《I should care because?》I'm in an otome game..... no wonder (edited)

3 years later
I stood in the shadows by the doorway, watching a young girl sobbing. Mother and father were comforting the poor child. This child was my so-called cousin, yet she was different from me in every aspect. With silky blonde hair and blue eyes, this little girl was the exact image of an angel, even her aura and facial expression matched that of an angel. Innocent and pure, heck, even her name was Angel.
Though you would be surprised how the words to describe an angel has been twisted like black to white and white to black. Wouldn't you know, that angels were truly servants of destruction with wings of many eyes, claws like a multitude of swords on a single hand. How terrible they are, how terrible they were. And yet here they are, being described in such a beautiful manner.
It was kind of nostalgic, I remember having a little sister just like her. I hope that she's safe, I remember when she would always drag me of to play her otome games, I didn't mind that much. I cherished every minute spent with my sister, if only she liked books instead of love games. Come to think of it, didn't her favourite game 「Eien ni watashi no mono」 have a character named Angel? If I remember correctly, Angel was a heroine. She was the cousin of the villain, though their name was never mentioned, the game simply referred to her as a 'the villain'.
Yet it was such a faint memory, a memory that existed hundreds of thousands of years ago. So long ago that it seems so foreign now, like it wasn't mine.
Reaching for that memory, I remember asking her why she didn't have a name. To that she responded in her gentle voice, 'it would be sad if she had a name. I would have to remember that she was human. No, she is a character that would rather be without a name, names can hurt.'

My eyes came unfocused as I tried to think about what she had said before it wandered to where she was at.
The heroine's parents are murdered, so the 'villain's' parents take her in The 'villain' got jealous because her parents never paid as much attention to her as they did to her cousin, so she bullied her at home when no one was around. The heroine, being the angel she was, didn't tell a single soul. When school came, the 'villain' got a major crush on the crown prince. She clung to him like glue, irritating the prince to no end (both physically and emotionally). The heroine could choose one out of the five guys chasing her, or all of them. Either way, the 'villain' bullies her relentlessly, going as far as to physically harm her, when one of the guys catch her. She is then stripped of her titles, exiled, or killed, so on and so forth.
My sister had laughed at this plot and said, 'it's really no different from the other games, is it not? No difference at all! Ah, how nice it would be, if the world was as simple as these games. But even these games are not so simple, how nice.'
I guess I was the 'villain' oh well, I don't really care. I'll care when the time comes. For now, I shall hide in the library as usual. One thing I know is that the servants never look up.

Where did I wake up?
A pretty standard story about a man that gets transferred to a new world, and gains a system to help him survive. This is pretty close to the first draft of this story, so there will be grammar mistakes until I get down to fixing them. Synopsis, genre and tags will also change as I get more writing done. I will try to release two to three short chapters a week. I don't own the cover image; it is just something I found online.

The Card Thief of Culnivar
Deep with the cozy kingdom of Daeton, among the generation-old farmlands and villages, a young farmer’s daughter stumbles upon a dead man. His elaborate clothing has been torn to ribbons, yet his skin remains unblemished. His face is peaceful, and tucked into the hand lying across his chest can be seen a solitary playing card. He is a Ludum Haeres. The last remnant of a Summoner. Numbered among those few capable of changing their destinies. The unseen rulers of the world known as Vesperia, and one of the most powerful creatures in existence. The woman knows none of this. And so, she picks up the card... This is my third novel on Royal Road, the first being "Beyond the Horizon's Eye", and the second being "The Dawnfire Archives". This story is something of a test in a new genre, that of CardLIT. We'll see how well it succeeds as the story continues. It takes place in a different setting than my other tales, with an entirely new cast of characters. It does, however, contain several ties between the stories. Average post between 1000 - 3000 words.
