《Calamity Falls》Chapter 24

Riele's POV
Biting my lip, I looked over at the being sat next to me. His attention was attached to the window making me wonder what he was thinking of. I sighed, turning around the corner to find my house a few blocks away. 'Soon, I'll have you back to me' I thought glancing at him for a second before focusing back on the road
I sat on the bed anxiety eating my gut open. "I'm scared" I said falling back on the bed with a huff. I allowed a few tears escape my eyes as I thought back to what I had to do. 'Why did it have to end like this?'
I sighed walking over to Daniel's bed before placing a kiss on his forehead, doing the same to Lee, I walked out of their rooms. "I'll miss you boys, a lot" I muttered in front of their door.
Walking downstairs, I found Jace sitting on the couch with a soda bottle in his hand, his attention fixed on the screen in front of him. Not being able to refrain myself, I ran over to him before jumping on his laps, hugging him tightly; wrapping my legs around his torso and burying my face in the crook of his neck taking in his scent
"I gonna miss you" I said into his neck feeling him wrap his arms around me. I laughed a little knowing he was confused about my sudden action. Detaching myself from hug, I looked at his face. Starting from his jawline to his lips, his nose before finally resting on his eyes.
I woke up at the sound of crickets ringing in my ears. Stifling a yawn, I stretched before getting up from the bed. Realisation of what I'm to do set in my head making me run over to my vanity where my watch laid flashing it's neon lights which showed the numbers I was so delighted to see.
Walking down the stairs, I grabbed my car keys before walking out of the house into my car then driving away from the house, unaware of the set of eyes that seemed to follow me as I left
Pulling my jacket off, I walked a little to the back before running as fast as I could, jumping into the ocean 'It's now or never'. The ice cold water kissed my skin making me cringe. I nodded silently to myself as a tear slipped out of my eyes mixing with the already salty nature of the water
I gasped in horror seeing as she went limped in my arms. With great difficulty, I dragged her out of the water before hurriedly applying pressure to her chest hoping to get the water in her system out.
Bringing my mouth to hers I drew air out of it before going back to applying pressure on her chest. This went on for minutes and I almost gave up until I heard a sneeze wheeze out from her and immediately she shot up, shivering

I wrapped her dry jacket around her which she had dropped before deciding to commit suicide. It all made sense now, why she came downstairs hugging me like her life depended on it. Before I could open my mouth to scold her, an unfamiliar voice cut us off.
"How lovely" I whipped my head behind me to find a figure emerge from the shadows towards us. He stood feet away from us and the glow of the full moon made it easier to see the mysterious being in front of us
He was a man who looked like he was in his late fifties given from the little wrinkles forming on his forehead. He looked slightly familiar but I couldn't pin point where I had seen him that was until Riele gasped beside me
"YOU" she muttered dangerously low, staring daggers into the man. She got up hurriedly as I followed her lead.
The man grinned at her showing his yellowish teeth "Me. Did you miss me? I'm sure you did" he laughed making Riele glare at him.
"What do you want?" she spat venomously making me rethink if this was actually Riele
"Stop being rude to your elder ones. Didn't your mom ever teach you never to reject an invitation sent by someone twice your age?" he snared at her and immediately realisation swam in her eyes as she gasped
"It was you who sent the message to the station" she eyed him and this was exactly what I needed for a few memories to flash in my eyes.
"Dada stop. You're hurting mom. Mommy" the five year old boy screamed on top of his lungs as he witnessed his mother being beaten by his supposed father. But all his pleads fell deaf to his ears as he delivered another blow to the woman's already bloody face
"This is for poking your nose in what is not your concern." he said kicking her side as a cry of pain escaped her parted lips. Slowly, the man turned to face the little boy curled up at the corner crying for his mother.
In anger, he walked over to the poor boy whose eyes now held fear in them. Getting to him, he grabbed the boy by his arm in one swift motion before pulling him to the kitchen ignoring the cries of the boy and the pleads of the woman not to hurt her son.
Placing the five year old mess on the dinner table, the man reached for the nearest sharp object which just happened to be a knife before bringing it contact with the boy's thighs. Decorating his body with several cuts, the man smiled before dropping the knife.
"That'll teach you never to interfere in I and your mother's quarrels" the man said watching the pathetic boy lay on the table loosing blood at an alarming rate

Hearing the all too familiar screams belonging to his mother coming from the sitting room, the six year old boy got out of his bed before walking down the stairs to the sitting room. Hiding behind the couch, he peered from it to find his father with a bottle half filled with alcohol of course.
His mother just happened to fall into the arms of the cruel man yet again. "Where is my food woman? I am asking you again" the man slurred directing his question to the trembling woman in front of him
She shook her head "I didn't think you'll be hungry so I didn't bother preparing anything" she cried. This isn't one of the many times the boy had seen his mother in her vulnerable states making him whimper.
"Wrong answer" the man said, grabbing her face with his hand which wasn't holding the bottle. "When will you ever learn" he sneered at her before pushing her with so much force that it sent her straight at the wall.
Her screams filled the air but the man wasn't done with his tortures as he approached her. The little boy had enough of it, he couldn't bear it anymore. He ran out of the house through the back door where once safe, he broke down as he could still hear his mother's pleas
I gasped "Dad" I muttered but no one heard me as I took notice of the current situation. There Riele stood, exactly where she was earlier only this time she had determination written all over her face. I looked over my dad's side to find that he wasn't alone now.
There, a black haired female stood by his left with a blonde male at his right. A memory flashed past my eyes again as their names got registered in my head "Danny and Jayden" I spoke subtly to everyone.
But then there was someone else, far at the corner was Mary who was held by two huge men dressed in black. Now, I was finally aware of the situation at hand. I snapped my head to Riele and my dad's direction, now listening to their conversation
"Now be a good girl and surrender or say good bye to your dear daughter" he laughed watching Riele but she shook her head making me smile but then I felt two pair of arms around me, holding me down.
I looked behind me to find two huge men dressed in black holding me down in place as I struggled in their grip. "Jace" I heard Riele gasp running over to my side only to stop at the voice of someone.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. One more step and say good bye to him" the familiar voice of Shelby said, coming out of the dark and I gasped.
"You... You were part of these, weren't you?" Riele shouted making my heart clench in pain as she shrugged.
"It's not my fault. The money he offered was too enticing to resist" she smiled pointing at my so called father.
"So you used me then?" I asked to which she pouted in fake remorse.
"Sorry baby" she laughed before walking to stand next to Jayden.
"Would you like to tell me who you used again for my down fall?" Riele spat out enraged
"Well your maid but she didn't do as I ordered so I finished her off" he replied making Riele gasped. "Enough chit chat. Surrender and let's move on" he said impatient but Riele being adamant shook her head
"Riele listen to him please" I screamed unable to shake off the feeling that something bad in about to happen.
"Listen to your boyfriend, Riele. The result of not listening won't be in your favour like you think it would" he warned before dipping his hand in his back pocket bringing out something that made my heart skip a beat
"Riele please. I am begging you, just listen this once" I screamed watching as she gulped seeing what he brought out. A gun and a memory flashed past my eyes again almost making me pass out.
This was just like last time, only that this time Riele will actually die and not me. I struggled, trying to get out of the men's iron grip but nothing happened. I breathe in shakily dreading what was to come.
"Suit yourself. Now you can finally reunite with your sister. Have fun in heaven" and just like that, the loud sound of the metallic bullet leaving the nozzle of the gun filled the air. I gulped watching as the bullet drilled itself straight into the left side of her chest.
Her gasp filled the silent air and slowly, her legs began lowering herself to the ground before she flopped down on the ground unmoving as blood gushed out of the hole in her chest. As if that wasn't enough, he shot several bullets at her again making different holes in her body
Mary screamed for her mother and I did the same, screaming her name repeatedly but it was quite evident to everyone that she was dead. "Finally. Mission accomplished" the man said
Pain filled my entire body but I couldn't do anything as it was overwhelming. The faint sound of my name being called repeatedly reached my ears before the calls began to intensify and before I knew it I woke up
