《Just Business?》Distance

Mr. Wright and I were in his office kissing. We were arguing about the charity event, and he just lifted me up on his desk and kissed me. I definitely wasn't going to argue. My hands were tangled in his dark, thick hair. He pulled away after a little while. He coughed and regained his composure.

"I'm so sorry. That was uncalled for, and I completely crossed the line. I'm your boss, you're my employee and it won't happen again."

"Yeah totally. Just a mistake. Heat of the moment I guess."

"Yes. I hope this won't discourage you from accompanying me to the gala Saturday night."

"You aren't giving up are you, sir?"

"I didn't become CEO of my own company by 25 by being passive, Olivia."

"Well since you put it that way, I will go with you."

"Great. I'm looking forward to it."

I got my things together, and quickly said goodnight. He smiled and said it back. I couldn't get out of there faster. I just kept thinking about that kiss. Why would he just kiss me like that? I liked it a lot, but he said it was just a mistake. He was right, he's my boss and that would just end badly. I called a cab, and got to my apartment. The first thing I did was call Trinity. It was close to 11, but I knew she'd pick up.

"Liv, what's up?"

"Tri, Mr. Wright kissed me."

"Woah woah what?"

"Yes. We were working, I fixed our little crisis. He has a gala that I set up with a charity. He wanted me to go with him, but I didn't really want to go. He picked me up onto his desk, and kissed me. I kissed him back, and it was great. He pulled away and said that it was a mistake because he's my boss and I work for him. I agreed, but he's so great. He's like so nice, and successful. He's gorgeous too. He has these bright green eyes and nice hair. God I'm in trouble."

"Wow. Okay you can't be all affectionate like that. I understand that has hot as all hell, but no. That's your boss and this is the best job you've ever had. Do you really wanna miss this up over a hot guy?"

"You're right, Tri. I knew you'd have the best advice. Love you."

"Love you too. See you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow."

I had to pull away. This is wrong. She's my assistant, and I'm her boss. There's no way this could end well. Maybe it won't end at all. I really have to stop thinking like that. Life's no fairy tale, so I need to stop thinking that there's an outcome where I could be romantically involved with my assistant and everything end up great. She agreed to go with me, and ran out the door. I probably scared her away, which was the last thing I wanted to do. I went home, and went to bed. I was thinking about how amazing it was that she could fix that crisis, and how amazing that kiss was. I know it was a one time thing, but it was very surprising. The next day, Olivia came into my office at two o'clock and handed me my coffee.

"Olivia, about Saturday night, I'm gonna pick you up at around 8?"

"Sounds good."

"What color is your dress?"

"Why?"

"I have to match. We're going to be taking lots of photos together and we need to look good together."

"Umm I was kind of just gonna pull something out of my closet."

"Okay. I'll wear black then."

"Great. Is that all, sir?"

"Yeah. Thanks again."

"No problem."

She walked out and sat down at her desk. She took a deep breath and all the girls glared at her. I called Bill and had him deal with it. Bill caller each girl into his office one by one to scold them.

All the girls were getting up and going somewhere and I don't exactly know why. I kept working, but I was really curious. The rest of the day was pretty easy. There was no real big issues, and everyone left me alone. I just couldn't stop thinking about last night.

The rest of the week went by pretty quickly. I tried my best to avoid Mr. Wright. Ever since that night, he's just been constantly on my mind. I just think back to that kiss, but Trinity's voice pops into my head and I snap out of it. This is the best job I've ever had. I can't jeopardize it for some man, no matter how good looking he is. Mr. Wright kept trying to talk to me, but I made up some excuse that I was busy with paperwork. Now it's Friday night, and I'm home in bed. The gala is tomorrow and Trinity already went shopping with me for a dress. It's black, long, and has a thigh high slit on the leg. It has thin straps and a sweetheart neckline. I knew this dress was going to be perfect and it would go with whatever Mr. Wright wore. I just need to keep my distance.
