《I should care because?》Happy Birthday

With every passing day, the distance between Silence and Keme gradually lessened to the point where Silence can say that she felt more comfortable with him around. Silence has already answered most of his questions, though it wasn't usually complete sentences, she still answered him, which made him feel prideful at his accomplishment.
"Hey, isn't it your birthday today?" Keme asked out of the blue.
"Ah," Silence shrugged, she really forgot.
"Here," Keme said, gifting her a book, wasn't this what mortals did? Indeed, we should cherish the years in which they have been alive.
When she didn't respond, Keme simply left the book beside her.
"...Thank you," Silence said slowly. When was the last time someone gave her something just for the sake of her happiniess? Without her asking for it? It seemed like so long ago.
For the first time, she looked at him, really looked at him. Her eyes, dark as night but ask clear as a sunny day. Her small lips bloomed into a smile and she whispered, "Thank you."
Keme blinked and composed himself, when he opened his eyes again, she had turned back to reading as if nothing had happened.
"Eh, I think a kiss is better than a word of thanks," he said with a sly smile. Silence blinked once before looking at him in the eye, coming closer and closer.
When they were an inch apart, Silence suddenly pulled back, and in her hands was the book. Keme just chuckled, he did this trick often enough to know when someone else was doing it on him. Ah, it never hurt to try.
"I never knew that you were this sneaky," he said with a smile, hugging her from behind.
"Hnn~," Silence responded, leaning against him. If someone were to see them, they'd think that they were a couple.

"the tournament is next week, there won't be school until then," a voice announced, disrupting the two's peaceful moment.
"Tournament?" Silence asked, tilting her head to look at him.
"Well, how do I say this? It's a competition between all students. Everyone is dumped in the Thanatos forest, there they are required to kill a few beasts, the more you kill the more points you get, or you could also get a contracted animal there," Keme patiently explained. If a girl were to see this, they'd die of jealousy, as to see that if anyone were to ask Keme to explain something, the most he'd say is, "why should I explain to an idiot like you?" Makes you wonder how girls still like him, then again, it is a game, or at least, was.
Silence of course, had no idea of this and only nodded before continuing to read.
"How about staying at my place before the tournament? Your parents wont mind will they?"
"Hnn~."
"I take that as a yes, don't forget!" he said playfully before creating a wall of shadow, leaning on it and taking a nap.
