《The Calamity Girls (Book 1)》Taking Charge

One morning, I read my book to Polly when suddenly, we heard Anne screaming out of nowhere. "Guys, guys, look!" She yelled. "What are we looking at here?" Polly asked. "Suspicion Island, it's like my favorite show ever." Anne said. "I've got the new season and I didn't even know it, must've auto-downloaded before me and Rowena got here." "Meh, I'd prefer shows like, Choir, or Weirder Things, or The Poncho Academy." I said. "Who's this Otto?" Sprig asked. "And how did you download him?" Polly added. "Just watch." Anne squeals as she pressed play on the recap. "Look!" Sprig shouted. "More Annes and more Rowenas!" "They have noses." Polly laughed. "What is this demonic nonsense?" Hop Pop asked. "Hop Pop, this show's got beautiful people doing dumb things while stuff explodes!" Anne explains. "You had me at explosions!" I exclaimed. "Let's do it!" "Now, hold on." Hop Pop said. "Instead of this garbage, how about I treat you to some real entertainment?" "Oh no." Sprig and Polly groaned. "A scene from the shallow pond." Hop Pop said as he read the scene. "Suspicion Island!" We chanted. "Okay fine!" Hop Pop snapped. "But just one."
They ended up watching a couple episodes, but I decided to watch The Poncho Academy. "Alright, that's enough for tonight." Anne said as she turned off her phone. "Aw, c'mon!" Sprig complains. "This is torture!" Polly shouted. "Trust me, guys." Anne explains. "You gotta pace yourself for this stuff." "Alright, you two grubs, off to bed." Hop Pop ordered. Sprig and Polly groaned. "How am I supposed to sleep without knowing what happened to Vivica and Chad?" Sprig asked. "Stupid sleep, I wanna watch it right now!" Polly exclaimed. "So, what do you think, Hop Pop?" Anne asked. "Better than that boring stuff you read to us, right?" "That boring stuff is called literature, Anne." Hop Pop snapped. "And maybe, if you had an ounce of culture, you wouldn't reject it in favor of your substandard, puerile garbage show!" "I have no idea what he said." I stated, leaving my phone on the table. "Goodnight."
The next morning, Anne made popcorn and was prepared to watch more Suspicion Island. "C'mon guys, it's time to get suspicious." Anne called as she turned on her phone, but only to see that it was almost dead. "Wait, what?" "What's wrong, Anne?" Sprig asked. "What's all the ruckus?" Hop Pop asked. "Why are you screaming?" Polly asked. "My battery is low." Anne replied. "But it was fine last night when I turned it off." "That's okay, you can use mine." I said as I picked up my phone, but it was also a low battery. "That's odd, my battery is low too." "Wait, who watched all these episodes and used up all the..." Anne said as her phone died. "It's gone." "What is?" Sprig asked. "Everything, my pictures, my texts, videos of my cat!" "There, there?" Sprig wondered. "Was it you?" Anne snapped. "What, no!" Sprig replied. "I didn't watch anything, it must've been Polly." "What?" She asked. "I even heard her get up in the night, very suspicious." Sprig said. "I needed to pee!" Polly argued. "Plus, if you heard me, you were awake too, you're the suspicious one!" "Don't change the subject!" Sprig exclaimed. "What about Rowena?" Polly asked. "I don't even like that show, but somehow it was on my watch list on my phone." I replied. "If none of you are gonna admit to it, the least you could do is help us fix our phones." "Fair enough, Rowena." Hop Pop said. "How do we bring these things back to life, magic, live sacrifice, I know a guy in town..." "We need power, electricity." Anne said. The Plantar's tilted their heads like my dog, Thor, whenever he's confused. "You know, zap zap?" I asked. "Zap zap?" Hop Pop wondered. "Oh, I think I know what you're talking about, to my study!"

In Hop Pop's study, he pulled out a book titled, Beasts of Amphibia. "I've heard talk of a creature called the zapapede, that lives deep in the misty peaks." Hop Pop explains. "It zaps it's prey with a small spark of lightning." "Sounds like it's worth a shot, how far away is this bug, HP?" Anne asked. "Don't call me HP." He replied. "It's half a day's travel, but that should be no trouble for this gang." "Oh yeah, Well, that's exactly what Chad Vanderblad said, right before he was stabbed in the back by a backstabber on Suspicion Island!" Sprig exclaimed. "I would never stab Chad in the back, but one of you two would." Polly said. "Hey." Anne said. "You're all suspicious, just look at you, now let's get going, the sooner we move, the sooner we get our memories back." "You can still remember without a phone." I added.
On our way to the misty peaks, Sprig brought his fiddle and played some songs. "Look, there's one now!" Hop Pop exclaimed. "A zapapede!" "Wow, looks pretty cute." I said as we slowly walked across the bridge. "Step lightly, everyone, this thing doesn't look like it can take much weight." Hop Pop said. Sprig was yawning as he walked across the bridge. Hop Pop gave Sprig a suspicious look. "Sup, HP?" I asked. "Sprig sure does look tired, doesn't he?" Hop Pop asked. "Awfully suspicious, and don't call me HP." He snapped. "The old man's a lying snake, but he does have a point." Polly added. "You guys talking scum?" Sprig asked. We nodded. "Psst, Anne, Rowena." "Excuse us, HP." Anne said. Hop Pop grumbled. We walked over to Sprig to hear what he had to say. "I want to find out who's guilty just as much as you guys do, lemme help you." Sprig whispered. "Oh no, you don't!" Polly shouted. "You were trying to Chad them into trusting you!" "And you're trying to Vivica them into not trusting me!" Sprig argued. "Oh, and look at Hop Pop trying to Randy his way out of this." Polly yelled. "I don't even know what that means!" Hop Pop exclaimed. "Guys, cut it out." Anne yelled. "You're gonna..." Suddenly, the bridge collapsed, causing us all to fall. "Rope bridge, more like nope bridge." I joked. "Look, down there, more zapapedes." Hop Pop said, pointing out the bottom of the cliff. "Let's just link arms and send someone down." Anne suggested. "Just like the teens did in episode 8." "Ha, so that Polly can drop us to cover her tracks just like Vivica did in the very same episode?" Sprig asked. "You calling me a Vivica?" Polly grumbled. "Maybe." Sprig said as Polly attacks him. "Kids, no, stop fighting!" Hop Pop exclaimed. "Hey, cut it out, you guys." Anne said when Sprig hit her face with his foot. "Oh, sorry, Anne, you okay?" Sprig asked, but Anne joined the fight. "Kids, no, stop fighting!" Hop Pop said again. "It was me!" "Say what?" I asked as all the fighting stopped. "You mean..." "That's right, Rowena, I watched all the episodes, every single one!" Hop Pop exclaimed. "But, you hated Suspicion Island." Anne said. "You even called it garbage." I added. "I loved it!" Hop Pop exclaimed. "Ever since the end of that last episode, I couldn't sleep, I fell in love with those crazy kids on their crazy island, I couldn't get enough, I did the only thing I could, I snuck out to the living room to watch another episode, I vowed only to watch one, but Suspicion Island had it's hooks in me, before I realized what had happened, I'd finished the season, with dawn approaching, I covered my tracks and made my escape. "Unbelievable." Anne said. "What a twist." Sprig added. "But wait, my phone was dead this morning too." I said. "Anne's was like that earlier that night, but I saw yours and I completed the season." Hop Pop explains. "But now, I'm gonna make things right, I will redeem myself!" He grabbed our phones and jumped the cliff into the zapapedes. "Hop Pop!" We cried. "I'm okay!" He called. "You know it's actually kinda relaxing." Hop Pop spike too soon as he was being electrocuted by the zapapedes. "He can't last much longer!" Sprig yelled. "We have to work together!" Polly added. Sprig used his tongue for an anchor as Anne, Polly, and I were linked together to rescue Hop Pop. "Almost, nearly there, got him, oh wait a second." I said as we were all being electrocuted now, but luckily we were blasting to the bottom of the other side of the peaks. Hop Pop looks at our phones, which both read 10,000%. "Holy smokes, that's a lot of percents." Hop Pop said. "So, you love Suspicion Island, huh?" Anne asked. "Yeah." He sighed. "I'm sorry I lied and drained your memory boxes, could you ever forgive this old, silly frog?" " Dude, you just risked your life to recharge our phones, I think we're square." I said as he gave us our phones. "Aww." Sprig said. "Really glad I didn't push you off a cliff like I was planning." Polly told her brother. "Me too, Polly, me too." "Alright, enough fiddle-faddling, we gotta get home so you guys can finish the season." Hop Pop ordered. "If I don't talk to someone about it soon, I'm gonna explode!"
