We were both seated on his bed. I had Drake in my arms, he rested his head against my chest and I could feel his breath against my skin while I played with the curls on his head.

"Skai." I could feel the hot breath from his mouth against my chest as he called me.

"Yeah." I answered as I fondled with the oily curls on his head.

"Are you sure you want to do this ?" He looked up at me from where he laid in my arms.

"Yes Drake, I'm ready to do the work with you and be there for you like you've always been, so are you ready to do the same ?" I asked him as I cupped one of his cheeks with my hands.

"Yes, I've always been ready to be the man in your life. Skai you don't know how many times I've imagined this. " I chuckled before I bent my head to share a kiss with him.

He pulled away from the kiss as he got up from my arm, I watched him as he took a seat beside me.

"Skai,did you know I wanted to share my company with you and make you my partner ?" I smiled at him which made him look at me with a confused expression because he expected me to be surprised.

"Yes I'm aware." I cocked my head to the side giving him a naughty grin.

"What ?! How ?!" His eyes wandered around my face as he waited for answers.

"Becky came by the office today and after seeing how things turned out for me,she told me about your supposed plan for me." I pursed my lips as I squeezed one of Drake's hands.

"Well she didn't spill the beans, it was already late and useless for it to work anyway." He rolled his eyes and threw his hands in the air in disappointment.

I crawled up to him and knelt in front of him, I held his chin with my index finger and my thumb making him to look directly at me.

"I know you feel like I'm leaving you but no I'm not,I might be leaving the company but not you that's why I rushed here from work to stamp that and make it clear to you that we'd always be with one another even if we both have companies to run." I assured him while smiling widely at his face,he was also smiling back at me which made his pale bulgy eyes light up.

"So it's official then, you're finally my girlfriend!" He exclaimed as he hugged me and swing me from left to right while I squealed both for joy and pain became he was crushing me with his hands.

"But you still have to sign the papers though, you have to end the contract." I rolled my eyes at him and stretched my hands for him to give me the papers.

I read in between the lines of words on the papers before I signed the dotted lines,I trusted Drake but reading a document before signing is essential.

"Well,I think we can kick start this relationship now." I said as I handed him the folder.

"Yes babe." His lips curled into a smile as he dropped the folder on his bedside table.

"Wow you're so quick to start the name calling." I teased him as I tried to get up from the bed but he held my hand to stop me.

"Please stay a little longer." He pleaded as he gave me puppy eyes thinking his trick would work.

"I wish I could but I'm expecting a visitor." I said as I sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Who are you expecting ?" He asked me as he shifted in where he sat.

"My mom." I said with a smile as I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

"Oh that's great, when would she be here ?" He asked as he came over to the edge of the bed to sit beside me.

"By 8, I've told one of the guards to go get her so I have to go prepare dinner and freshen up before she comes." I got up from the bed and dabbed Drake on the tip of his nose.

"Hold up! We'd make dinner together." He said as he trailed behind me as I walked out of his room.

I dropped the last dish of food on the dining table as I used the back of my palm to wipe some sweat from my head that resulted from the steamy kitchen.

"Well done babe,we got everything done." Drake said as he came out of the kitchen, shutting the door behind him.

"Yeah and you were of great help." I said as I put my arms around his neck while he wrapped his arms around me.

"I didn't know being a good cook was part of the package." He smiled at me as he stroked my back.

"What package ?" I tilted my head to the side as I gave him a suspicious look.

"You." He winked at me while I blushed like a teenage fan girl.

"You can be so unbelievable at times, anyway I have to go freshen up before my mom comes home and you should too." I told him as I removed my arms from his neck and untied the apron strapped to my body.

"Yeah sure. Skai are we going to tell your mom about us ?" I froze at his question as I dropped the apron in one of the chairs at the table.

"If she brings it up we'd tell her." I casually said as I tried to remove a earring from my left ear but it didn't come off.

"Skai, I think we should. I'm dating her daughter and I'd like her to know." He said as he reached out for my ear.

"No Drake,our relationship is just 2 hours old and we can't start informing people about it." I said as I rolled my eyes as I felt Drake removing the earring from my ear.

"This is not just anybody, she's your mom. She deserves to know what is going on in your life and we both know your relationship with her isn't close enough." He said as he handed me the earring and rested his hand on my shoulders.

"Okay fine but we'd tell her if she brings up suspicions about us but if she doesn't I'd tell her another day." I gave him my conditions as I rubbed my ear lobe.

"Fine,as long as she's going to be informed." He smiled at me as I turned around to go upstairs.

I came down the stairs wearing a simple floral dress with my hair extra curly and wet,I didn't have time to dry it so I had to leave it damp.

My gaze fell on Drake who was leaning against one of the chairs by the dining table, he was munching something that looked like a piece of chicken.

"Don't tell me you're eating from our dinner!" I rushed towards Drake and my guess was right,he had a chicken drumstick in his hands.

"It's just one, no one would notice." He said as he gestured to the dish that contained numerous drumsticks.

"For someone really cute, you're one heck of a dummy." I chuckled as I looked at his outfit,he was wearing a nice wool sweater that he tucked into denim trousers which was held with a nice leather belt.

"Awwwn, so I'm cute." He pretend to talk like a girl as he said those was words which made me roll my eyes at him.

"I like your hair wet, it makes your hair more curly and I love my girls with curly hair." He smirked as he twirled one of my curls with his finger.

"So did Angie have curly hair ?" I asked him as I posted my mouth waiting for a response.

"Yes,they were so beautiful and Fuller than yours." I slapped his arm as I turned away from him with a playful scowl on my face due to my jealousy.

Our attention was caught by James who walked in from the front door.

"Miss Linda is here." He informed us and I nodded my head for him to bring her in while I turned towards Drake.

"Do away with that thing !" I shouted in a whisper as I referred to the piece of meat in his hand.

He rushed into the kitchen and I could hear him thrust something into the trash bin while I stood there waiting for my mom.

He rushed out of the kitchen without the piece of chicken in his hands but he froze amid steps as he ran his hands around his chin probably due to the grease that was on it.

I threw him a napkin from the table quickly and he quickly wiped away the grease from his face and hands.

I looked over to the front door that was opened by my mom with James trailing behind her.

"Mom!" I melodiously called out to her as I strode towards her while Drake trailed behind me.

"Hi my beautiful darling." She said as she engulfed me in a hug patting me on my back.

"Oh wow! You look really handsome in that sweater." She complimented Drake who was standing behind me.

"Thank you and you don't look bad either." She gave Drake a side hug as she smiled at him.

"Yeah and thanks for visiting the other day." My eyes widened at what my mom said as I gave Drake a questioning look.

"I bumped into her in a bank and decided to know where she lived, that's all." He tried to defend himself while I nodded my head in disbelief.

"Let him be Skai,you hardly visit me so what's bad if he keeps me company while you're too busy for your mom." She pouted her lips and gave me a sassy attitude,well she was right,I have been too busy for my mom and it's time to make up for lost times.

"Okay I'd make it up to you at the dining, let's go already." I took her from Drake's arms and walked her to the dining.

"Mom snatcher!"I said as I turned my head to look at Drake who was walking behind us.

We all chuckled as we settled down at the table while taking in the sweet aroma of the food laid before us.

"Skai,I see you still remember our recipe." My mom winked at me as she chewed on her food.

"Yeah, how could I forget." I smiled before putting a little portion of food into my mouth.

I chewed the food but in the process of swallowing it,it went down the wrong path which made me cough profusely.

Drake immediately got up from where he sat and put a glass of water close to my face,I gulped the contents of the glass cup which reduced the cough.

"Easy, are you okay now ?" Drake said as he stroked my back while I dropped the glass on the table.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I swallowed my food wrongly but it's okay now." I assured Drake and my mom who had a concerned face.

"Okay then,take care next time uhn ?" He patted my back as he got up from where he squatted and walked back to his seat.

I looked over at my mom who was smiling at me in a knowing way, I knew that smile and what she'd say next.

"I can see you're really taking care of my daughter." She said looking at Drake, who for some reasons can't control his blushing.

"Well she's my responsibility, isn't she ?" Drake cocked his head towards me as he chuckled while my mom nodded her head in response with a smile.

"What are you up to mom ?" I rolled my eyes as I dropped my fork on my plate, the smiling and awkward looks was becoming annoying.

"I should be the one asking you two." Drake and I shared a look at what she said,we both knew where this discussion was heading and what that'd mean for us.

"What do you mean ?! Is that why you've been giving me awkward looks ?" I decided to play dumb so she could come out well and say what she intended to say.

"Oh c'mon, it's been obvious since the first day I visited this house. There's something going on between you two and I don't know what it is." She gave us an inquisitive look as she stroked her chin.

"Well maybe there is." Drake smirked as he looked down at his food.

"Skai ?!" She looked over at me with an arched eyebrow. I rolled my eyes as I gave Drake an annoyed look,I took a deep sigh before answering her question.

"Yes Mom, we're together." I rolled my eyes realizing I lost the deal to Drake by telling her today.

"I knew it ! Since when ?!" She clenched her fists while smiling like she had achieved something big.

"Two or three hours ago." Drake said while closing one of his eye with his head cocked to his side as he tried to remember the exact time.

"Oh wow! Really ?!" She looked surprised as she covered her mouth with her hands.

"Yeah yeah,mom please keep it to yourself only,we aren't ready to tell people just yet." I said as I stretched my hands to pat my mom on the back of her palm.

"Oh sure! You guys are so cute." She said as she folded her hands under her neck while looking at us in an adorable way.

I got up from where I sat and walked over to my mom and hugged her around her shoulders.

"Thanks Mom." I pecked her on her cheek as I smiled at Drake who was looking at us with admiration in his eyes.

"Yeah, anytime dear but there is an issue." She said as she removed my arms from her shoulders.

I stood beside where Drake was sitting as I gave her a worried look.

"I'm so happy about your relationship but I'm scared... I'm scared of Andre." Her words made me cringe while Drake had his fists clenched.

"Mom, we're going to be just fine." I assured her as I held Drake by his shoulders.

"How can you be sure about that,see what he did to your house and what he did to you in New York...please I'm just being a concerned mother."She pleaded as she looked at Drake and I with worry in her eyes.

Drake stood up from his seat and walked over to her, he squatted beside her as he took one of her hands.

"I promise you that I would protect Skai with everything I've got and I'd make that scoundrel pay for all the pain he has inflicted on us." Drake had a stern look with his eyes focused on my mom.

He looked so serious with his teeth clenched firmly which revealed his sharp jawline. Looking down at him made me trust him more with the responsibility of protecting me.

"Yes Mom, that's why I've been staying here and I've been very careful, don't worry mom we are doing just fine and Andre hasn't showed up in a long time." I supported Drake's promise and I had to let my mom know that I'm safe with him.

"Okay I'd take your word for it, besides if Andre has been quiet for a while that doesn't mean he's relaxed,it means he's planning something big. " She said as her eyes wandered between Drake and I and I could see fear in her eyes.

"We're prepared and we'd take him down." Drake said with so much conviction as he got up from where he squat with his gaze fixed on my mom.

I hugged him from his back and rested my chin on his shoulder while giving my mom a proud smile,I was proud that I had a man who is ready to protect me at all cost.

Drake patted my hands that were across his chest which made my mom smile warmly at me as she dabbed her eyes probably to prevent the bubbling tears in her eyes from rolling down.

"Okay enough of the Andre drama,mom there's still something I need to tell you." I said as I let go of Drake and moved closer to where my mom sat.

"I think you might want to brace yourself for this one." Drake advised as he put a hand on my shoulder.

"Okay ?" My mom said as she gave me a confused look while she sat upright in her seat.

"Do you remember where I work ?" I asked her as I narrowed my eyes.

"Sure, Orchard's Industries." She answered immediately with a smile on her face.

"Well, I'm the new owner of the company." I said as I pursed my lips and looked down at my expressionless mother as she got up slowly from where she sat.

"Wha-wha-what happened to the previous owner ?" She stuttered as she asked her question with shock written all over her face.

"He died so he left the company in my name." I rushed my words because of the awkward nervousness I felt.

She covered her mouth with her palms in surprise and the tears she's been trying so hard to hide finally came rushing down her eyes.

I held her in my arms as I stroked her back while I rested my head on her shoulder,she was crying and laughing probably because it was tears of joy and it was joy she felt as she cried.

"Drake come here." She gestured for Drake to join the hug and that's what he did.

We were all in a group hug and it felt warm and cozy despite the air conditioner that blasted the dining with it's cooling effect.

"I'm so proud of you,you don't know how much joy I have in me. I've always been rooting for you since you left the house and it's really heartwarming to see the height you've attained..." She was cut short by the tears that found it's way into her eyes.

I looked at her with a feeling of satisfaction as Drake and I broke free from the hug, I was satisfied that I was able to make my mom proud and she's shedding tears of joy because of me.

"That's okay Mom, your eyes would get bulgy." I said as I wiped her tears with my fingers.

She nodded slowly while Drake handed her a serviette to wipe her tears properly.

I stood there having mixed emotions. I felt inner peace in my mind as well as the calmness that befell me,I felt satisfied that I've sealed the broken relationship with my mom.

I also felt happy because I was able to secure for myself a man that is ready to go to the extreme to make me safe and happy.

I guess this is the beginning of my journey with Drake and I'm ready to start the ride.
