Xavier's chest. I was thankful for his comfort.
I still couldn't understand why be nice to your slave? But at this point I could care less.
He placed me on the soft bed.
"Sleep" He said in a whisper. "I'm right here."

Noli Me Tank in a Mall
Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo are important cultural works that ignited the Philippine Revolution against Spain. They are novels that exposed to the populace the abuses and the injustices of their Spanish colonial rulers, the hypocrisy of their priests, and inherent cruelty of their class structure over the powerless masses. Unfortunately, they rose up in the middle of the Spanish-American War, one which saw Spain lose most of their overseas colonies and decisively end as a World Power. The war ended in the 1898 Treaty of Paris, in which Spain also sold the Philippines to the USA for the sum of twenty million dollars. The revolutionary government was then crushed by the overwhelming military might of the United States and the Philippines turned into a territory. While the Philippines stands as the USA's greatest successes in nation-building, their early occupation left almost one-fifth of the population dead from combat and disease. Jose Rizal was executed by the Spanish long before knowing what might happen to his country. The world presented within The Noli and the El Fili is therefore stuck frozen in time, forever caught in that moment before a Revolution. Now let's see what happens to this nation if we give it the Light Novel treatment and jam the entirety of the Internet into their protagonist's skull and watch him try to fix things with his unfortunate tendency to sound like a supervillain. Updates Mondays and Fridays. Note: The Noli and El Fili have been public domain since 1946. This is completely fair game.
