One morning, I was helping Sprig and Polly with the dishes, while Anne was arguing with Hop Pop. I still don't understand their relationship with each other. "Look dude, all I'm saying is that where Rowena and I come from, you can get arrested for having a couch this firm." Anne argues. "Back in my day, we didn't have furniture, we sat on rocks, sharp ones." Hop Pop replied. "Okay, but if I get butt blisters, I'm blaming you." She said. "Back in my day, we called those character." Hop Pop states.

A few hours later, Anne and I were asked to harvest some veggies for the market. "Here you go, Hop Pop." I said. "So heavy." Anne groaned behind me. "Mind the flagstone, girls." Hop Pop warned as Anne tripped on the stone, but I was able to avoid it. "Back in my day, kids spent less time complaining and more time watching their step." Hop Pop picked up the turnips that Anne dropped and put them in the crate. "Yeah, well, where me and Rowena come from, people fixed their crummy houses." Anne complained. "Please don't bring me into this." I added. "This house is like family!" Hop Pop gasps. "You apologize!" "To a house?" She asked.

After the crops were harvested, I decided to play a game of cards with Polly, while Sprig was reading a book. Suddenly, the arguments continued upstairs. "Well, where me and Rowena are from, we didn't rush people in the bathroom!" Anne yelled. "Just wait, Hop Pop is gonna pull the "back in my day" card." I said, very annoyed. "Well, back in my day, we didn't have a bathroom!" Hop Pop argued with Anne. "There it is." I said. "Stop hitting the door with a battering ram!" Anne called. "It's been two hours!" Hop Pop yelled. Sprig was starting to get irritated. "I can't take it anymore!" Sprig yelled. "They're just getting used to each other, it's not a big deal." Polly replied. "Not a big deal?" Sprig asked. "Polly, they've been arguing for weeks now." I added. "If we don't do something now, it won't be long before their bickering tears this family apart." Sprig explains. "I still think we should give them time, not like we have a lot of options, you can't force people to get along." Polly suggested. "Of course not, Polly." Sprig said. "Of course not." "Just go already!" Polly exclaimed as Sprig left the living room. "So, you up for another deal?" I asked Polly. "It's on, girl!" She shouted.

I grabbed my favorite book and took it to the porch to read. But I wasn't really surprised that Anne was reading a magazine and Hop Pop was napping there too. Suddenly, Sprig came outside and started screaming. "We've been robbed!" Sprig cried. "Say what?" Hop Pop asked. Anne giggled. "Sorry, it's just that Hop Pop delivered the perfect sitcom catchphrase." "Must be painful to make so little sense all the time." Hop Pop whispers.

Sprig took us out to the field where the "crime scene" was. "My prize-winning corn!" Hop Pop gasped. "You've won prizes?" Anne asked. "It's an expression, Anne." Hop Pop replied. "What are you, the fact police?" "The injustice, the outrage, we've got to catch this thief!" Sprig exclaimed. "Agreed, and it's so nice to see you so passionate about produce, Sprig." Hop Pop said. "Yes, very odd." Polly added with suspicion. "If the thief stole once, it'll steal again, the only way to catch this monster is a stakeout." Sprig explains. "I like steak." Polly said. "Me too." I added. "Good idea." Hop Pop nodded. "Okay." Anne agreed. "And the only ones who can do it are Anne and Hop Pop!" Sprig ordered. "Say what?" Anne asked. "Well, I obviously can't because I have the attention span of a..." Sprig trailed off by the sight of a butterfly, the only normal bug I've seen since arriving in Amphibia. "Why not Hop Pop, Rowena, and Polly, seems like a winning combo to me." Anne said. "Polly's a baby, Anne." Hop Pop replied. "Just asking, Hop Pop." She snapped back. "Very well, let's be honest though, Anne'll probably fall asleep and it'll just be me, unless Rowena is awake." Hop Pop sighed. "Why would I fall asleep first?" Anne argued. "Aren't you like 100 years old?" "I'm a crisp 68!" He snapped as Anne follows him out of the field, leaving me with Sprig and Polly. "You stole the corn, didn't you?" Polly asked her brother. "Oh, absolutely." Sprig replied. "But now those two have to spend the whole night together and bond." "I hope your plan works, buddy." I said. "Sprig, you can't manipulate people like this!" She exclaimed. "I can, and I did." Sprig smiled. "And it's gonna save this family."

Later that night in Sprig's room, we were about to watch the plan go into action. Sprig set up his telescope and looked through it to see Anne and Hop Pop. "Just look at them." Sprig chuckled. "And now to watch the flowers of friendship bloom." "Lemme see them, Sprig." I said as I looked in the telescope. "I think they're laughing?" "Hop Pop and Anne, laughing?" Sprig asked as we all looked through the telescope. "It's working, they're connecting." They were talking for awhile, but then were back to fighting. "No, no, this can't be!" "Oh, no, what a surprise." Polly said sarcastically. "Okay, no problem, we'll just have to take matters into our own hands." Sprig explains. "Wait, you don't mean..." Polly wondered. "Oh that's right Polly." Sprig interrupted. "I'm gonna steal more corn, right under their noses, they'll have to do this again tomorrow, and the next night, etc." "You're mad!" Polly exclaimed. "Try and stop me!" Sprig laughed maniacally as he went outside. "Oh boy." I groaned.

We followed Sprig outside to the field to stop him from stealing the corn. Polly and I tackled Sprig before cutting the crops. "Stop this madness!" Polly yelled. "Let go!" Sprig shouted. "You've lost your mind!" I added. "A small price for saving this family!" Sprig exclaimed. Suddenly, Anne and Hop Pop walked up to us, thinking we were stealing the corn. "Stop right there, you... you... thief?" Anne said as it turns out, she was on a sugar rush, and so was Hop Pop. "Well, they're broken." Polly said. "Power ups?" Sprig asked as Anne and Hop Pop grabbed farming tools to attack us. They were really aiming for Sprig. I grabbed Sprig and Polly and ran back to the house. "Anne, Hop Pop, it's me!" Sprig panicked. "I've learned my lesson, I promise, I'll never manipulate people..." "Does the corn thief kinda sound like Sprig to you?" She asked Hop Pop. "Now that you mention it." Hop Pop replied as Sprig continued sobbing. "I'm done, I'm going to bed." I said as I ran to the basement.
