'While I'm far away from you my baby, I know it's hard for you my baby, because it's hard for me my baby'
I leaned against my best friend as we left the gym, my hair was wet and I felt it as the cold air hit us. "Fuck," I mumbled as I pulled my hood up and clung tighter to Josh's arm. "It's freezing."
He laughed as he shrugged me off, "Give over. Come on, Lauren. I was thinking we both go home, get changed and head into town."
Pulling my jacket around me tighter, I shook my head. "You can do whatever you want, I haven't just worked that hard in there to go and into town and get pissed." I playfully shoved him away from me as we walked towards the carpark. "If you do go, don't be sending me stupid snaps all night."
Josh laughed as he jangled his car keys in his right hand, "You love it. Lauren, some creep is hanging about by your car."
My head flew up to look, my eyes widening as I saw a shadow of a man standing by my car door. "What the fuck?" I cursed as I stood closer to Josh. "Be a man, get rid of him!"
My best friend headed away walking ahead towards my car. I walked several steps behind hoping that Josh would get rid of my car stalker. I hung back but was surprised when I heard a laugh come from Josh.
"What the hell..." I mumbled to myself as I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Lauren!" Josh called me making me walk slowly towards him and the mystery man.
As I got closer, my eyes adjusted to the lack of light before I saw it wasn't a stranger by the car. "George!" My lips curled into a smile as I ran at him before throwing my arms around him. "Oh my God, what are you doing here?!"

Josh chuckled, "And you thought it was some creepy murderer."
George pulled away from me with a laugh, "Creepy murderer? Oh, I love you too, Lauren."
I looked at Josh before I looked back at George, "I was thinking more about creepy stalker."
"Nice to see you man," Josh gave George a weird man hug before he looked at me. "I'll see you after Christmas. Make sure you have a good day!"
"You too," I said as I leaned over and gave him a hug before he left us.
Turning my attention to George, I shook my head as I stared up at him. "Wait, so, what are you doing here?" I unlocked my car before chucking my gym bag onto the back seat. I tried to act casual, even though I hadn't seen him in a few months, I just couldn't believe he was here right now.
George took my head, pulling me closer to him, his arms wrapping around me as he grinned at me. His blue eyes shone in the darkness, "It's two days till Christmas. I thought I would come home to you." I'd missed those eyes, those beautiful icey blue eyes that reminded me of the ocean. I couldn't help but feel all gooey inside whenever he spoke, escpially when he used the word 'home', he was coming 'home' to me.
I smiled at him before I wrapped my arms around him. "I've missed you," I told him as I held him tightly. I couldn't believe how long it had been since I last saw him, his work coming first. I never wanted to let him go, everytime he left, it hurt but I knew it was his dream he was following, who was I to stand in the way? "Please tell me you're staying for Christmas."

He kissed me on the forehead as he cupped my face, " Of course I am." His words brought me joy, I could relax knowing I would have him here for Christmas, that we would be together for the occasion. He let me go before he turned to the car parked next to mine and opened the door before he grabbed out a large gift bag. "Here, ."
My hands shook as I took the bag from him. "Thank you," I said to him as I held it and looked up at him. "I haven't got your present here."
"This is just my gift for you, because I've been away for so long." He kissed me on the cheek, "I've already dropped your Christmas presents off at yours." He winked at me as he nodded down towards the bag.
I shivered, "George, I'm freezing. Can we do this when we get back?"
"Just open it!" He encouraged me as he looked at me with begging eyes.
Fumbling, I managed to open the bag before my eyes landed on the logo that George had built for himself being in F1. It was on a William's coat, pulling it from the bag, I looked at it with a wide grin. "Oh my God, you didn't need to do this for me," I told him before I threw my arms around him again. "Thank you," I pressed a quick kiss to his lips before I spoke again, "Thank you so much."
He couldn't help but laugh again as he held me back, "You are perfect. I would do anything for you, Lauren."

—A Celebration of all things chess... Shounen Sports–manga Style. Anasthese is the current reigning World Champion for the Junior Chess Female Division. For years, she's wanted nothing more than to beat the Male Division Champion, Rei. These two are considered prodigies way ahead of their age; none of their peers even come close to holding a candle against them. But be that as it may, Anasthese too, cannot hold a candle to Rei... She's never beaten Rei once he's serious. Anasthese has always considered Rei the best of her generation. It's her lifelong goal to beat and surpass him. That's why, when Rei's cancer had become fatal after their 3rd year running, Anasthese took it hard. Rei will die, with her never having beaten him, not even once. Things take an unexpected turn when Rei reveals that he is far from the "invincible" player Anasthese envisions him to be. Even he has someome he could never beat, not even if his life depended on it... a fellow apprentice who studied with him under GM Amane. A guy so-called "Net". This enrages Anasthese. A person stronger than Rei should not exist. Because if he did, then what has all her efforts for the past years been for? And if this Net "does" exist, why doesn't he challenge Rei for the title? Rei tells her it's not that simple... Net's playstyle is void. It's an enigma. It's chess that should not exist, and should physically not be possible to play. It goes against all logic, and it's power is not something that can be measured in numbers. It's something that would "absolutely not work" in a professional setting. Anasthese attends Rei's funeral as a last rite before setting off for Japan, bound towards the disintegrating Futenma Shintenkan Highschool chessclub, of which there are only two members left: Mukuro and Net. She has to see it with her own eyes, a playstyle that Rei lost to... And as Anasthese stays for the long-term, various misadventures are started at Futenma High, including rebuildung the club, Anasthese's "Royal Guards" (four girls dedicated to serving Anasthese and helping challenge Rei) coming to take her back to America, and unexpected guests gracing the local Sports Meet chess scene. From a guy who can only play well everytime money's involved, to a girl who plays on a weird "Magical Girls vs Orcs" chess set, get introduced to the quirky playstyles that make chess wonderful. (Disclaimer: I am not a chess pro, I'm only 1400. Expect me to have no idea what I'm talking about at certain times...)

A Fate Shaped by Magick
This fiction was (and is) published on fanfiction dot net under the same title; though as I slowly transfer it to here, I am editing and smoothing it. This story takes place in the Elder Scrolls (TES) Universe mostly ending up in Morrowind. This is a slice of life meant to answer the questions of how (in the TES universe) do mages study and learn, and exploring some of the in-game differences between TES 2 and 3. This book has minimal spoilers for the Morrowind main quest and does not fully explore it. If you think that giant insects would make cool pets - if you like the idea of exploring magic NOT intended simply as killing something better, faster or more gore-ridden, then come on in and enjoy.
