《Senior Year》Senior Prom/Thomas's Birthday
Advertisement
This really is gonna be the best night of your life. Your mom handed you and Thomas the corsage and the boutonnière.
"Ava made these for us." Thomas said, opening the plastic container.
You both posed for a picture. The corsage looks beautiful on your wrist. The boutonnière completed Thomas's look for prom. Everyone went outside to take more pictures. The finished product looked like the ones you would find on Pinterest.
Thomas offered his arm to you.
"Shall we?" he asked.
"I'd be delighted." you said, sliding your arm through his.
Without either of you knowing, your mom, grandma, and aunt took a picture of you and Thomas from behind, walking up the sidewalk. You were about to get in the driver's seat of your car when Thomas stopped you.
"What do you think you're doing? It's your prom night. You shouldn't be driving." he argued.
"Well, it's your birthday. You shouldn't be driving either." you copied.
"Neither of you are driving because I'm drive you both up to Emily's house, then you all are getting in the limo." your mom said.
With that, you both got into your mom's car and she drove to Emily's house. Kendra, Gwen, and the limousine were already there. Their mouths dropped when they saw Thomas.
"Hey girls. I got a new prom date at the last minute." you said with a smile.
"Well, that's awesome." Emily said.
"Happy birthday!" Kendra and Gwen said simultaneously.
Thomas was blushing by their responses. The moms made everyone got together for more pictures. Then, all five of you got into the limo.
"Feels like the Scorch Trials premiere again, doesn't it?" Thomas asked you.
"Yeah, it does." you said.
Your friends were mainly talking to Thomas. Gwen kind of intimidated him by asking if he was treating you well and said that she'll mentally banish him into the Maze if he wasn't.

The driver drove onto the interstate for a while, then pulled in the parking lot of Texas Roadhouse. A waiter walked all of you to the tables. The girls wouldn't let you or Thomas get in the booth. Gwen pointed to an empty table across from them. It was for two. Dinner was delicious. After paying, you all went out to the parking lot and got back in the limo. The driver then drove you all to prom.
You guys were the first ones there, except for some teacher chaperones. Once enough people arrived, the doors opened and the chaperones collected tickets. Everyone walked through light pink curtains to see the big space decorated like an magical, fantasy land.
Kendra got a table for all of you. Gwen went straight to the snack table, despite that she just ate about an hour ago. You saw cupcakes on the table, so you got up and put two on a small plate. You came back to the table with the sweet treat.
"For your birthday." you said to Thomas.
"Awe, love. You're sweet." he said.
"Probably not as sweet as this cupcake." you said.
Emily took a picture of the two of you. You both grabbed a cupcake and ate it. You got some icing on your finger and put it on his nose.
Soon enough, music started playing and people were on the dance floor. After four songs, you and Thomas went back to the table.
"Hey, love. Where's the restroom?" he asked.
You both got up and showed him where. You waited outside. You were admiring the corsage that Ava made. She did an amazing job.
In the corner of your eye, you saw that someone was coming towards you. You looked up and saw that it was your ex! You felt your blood starting to boil. You looked back down at your wrist.

"What do you want?" you asked, keeping your focus on the corsage.
"You!" he said, then grabs your left wrist.
"What? No! Get off me! THOMAS, HELP!" you cried.
Not a second later, Thomas ran out of the bathroom.
"HEY! Stop! Stop! What's going on here? Love, are you all right?" he said.
You shook your head no.
"Back off, you Brit. You don't really love her. You're just using her for publicity. Now, get out of my way." your ex said.
"I think not, you bastard. For your information, I love y/n with all my heart and you're not gonna tell me otherwise. You obviously didn't listen to my warning that I texted you. You're the reason why you two aren't together anymore and you can't fix it. You don't know what love is. There is no way in hell that she would take you back after what you did to her. While I'm around, you're not gonna come near her or talk to her. You cannot treat a girl like that. And if you do, it's not going to be bloody pretty. You got me?" Thomas interrogated.
Your ex leaned his head over to look at you.
"This isn't over." he said, pointing his finger at you.
"It's been over." you said.
Then, your ex walked away.
Thomas turned around and hugged you. You wrapped your arms around him. Then, your friends came.
"Y/n, what happened?" Emily asked.
"Her ex happened." Thomas answered.
There was nothing that could be done about it.
"Love, come on. It's your senior prom and it's my birthday. Let's have fun tonight." Thomas said, grabbing your hands.
You smiled in response.
As if right on cue, 'Rewrite the Stars' started playing. Your smile grew bigger and you dragged Thomas onto the dance floor.
You both had a blast while dancing to that song. It speaks volumes about your relationship.
After hours of dancing, everyone was getting tired and was starting to leave.
"The limo is here. Are you all ready to go?" Emily asked.
With that, the five of you went outside and got in the limo. You fell asleep on Thomas's shoulder during the ride back.
What a night!

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
