《STRAWBERRY WINE -corpse husband-》THE ROOM (15)

They laid in Corpse's bed for a long time, watching shows until the sun had risen. Neither of them had slept much, only dozing off for an hour or two at a time, both still shaken up from Corpse's flare up.
They talked through most of the night, giving updates about the things they had missed about each other's lives.
"Do you have a stream today?"
"I'm not streaming, but I'm supposed to join a game," Madison replied, watching Corpse make her coffee from a barstool in the kitchen.
"What time?"
"11. They keep getting earlier and earlier."
"Yeah they do."
They sat in silence, Corpse snuggling into her back while she finished her morning coffee.
"I should probably go home and sleep before the game," Madison suggested sadly.
Corpse nodded, but didn't take any initiative to move, hugging her tighter. "Don't want you to go."
"Baby, I gotta be able to play."
"You can play here."
Madison turned around on the stool, forcing him to let go of her. "Corpse..."
He sighed, "I'm not trying to bring up old shit. But I've thought about it, and if there's anyone who should be allowed to go in that room, it's you."
She grabbed his face gently, tilting his head up to look into his eyes. "You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. If you don't want me in there, if you're even a little unsure, I'll go to my apartment right now, get my equipment, and come back here so I can be with you, and still respect you."
They were incredibly close, noses nearly touching, and all Corpse could focus on was how intimate this was. She was being so careful with him, and he hadn't felt that in a long time. He reached his hand up slowly, resting in on the side of her face. He rubbed his thumb across her lips before finally, he dipped down, kissing her deeply. Her hands moved up and into his hair, giving him more space to grab her hips. They pushed into each other, eyes closed, only able to focus on one another. After long seconds, Corpse detached from her, laying his forehead against hers, breathing in each other's air.
"You taste like coffee," he muttered, kissing her again lightly.
"You taste like toothpaste," she laughed, before giving him a kiss in return.
They stared at each other, smiling, cheeks and lips red.
Corpse separated from her then, giving her some space to get off the chair. He grabbed her hand, and took her down the hallway in front of the door she had once been so scared of.

"I want to show you. And I want you to stay here to play." Corpse's tone was assertive, and she knew she couldn't argue with him. She was still nearly speechless over the fact that they had just kissed, there was no way she could argue with him.
She nodded, and he opened the door slowly.
The room was brighter than she thought it would be; for some reason she could only think it would be black. His desk was the first thing she saw, centered with the door. He had an impressive set up, with multiple monitors and microphones. She didn't recognize most of the gadgets he had, but assumed they were for music. His eyepatch hung on a hook on the side of the desk.
Against the wall to the left, he had a couch, but above it, she was shocked.
Pictures decorated the wall, all of them framed and hung in four straight lines. The top row was mostly pictures of what she could assume to be his family, and slowly they transitioned. Corpse looked older, and had developed his own style, but there were fewer of them, and farther apart in time. She recognized Dave, Mykie, and Loey, all of which was just Corpse and his friends, unmasked, with no eyepatch. He looked overwhelmingly normal. She saw newer pictures, closest to the end, of Corpse and Sean, clearly drunk in a bar somewhere.
"Corpse..." she whispered, moving closer to look at all of them. She looked at all of them closer, seeing more and more people she recognized. "Corpse, you let Mykie do your makeup?" she was laughing, getting as close as she could to the picture, smiling at how happy he seemed.
"Yeah.. she was filming a video with Dave, and I wanted... I wanted some eyeliner or something and she did it all. It was.. that was an interesting day."
She looked back him, smiling, seeing him blushing bright red. "You'd be a hot girl," she complimented jokingly, making him laugh quietly.
"Why do you hang them?" She asked, still looking at each image. The very last picture, the most recent one, was a picture of her. She was sleeping, and she could tell it was a screenshot from their Facetime calls, but instead of the ceiling fan, Corpse was actually in front of the camera, smiling softly.
"I... I take a lot of pictures, but I'm not in them too often. I get so scared they'll be leaked, but sometimes, when.... when people are important, I take a picture with them, because they mean a lot to me, and I trust them not to leak it... I can't post them, but I get them printed, and look at them every day, and remind myself that people on that wall are going to be there if all this shit ends. They're going to be the ones to help me when I get sick again, or if I lose all of this. It's too personal for anyone to be allowed in here freely."

"You... you put me up here? After everything?" She nearly wanted to cry.
"You were there when a lot of people weren't... I knew from the first day I called and you answered without hesitation, that you were going to be important to me. Every night, when you fell asleep, I would.... I would imagine your reaction if you had woken up and seen me staring at you." He laughed, his smile big now. "I realize that's really creepy, wow."
His laugh made her smile. She went to him, hugging him. "It's not creepy, it's sweet," she reassured him, sliding her hands up the back of his shirt, running her nails soothingly against his back.
"Baby..." he huffed deeply. He kissed her forehead, then nose, then lips. "I like kissing you."
"I love being kissed by you," she commented. "But, I also have a job, so I need you to teach me how to use your shit, because I don't know what half of it is, and I have a game to join in like 30 minutes."
—
Corpse didn't want to leave her alone. He was incredibly clingy now that he was open about his feelings, and she couldn't help but love it. The game felt incredibly casual since she wasn't streaming, and her only responsibility was to be a good teammate for all of her friends and their youtube videos.
Corpse still had to be quiet though, since she was using a microphone throughout the game playing Proximity Among Us. He tried not to bother her too much, but felt incredibly inclined to be touching her all the time. She opted for him to sit in a chair next to her, so he could still be involved, but wasn't on top of her like he had tried to be before.
"Heyyyy, Toast," Madison found him hiding in electrical.
"Hi Maddie, are you gonna kill me?!"
Madison laughed. "I'm not an imposter, but can I hide with you?"
"It's not really hiding if you're talking," Rae said, coming around the corner.
Madison and Toast screamed loudly before Poki popped out of the vent, Rae killing Madison and Poki killing Toast.
The entire lobby was riled up, ghosts having watched their winning kills. "Holy shit, that was sick," Corpse muttered, forgetting Madison could be heard.
She looked at him softly, shaking her head, and reminding him he needed to be quiet. He winked at her, going back to playing on Twitter, while she announced this game would be her last. She finished the game as a crewmate, winning the round against Janet and Toast.
"We need lunch, baby," Madison suggested, but Corpse didn't move, still staring at his phone. "Baby?" she said again, closing out all of the apps he had open on his computer, and finally looking over at him.
He was watching a video over and over again, one headphone in his ear. She looked over his shoulder, seeing someone had clipped the audio of Rae's stream where Corpse had talked. If his voice wasn't so distinguishable, no one would've noticed over the loud shouts of everyone else, but his voice was so deep it cut through everyone else's audio, making it sound like he had been right next to the microphone.
The video, although it had only been posted for less than 10 minutes, already had thousands of views on twitter, and hundreds of comments trying to figure out who Corpse was with out of the ten players.
"Corpse, baby, it's okay," she tried to reassure him. She pulled his phone from his hands, and took the airpod out of his ear, trying to force him to focus on her. "Corpse, look at me."
His eyes were slow and unfocused when he did look at her. She got down on her knees in front of him, holding his face. "Corpse, baby, focus on me, okay?"
He nodded slowly, finally starting to register that she was in front of him. "I.... I don't know how..."
"It's okay. You're okay. It was an accident. We don't have to say anything. We can let them wonder. And none of our friends said anything about it, they didn't care in the moment and they won't care now."
Corpse nodded sadly. He had tried so hard to do things right, but one fuck up, and somehow everything feels like it's ruined.
"Let's make some lunch, okay?" Madison grabbed his hands, and pulled him up and out of his chair. She stroked his arms for him, massaging his hands gently. "Gotta make sure my baby still works, right?" she laughed softly at her own joke.
"Mhm," he hummed, letting her touch him, soaking it in while he still had her.
