I raked a hand through my hair, glancing up at the ceiling. I should probably try to sleep now, I thought quietly, glancing at the time on my phone. 4:37 a.m. I couldn't sleep when Hayes was right next to me, snoring from the past nights of him laying on this couch.
Sighing, I quietly walked upstairs, pushing the door open. It was dark and I couldn't see anything. I felt my way to the bed, startling myself when my hand met Hayes' bare back.
"Fuck." he whisper/yelled. I pressed my lips into a line, muffling the laugh.
"Sorry." I mumbled. I watched as he grabbed his phone, tapping his password. 1234? I rolled my eyes.
I saw him run a hand through his hair with the light of the phone. "Why are you up?"
I shrugged. "Couldn't sleep."
I layed down next to him, switching on my phone. "You should get some sleep." he rolled on his side to face me while I looked at my instagram.
I set my phone down, breathing out a sigh."Why do you care?"
"I care because I love you, Mal." he mumbled, pulling me into him. I felt butterflies, and my whole body felt tingly being this close to him. "And I want to be best friends again. I know it can't just happen like that, but I willing to try everything to get us back."
"I love you, too, Hayes, and I miss this. Goodnight." I breathed in his cologne, mentally breaking.
He doesn't love me like I love him.

"Morning, sleeping beauty." Gilinsky greeted when I walked into the kitchen.
"No one likes you." I muttered, glaring. I was still tired and it was too loud to sleep.

"I love you, too, babe." he winked. How did his girlfriend deal with him?
"Hey, Mal." Hayes smiled sweetly at me.
"Hey." I mumbled, rubbing my eyes. I sat between Maya and Nash on the couch, curling my legs in before laying my head on Maya. A movie was playing, most likely an action because of the boys' shouts.
When my phone dinged, I switched it on, reading the text.
Looking up, I shrugged at his questioning look.
Standing up, I went upstairs, pushing the door open to the bedroom. I took a shower before drying my hair and French braiding it. Rummaging through my suitcase, I pulled out some clothes.
After putting them on, I grabbed some money and my phone, slipping both into my back pocket. Jogging downstairs, I passed Taylor after undoing his bandanna.
"Son of a bi-beautiful!"
I only rolled my eyes. "Smooth." Beginning to go find Hayes, Taylor caught at my elbow.
"Prank week." he whispered in my ear before spraying whipped cream on my nose and cheeks, leaving with a grin.
I looked at him confused, biting at my lip at habit. "We still do that?"
"Yeah!" he ran down the hall, and I sighed, bring a hand up to clear the whipped cream before licking it from my finger. I turned around, Hayes leaning against the counter.
"Coming, Mal?" Hayes nodded towards me, I shrugged. The flash of unreadable emotion crossed his eyes. He started out the door, and I followed.
"You look gorgeous." he grinned at me with more confidence in his words then most could muster. Looking down at my shoes, I mumbled a thanks.
My eyes skimmed him over. He had on gray Nike joggers along with a Vans T-shirt. His hair was unruly and disheveled. He was adorable.

He only shook his head at my response, getting into the jeep. I climbed in after, finding Hayes texting on his phone. Sliding his phone into his pocket, he glanced over at me.
I watched out the window while Hayes drove down the street. "Are we good?"
I hummed, glancing over at him confused. "Are we good?" he only repeated.
Thinking, I aimlessly looked out the window. "I guess, are we?"
"Yeah." he nodded, glancing to his left to avoid eye contact. He only smiled the rest of the drive.
