One day, I decided to play baseball with Anne and Sprig. Sprig grabbed a watermelon and was about to pitch to Anne. "Hey batter batter batter!" Anne exclaimed. Sprig tossed the melon. Anne swung the scythe she used for the bat, but it flew backwards. "Whiffed it." Anne said when suddenly, we saw Sprig lying on the ground. "Sprig!" I gasped as the scythe flew back toward him like a boomerang, but luckily, he avoided the blade as it flew into the woods. "Wanna go again?" Sprig asked. "Yass!" I exclaimed. "Hey, sorry about your hat." Anne apologized as she found the scythe. She was about to grab it, when suddenly, a we heard a meow in the distance. "Hey you found it." Sprig said as Anne shushed him. "Shh, did you hear something?" I asked as the meowing continued. "Something's in trouble!" Anne gasped. We all ran deeper into the woods to see giant hornets attacking a black creature that kinda reminds me of a cat. "Oh my gosh!" Anne exclaimed. "We have to save her." "You got it." I replied. "Right behind ya." Sprig added, pulling out his slingshot. Anne ran over to grab the creature. "Take that buzz brains!" Sprig shouted as he shot some rocks at the hornets. "Go sting someone your own size!" I added, throwing rocks also. "Let's go!" Anne yelled as I grabbed Sprig and ran behind her. "Sprig out!" Sprig called. "Peace!"

We ran back to where the scythe was and I put down Sprig. "You're safe now, little fella." Anne said, but when she saw the creature, she screamed with joy. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Are you stung?" "We'll have to amputate." Sprig added. "No, this caterpillar looks exactly like my cat Domino from back home." Anne explains as she showed a picture of her cat to Sprig. "I love my cat more than anything in the world, she was irreplaceable, but now I found a replacement, let's take her home with us." "Eh, I don't know, Anne, that's a wild animal." Sprig explains. "I'm not sure bringing it home is a good idea." "That's ridiculous." Anne scoffs. "My cat back home was a stray before I adopted her." "To be honest, that's creepy and adorable both at the same time." I said. "Besides, like me, Anne is feeling pretty homesick." Anne held the Domino lookalike up to Sprig as she licks him. "Sold!" Sprig exclaimed. "It's settled, I hereby dub thee Domino 2." Anne said. "C'mon, girl, let's go home." Domino 2 didn't listen, in fact, she just laid there. "Uh, is it broken?" Sprig asked. "Hold up, I got an idea." Anne said as she pulled out a cat toy. "Rowena, would you do the honors?" I held out my hand as she gave me the toy. "This worked on Domino 1 without fail." I said as I shook the toy and Domino decided to follow. "That's it girl, you can do it, c'mon." Anne said in encouragement. Suddenly, Sprig also was attracted to the little toy on the walk back to the house. "I want it." He whispered. "Give it to me."

Back at the house, Hop Pop was cooking dinner by cutting up a worm. "Hey, Hop Pop, old buddy, old pal." Anne said as she walked into the kitchen. "What do you want, Anne?" He asked. "Oh, nothing." She replied. "I was just thinking, doesn't this house feel empty to you?" "Not especially." Hop Pop said. "Wouldn't it be nice to have a sweet, fuzzy, loving critter around?" She asked. "A pet?" Hop Pop exclaimed. "Great idea, Hop Pop." "No pets!" He snapped. "Every time we get one, Sprig and Polly swear they're gonna take care of it, like this one spider we had, Charlie Big Bottom, I mean, sure, they were there for all the cuddling and the snuggling, but who gets stuck doing all the work, good old Hop Pop, that's who, I swear to frog, whoever brings a fuzzy critter into this house, will be on dung duty for a month!" Anne stepped out of the kitchen and back to us. "Plan B, we're gonna have to sneak Domino 2 inside." She said. "Should we be concerned about this?" Sprig asked, pointing at Domino 2, who was gnawing on his leg. "That is called play biting." I explained "Isn't it cute?" "Yeah, kinda seems like she's tasting me." Sprig replied. "That's ridiculous." Anne said. "Trust me, I know cats." "Well, technically, Domino 2 isn't a cat, but she is an adorable caterpillar." I explained as I picked her up and cuddle with her. "Well, alright, if you say so." Sprig opened the door to the house, and surprisingly, Hop Pop was still explaining why we shouldn't have a pet. Sprig gave us the signal to come in and he opened the basement door when suddenly, Domino 2 let out the cutest little sneeze. Anne gasped as her and Sprig hid behind the couch with the cat while I distracted Hop Pop. "What's that?" He asked. "Hey Hop Pop, what's the worst thing Charlie Big Bottom ever did?" I asked, I actually was curious. "How can I even choose." Hop Pop replied. "Jumping our in front of Bessie and over turning the wagon, getting tarantula hair everywhere, then there was the time she put a hole in the roof." "Where exactly did that happen?" I asked. "You blind?" Hop Pop asked. "The big hole right there." "I don't see it." I said as Anne and Sprig quietly walked down the basement.

Later that night, Sprig opened the door to our room to see the cat. "Anne, Rowena, you awake?" Sprig whispered. "Guys." Sprig turned on the lights to see the entire basement covered in webs. "Anne!" "Rowena!" Sprig looked around for us in the basement. Anne was sleeping with the cat, but my bed was surrounded by webs. "Hey, wake up, wake up!" Sprig said, pulling on Anne's hair. "Are you alright?" "Yeah, totally." Anne replied. "Domino 2 just had a bit of a rough first night indoors." She goes back to sleep and Sprig sees cuts all over Anne's face. "Sprig, why is my bed surrounded by cobwebs?" I asked. Sprig points to the cat.

Our room has been very messy for the next few days with Domino 2's webs and bugs. "Whew, hope there isn't a Domino 3." Sprig laughed. "It's all worth it when you get to watch your adorable little boo take a nap." Anne said. "I gotta admit, she is pretty darn cute." Sprig said. "I know right?" I added as Sprig's and the cat's stomach started to growl. "Whoa, looks like Domino 2 isn't the only thing purring." "C'mon, let's go grab some grub." Anne said. "I love grubs." Sprig added.

Upstairs, we all grabbed some food and ate like it was the last meal we'd ever have. "Whoa there, hungry much?" Hop Pop asked. "We've been running around all day, we're starving." Sprig replied with his mouth full. "Running around doing what?" Hop Pop asked. "Not much." I replied when suddenly, a loud crash was coming from the basement. "What was that?" He asked. "Basement ghost?" Anne lied. "Don't be ridiculous, basement ghosts don't sound anything like that." Hop Pop said. When we got downstairs, there was this thing where Domino 2 was sleeping. "What the heck is that thing?" I asked. "Domino 2, where are you, baby precious?" Anne wondered. "Wait, baby precious, that's a pet name, for a pet!" Hop Pop exclaimed. "You sneak a pet in here?" "No." Sprig lied. "Yes." I confessed. "What'd I tell you about pets?" Hop Pop asked. "I'm sorry, it's just that the caterpillar looked just like Anne's pet from back home, it was small, cute, it was black with white spots and it..." Sprig explains. "Wait, a black caterpillar with white spots?" Hop Pop asked. We nodded. "That's a coastal kill-a-pillar!" "Great, another monster!" I exclaimed sarcastically as I grabbed my driver. "Domino 2, is that you?" Anne asked. "Shh, these monsters respond to sound, let's back away very slowly and quietly." Hop Pop whispered. Suddenly, Polly came in out of nowhere. "Hey family, what's happening in here?" Polly shouted. The monster growled and Polly screamed. "Run, kids!" Hop Pop shouts. "I don't wanna die in a basement!" Sprig exclaimed. I started to run upstairs, but then I saw Anne stayed put. "Domino 2?" She asked. "It's me, Anne." "What are you doing?" I asked. "We bonded." She continues, completely ignoring me. "I gave you treats, you gave me dead things, don't you remember?" Anne puts her hand on the monster's forehead, but it still growled and crawled upstairs. "No, wait, come back!" We went upstairs to see that Domino 2 had captured the Plantar's. "Guys!" I shouted. Domino 2 was treating them like cat toys. "I would like to get off the ride now!" Polly exclaimed. "She's gonna bite their heads off as soon as she's done toying with them." Anne panicked. "Toying with them, wait a second." I said as I went through Anne's backpack and grabbed Domino 1's cat toy we used earlier. "Hey, Domino 2, over here!" I shook the toy and she walked over to me and Anne. "Oh, crud." Anne said as we ran out the door to lead Domino 2 away from the Plantar's. We were cornered at a cliff. "Oh, Domino 2, I thought we could change you, but I guess we were wrong." "It's time to go!" I shouted as I threw the toy over the cliff and Domino 2 followed it. "Sayonara, Domino 2." Anne frowns. "I'm sorry, Anne." I apologized, but to my surprise, she hugged me and we walked back to the house.

"And look who's cleaning up after the pet, Hop Pop, that's who!" Hop Pop exclaimed. We walked in the house, Anne was still bummed about Domino 2. "Hey." She said. "Anne, Rowena, you're okay." Sprig cheered. "Tell me that thing is gone!" Polly shouted. "Yeah, it's gone, but Anne is still upset." I explained. "I'm sorry, you guys, I had no right to put you all in danger, no matter how much I miss my cat, I hope you understand." Anne apologized. "Understand, understand!" Hop Pop cried. "I miss Charlie Big Bottom with all my heart and soul!" "Can we please fix the giant hole in the house?" Polly asked.

The next morning, Anne and I were sweeping the basement from the mess that Domino 2 made. "Well, just goes to show you, you can't take some wild animal you found in the woods, have it live in your basement, and think everything's gonna be okay." She said. "I don't know, sometimes it works out." Sprig replied. "Aww, you're talking about us, right." I asked. "Hey, I made you both a little something, I used Domino 2's hairballs as their fur, since they look so similar." Sprig said giving us both a stuffed animal that looked like our pets from back home. Anne got one like Domino, and mine was like my puppy, Thor. "You hate them, don't you?" Sprig asked. "I love it!" We shouted in unison.
