"Deal." I said squeezing her hand before leading her back to the fire. Everyone seemed to be having a good time still until we reached them and Jake spoke up
Y/n pov:
"Hey so we were just chatting and it turns out that Jarred and Embry need to go to work so Leah and I were going to ride back with them and grab some food and my truck. You guys can stay here and hold down the fort while we're gone." Jake said with a glance at our still clasped hands, I pulled mine away subconsciously and I felt Paul look at me. I barley know this guys and Jake might feel uncomfortable if I start hanging on one of his friends.
"Sure, we can keep the fire lit while you're gone. Right y/n?" He turned to me expectantly as did the rest of the group I felt extremely small under their gaze but nodded in agreement.
"Sounds like a plan!" Jarred said as they grabbed their stuff and headed to the car. Leaving Paul and I alone. Alone at the beach, at night.
Fan-freaking-tastic
I groaned as I plopped down on the blanket left abandoned by Jake and Leah. Paul walked over to the other side of it before sitting down. I tried to busy myself by looking at the fire, the stars, and finally the waves but my mind was reeling with the intimacy that Paul and I just shared. I felt Paul's weight shift for a second and could feel his eyes staring into the side of my head, letting out a small sigh I turned to face the gorgeous man beside me and was met by those mesmerizing brown eyes as they reflected the sparks of the fire and a lopsided grin.

"Hey" he said while looking at me intently.
"Hey" I mocked him giggling to myself.
What a goof, as if we haven't been together all night. Again.
With that thought my face burned at the memory of waking up wrapped in his arms and is sexy morning voice whispering 'Mine' in my ear as he pulled me closer.
"Anyways!" I shouted trying to break my thoughts away before I self destructed. Paul looked at me expectingly but I really had nothing to say, nothing to give him a reason for why I just shouted not subject change because there was no subject to begin with. He was smiling at me again, that same warm smile that was slowly melting my heart.
Fuck, I'm in it bad
"Um so, the stars are pretty!" I squeaked out finally after an awkwardly long time.
The stars are pretty?? Of course they are idiot! Wth was that
"Yeah I'd say they're probably the second most beautiful thing out tonight" Paul said while gazing up at the stars before looking at me from the corner of his eye. Im sure my face was beat red but I said nothing and instead looked down at the fire waiting for an elaboration that never came. What felt like hours passed in silence before I decided to break it
"Where are they? I swear it's been a few minutes at least." I said pulling out my phone to check the time only to see a text saying that Jake and Leah wouldn't be returning since they got called into worn too.
"Never mind, I guess it's just us now." I sighed and laid back on the towel and closed my eyes. I felt Paul shift beside me and could tell he was laying on his side facing me.

"What's wrong?" He asked, I could hear the concern in his voice. Keeping my eyes closed I placed an arm over my face to shield it from view.
"Nothing" I said honestly not knowing what the issue was. I mean other then the fact that this insanely hot guy is laying next to me on the beach in an extremely romantic setting and I was terrified of messing it up, whatever it is.
"Hey, if I'm too close or something just let me know. I'm not trying to smother you I swear." He said as I felt him raising in order to move over. I felt the body heat that was bouncing between us begin to fade away but that's not what I wanted. Opening my eyes I reached out to his retreating hand and grabbed him before he could move. His head snapped to me quick and a look of relief passed through his eyes.
"Sorry, I'm just awkward. Please lay back down? I'd love to talk with you." I said as my fingers wrapped around his hand trying to keep him from leaving.

Sweet Minds
"No one can see it, some can feel it, and only the few can use it. We belong to the few." Marith Merryfield felt anything but merry that morning. She found herself waiting for a delayed train on a deserted platform, in the freezing cold of the Dutch autumn. Just when the strangeness is making her consider turning around and going back home an empty train rolls into the station. For reasons unclear to this day she decides to get onboard. An unlikely, and quite impossible, train accident is about to hurtle her into a world she had always suspected existed. It was a dark and absurd place she had rejected and suppressed when she was young. Now she would need that dormant part of herself to survive. After a brief hospitalization she must choose between two continents and finds herself reluctantly boarding a plane to Oregon to be reunited with her shadows. She returns to the town she grew up in, which is where her father still lives and her childhood memories linger. By the end of the week the mysterious train accident turns out to be the least of her problems. Her life was never supposed to become this serious this fast. Through an improbable and unfortunate series of events she is soon introduced to a motley crew of characters that appear to be carrying the same struggles through life. They possess a familiar sense of inadequacy and insecurity. Marith realizes that for the first time in her life she has found herself a tribe, or, as they prefer to call it, a Chain. She is introduced to a world of Prophets, Runners and Mages led by an Oracle and a Watchmaker. Over the course of several weeks Marith learns that, together with her Chain, she is expected to save this fabric of reality, by fighting a mysterious and immortal creature and his aggressive pet. In order to have a chance at overcoming this force of nature she has to revisit the darkest and most desolate corners of her mind. ***** The total word count of the first 12 chapters amounts to about 85.000 words.
