Frank, a cigarette lit in between her lips as she sighed softly. One hand was petting the Thunderbird while the other was playing with her hair.
She used to have a terrible habit with smoking after her mother passed. And when her father found out, she either has to stop or move out. You can guess which one she chose.
From then on she would only light up a cig if she really needed it. And I mean really needed it. She couldn't believe that she almost broke down, let alone in front of two people she didn't know. She hated that, feeling weak when she's not.
She could easily turn off her emotions, but emotions are what make us human. Regret, guilt, love, any emotion strives us to do and not do certain things.
It would be so easy to just shut everyone out and hide. And it was easy. Teddy tried that for a good two years, but it didn't help with the neverending guilt thay passed through her veins.
And that is why Teddy is smoking. Because guilt and sadness drove her to it. Smoking makes her happy when she feels this sad. She didn't know that she was crying until Frank nudged his head against hers, and wrapped a wing around her shaking body.
"Teddy? Frank have you seen- Oh." Frank's wing began to unwind itself from Teddy's body and the warm air surrounding her left. The cigarette from her lips fell on the ground as the hot stub burnt her lip.
Teddy's face directed itself on her lap, a small shuffling was heard next to her. She glanced at the area that made the sound and found Newt sat there.
His eyes glanced at the weeping girl and looked back at his lap, not knowing how to properly console her. She did put a knife to his throat on their first proper encounter.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked softly, his body turning towards her.
"No..." Teddy mumbles, wiping the area under her eyes and sniffled.
"Look, I know you mean well Newt, but I can't talk to you." She says carefully, trying to choose the correct words without offending him. "It's nothing personal.... I'm just to used to talking to people about my- my emotions and such."
"I understand, Teddy." Newt smiles small and nods.
"Thank you." Teddy softly rubbed his back, causing Newt to wince.
"Oh god, I'm sorry-"
"Don't worry, not your fault."
"Let me take a look your back."
"W-What? No, I'm fine."
"Newt." Teddy looked at him in a stern voice.
Newt sighed softly and nodded slightly, beginning to unbutton his white shirt. Teddy looked away to give him privacy and hummed softly, looking over at the Occamy's solemnly. As she looked back at Newt she found him struggling to take off his shirt.
"Here, let me." Teddy moved behind him and slowly began to help him remove his shirt.
"Newt... oh-" Her fingers softly grazed his scarred skin, her eyes widening. Red and white stained his smooth skin, a frown falling on her lips.
"They don't mean it. They-They were just scared. I'm okay." Newt tries to reassure that his creatures don't mean harm. Teddy's heart warmed a bit at how Newt was willing to defend his creatures at any time given.
"One's already opened up." Her frown deepened. She got a handkerchief from her pocket and carefully dabbing the blood from a wound. He winced lightly, causing Teddy to remove her hand.
"Do you have anything I can use to make a healing potion?"
"Yeah, in that room you were in earlier."
And with that Teddy quickly left. Newt watched her curiously once again. One moment she's holding a knife to his throat to balling her eyes out and then tending to his wounds.

His eye found Jacob walking somewhere he shouldn't. Newt stood up quickly, slipped his shirt over his shoulders and began to run over to Jacob.
Teddy gathered all the ingredients she needed for a healing potion. Now, she wasn't the best at these since she epically failed that class at Ilvermonry, but she was decent enough.
She mixed the mixture together and poured them into a vile she found. As she left the room, she couldn't find Newt.
"Newt?" Teddy browsed the room, and began to walk around.
After hearing some yelling to her right she ran through a canvas and found Newt, who had his shirt barely buttoned up and Teddy never knew he was that fit he always seemed a bit scrawny but damn- She was chewing on her lip as she gazed away and realized what she was thinking about Newt. She's never wanted to stab herself so many times....
Anyway, she found Newt, Jacob and a black-black-like cloud. Her brown eyes widened and gasped softly. She knew what this was and wished it was a bad dream.
It was an Obscurus. Teddy wasn't an idiot, she heard her mother tell stories about them and how dangerous they were. Newt took ahold of Teddy's wrists and lead her out of the room with Jacob tailing behind them.
"Was that what I thought it was?" Teddy looked at him, surprised and curious on how Newt was able to extract that.
"Maybe." Newt replied hastily, causing Teddy to rip her arm away from him.
"You have a lot of explaining to do." Teddy glared and shoved her hands into pockets in search for a cigarette.
"I know, I know... But we have to look for my creatures. Their unsafe out there." Newt licked his lower lip and looked at Teddy, then the ground.
"Right when you get back... Goodness where is it?!" Teddy groaned loudly.
"This?" Newt held up a packet of cigarettes, causing her to scowl.
"You're like that damn Niffler thing- I swear- give me that." She walked over and reached for it until he held it up high up from her reach. Now Teddy was only an inch shorter than Newt, but she couldn't grab her cigs.
"I don't allow smoking in here. Sorry."
"Sure you are..."
"I need you to stay here and watch my creatures as Jacob and I are out. Can you do that for me?"
"Maybe I'll let them out if I don't get my cigarettes back."
Newt gave Teddy a pointed look and slipped the packet into his pocket. "I'll give this to you when we come back."
"You better." Teddy crossed her arms over her chest, trying to appear intimidating.
"I will, now keep them safe for me." He chuckled quietly and began to walk away, buttoning up his shirt and slipping on his blue coat on.
"Hey Newt," Teddy called out as he was about to leave.
"Yeah?" He looks back before turning to the women in front of him.
"Why do you trust me with your creatures?"
"Everyone needs a little trust."
Without another word, Newt left the room leaving a baffled Teddy watching him go. His words were etched into her mind. They kept replaying, a frown formed on her lips as her eyebrows slightly furrowed together . She didn't mean to, but it was just a habit when she was in deep thought.
