《Ever Since New York》Chapter 30

I woke up in pain.

My stomach was cramping and hurting so much.

Sitting up with a groan, I look down and reach out with my hand, shaking Harry awake.

"Harry! Harry, wake up." I exclaim.

Harry groans and rolls to face me, running his eyes as he looks at me. "What is it?" he asks.

"I'm bleeding."

Harry's eyes snap open and he sits up, pulling the blankets back to reveal the small pool of blood gathered between my legs.

"Shit. Shit shit shit." he says, getting up.

I lean my head back and let out a slight scream as another flash of pain rips through me.

Harry quickly slips on a pair of jeans and his hoodie before picking me up carefully and rushing us downstairs.

"C-Call Louis. Please." I beg as he sets me carefully into the passenger seat of his jeep.

"I will. Just take deep breaths, okay? We're going to the hospital." he tells me.

I nod and close my eyes as Harry gets in the Jeep besides me and speeds to the hospital.

I hear Harry talk to Louis over the phone and can hear Louis's muffled voice.

"She's bleeding! And she's in pain. God, Lou, I can't stand it....yes, we're on our way there. I'll see you in a bit." Harry says, hanging up.

Harry looks over at me, then reaches over and takes my hand in his, squeezing.

"Its gonna be okay." he says, his face blurring as I look up at him.

I try to talk to him but no words come out, only cries and shouts as pain overcomes my body.

Soon after the hangup with Louis, Harry pulls to a stop outside the emergency room.

He gets out and comes to my side, ripping the door open and picking me up.

My hands clutch my stomach and I cry out as he walks us through the doors and into the best empty hall.

"Help! Please! My wife is bleeding, I need some help!" Harry shouts, looking around.

I see a young doctor come out from behind the receptionists desk and come toward us.

"How far along is she?" he demands, grabbing his stethoscope and putting it against my stomach.

"Uh, about 8 months. She woke up in pain and was bleeding." Harry tells him.

The doctor nods, then quickly pulls away, turning towards the nurse sitting behind the besk.

"Paige, book an OR quickly. We need to do an emergency C-section." he says.

My eyes go wide and I shake my head as Harry lays me down on the stretcher the doctor rolls towards us.

"No, no. It's too early. You can't." I panic, my eyes welling up with tears at the thought of my baby being cut away from me.

The doctor shakes his head and he and a few other nurses begin pushing the stretcher towards the OR I suppose.

"No, it's not too early. The baby is going to be fine. But we need to move fast in order to keep both of you alive." he says.

Harry takes my hand in his and we move quickly to the OR where I'm changed into a gown and my hair put into a cap.

Harry is scrubbed clean and put on gloves and cover with a cap as well.

The doctor, whose name I learned to Blane, had an IV inserted into my hand and as I late in the table, my body began to go numb and I watched as an anti-bacterial scrub is rubbed onto my lower stomach

I grip onto Harry's hand and lean my head against his arm as the doctor begins the surgery.

I thought everything was going smoothly until I heard the doctor curse.

"Nurse, I need the clamp and suction." Dr. Blame says.

Harry and I glance at each other before looking at the doctor.

"What's wrong?" I ask worriedly.

"The babies umbilical cord is wrapped around its neck. But don't worry, we're fixing it. Just a few more minutes." he says.

I close my eyes and let out a shaky breath.

Harry leans forward and kisses my forehead softly. "Its gonna be okay..deep breaths, okay?"

I nod and focus on Harry, ignoring the slight discomfort from below until the doctor and nurses move away from me and I look up to see the doctor holding my baby.

"It's a boy." he says before handing him off to the nurse to have him cleaned and cared for.

The room is silent for a couple of minutes until I frown.

"Why isn't he crying? What's happened?" I ask, my voice cracking.

Harry and I watch as the nurse pays on our baby's back for a few minutes and then everyone cheers and smiles as we hear a loud, wailing cry.

I smile and wipe my eyes as the nurse brings my little boy over to me and I open my arms, taking him.

I carefully hold him, cradling his head carefully as Harry leans his head against mine.

"Hey, Ethan.. You scared us back there." I whisper.

Harry smiles and kisses my head softly.

I look down at Ethan and hold my hand up to him.

His small fingers wrap around my pointer and I let out a choked sob as I smile.

"We're gonna be okay, little man. I promise."
