《Cut Deep (Eren x Reader ft. Titan Eren)》~ Chapter 17 ~

I sit down at the breakfast table with my group of friends on this crisp Saturday morning. Tonight is the Scout Ball, and you can tell from the excitement of all the Scouting Legion, the loud noise of their voices that bounces throughout the hall as we try to eat.
Even Corporal Levi hasn't told us off about it yet, he's just walking around with a giddy smile on his face from a whole week of cleaning and decorating the Ball Room.
I sit next to Sasha and uncomfortably Eren on my right, with thanks to everyone's seating arrangement. Conny was supposed to sit next to me, but Sasha stopped him, everyone leaving the spot next to me empty, and then Bertholdt pointed it out to Eren who came late, that there was an open spot next to me.
His scent fills my lungs with calmness, and he sits so close to me I think I'm going to explode.
"So, (Y/N)," Eren turns to face me. I've never been so close to his turquoise eyes. It is killing me. "Who are you going to dance with tonight?" He says, cutting up his food.
"Jean!" Sasha snaps before I can even process what he dared to ask me.
"Jean's dancing with Mikasa, stupid," Reiner points out.
"Mikasa?" Eren looks confused.
"There is going to be more than one dance, I can dance with all three of you," She speaks under her scarf.
"(Y/N)'s going to dance with Mikasa?" Conny says stupidly.
"No, but Armin asked me before Jean and Eren did," She replies.
Well, there you go, Mikasa can get three boys and I can't get one. I'm surprised Corporal Levi hasn't asked her out yet.

"(Y/N)," I hear a voice behind me. I look up to see Levi, smirking with a parcel in his hands. It is wrapped in brown paper and tied with a white ribbon, and from that I know exactly who sent it. It's from my mom.
He hands it to me and I clear the table of my plate and cup which I push towards Reiner who sits in front of me. I take off the card and read it, neat writing that states:
Dear (Y/N),
Thank you kindly for your letter. Your father and I are doing quite fine, and so is the rest of the family.
I hope you take this dress I sewed for you and wear it at your Ball. I made it as soon as I heard and have put a lot of effort into it. You'll look beautiful!
Hopefully by now your sweetheart has asked you out, and if not, he defiantly will on the night! I hope your night is wonderful on Saturday.
Love, Mom xxx
I take the letter and slip it on my lap until Sasha snatches it from my grip.
"Awh, you got a letter from mommy!" She says in a low tone.
"Sasha shut up!" I bark, trying to take the letter from her hands. She passes it over to Conny and they begin to read.
"Your sweetheart? Is that-" I bounce onto Conny and Sasha before he completely spills the word 'Eren' , and then I cause Levi to finally snap.

Edge Cases (Book 1 Complete!)
Rare classes and powerful skills are helpful. Too bad the system doesn't seem built to handle them. What even are all these errors? Our team of outcasts and adventurers will have to rely on their trust - and the bane of all stories, healthy communication - just to survive, let alone understand what the system is doing. Because they're quickly realizing that it's doing something; to people, to monsters, and maybe even to the gods themselves. And their goal isn't just to survive; it's to make things better. It's a good thing they're not doing it alone. --- Edge Cases is an attempt to take the LitRPG genre and the overpowered MCs trope and write a story where numbers aren't everything. Sometimes it takes trust, support, and just a touch of being very, very clever. Expect a mix of action, slice-of-life, friendship, and ominous worldbuilding. Updates M-W-F at 6pm EST. Cover art by Alovck of Artstation, and typesetting by jessessey right here on RoyalRoad.
