I opened the door to Mary's room just to find her and her appointed babysitter laughing their asses off. I got in and as quiet as I could, I shut the door but I guess I wasn't that quiet because immediately their heads snapped in my direction.

I looked at the sitter signalling with my eyes for her to leave and immediately she bolted out the door leaving the girl and I alone. "You could've just said that you weren't fine. That would've been more..." I paused eyeing her before continuing "...ladylike" I rolled my eyes walking over to the white chair in the room where the sitter had once sat

"I'm sorry to say it but she's in the hospital" I said in fake sympathy. The scowl on her face was now replaced by a big frown. 'Damn girls and their fluctuating emotions' I rolled my eyes

I clicked my teeth with my tongue "I didn't do anything this time, honestly. It was your mom's friend that did that to her" I said watching as her eyes began to cloud with confusion making me chuckle

"Watch your tongue kitten. Don't just propose things you won't be able to do especially to people like me but don't worry, I'll take your offer into consideration" and with that I shut the door

I smiled as I closed the door to the house as Shelby left. The things we did still fresh in my head. Her moans kept on replaying in my mind which did nothing to help my current situation as my little friend was as awake as ever

I ran to open the door and immediately several people came in, specifically Riele's friends. "What happened El?" Jade asked as she held unto Sean's hands in fright. Sean's face twisted into that of pain which would've been amusing if we weren't in this current situation

"Lizzy. That's what happen. Because of Lizzy Riele is in the hospital right now suffering from an heart attack" Ella said tugging at her mass of dark brown hair as Carl tried calming her down by rubbing her back. Everyone in the room except Ella and I gasped

And that was how we all shoved ourselves into cars with me leading the way to the hospital with Ella and Carl while Jade, Sean and the other lady, whose name I learnt was Karla, were behind me in their car

We got out of the car in a hurry, heading straight for the white and red building just in our line of vision. Opening the door to the building, we were attack by the sharp and stinging smell of detergent. Walking over to the nurse behind the counter, I opened to my mouth to speak but Ella beat me to it

"We're here to see Riele Downs, can you please tell us which room she's in?" she said hurriedly. If I didn't understand or was aware of the condition currently, I would've assumed she spoke rather rudely at the nurse

The nurse's eyes filled up with rage, glaring at Ella who gave little to no care about her. The honey blonde haired nurse parted her red painted lips to speak before I cut her off "I'm so sorry about that. Can we go check up on her?" I asked before a fight could start and from the looks of it, Ella didn't seem like someone that would back down that easily

She gave a curt nod in my direction but her eyes were glued to Ella who, unfortunately for me, yanked my hand in a random hall "Come on we need to get to her room" she said, digging her perfectly manicured nails in my arms.

I sighed before gaining control of my body and began pulling her down the familiar hall with the others behind me, following closely. The hospital was quite busy; Either with doctors running from one ward/room to another or other white coat clothed doctors yelling instructions at nurses.

My feet came to a stop as I stood infront of the all too recognisable white door that matched the others on the hall; The only thing different was the number of the room that was written on the door. "Is this it?" Ella asked impatiently, glancing at me then back at the door before I nodded. She visibly gulped before placing her pale hand on the door's handle, twisting it open.

The door screeched open cutting me off and immediately the sounds of different feet scraping the floor reached my ears. I snapped my head over to the door only to find my friends standing there with their mouths wide open as if they just witnessed one of those myths our grandparents often told us, coming true

I was a little confused and also shocked on how they found me. All of that decapasitated as my eyes landed on Jace who was just behind them and I became angry all of a sudden but I bit down on my tongue to avoid saying something I'd regret

"H-Hey guys" My voice shook slightly from my nervous state. I watched them cautiously as they approached my bed still in shock but as I looked closer, I saw tears begin to fill up their eyes making me feel a little guilty

"Oh my God, Riele" Ella was the first person to break down. Before I could do anything, something obstructed my vision of the room as I felt arms around me, squeezing me tightly. The silent sniffles I heard made me realised who it was.

"It's ok El. I'm fine see" I patted her head making her calm down, just a little. She detached herself from the embrace looking at me with her teary face.

"Are you ok?" she asked, wiping her tears with the back of her hand before sitting on the bed I was lying on

I opened my mouth to say yes but no word came out. 'I'm I really ok?' I thought before shaking me head trying to drive the taunting thoughts away. I offered a tight smile in her direction which helped calm her a little

I looked back at my other friends that were still in the room before my eyes fell on my sister who, like everyone, had tears in her eyes. She parted her lips open to speak but was cut off "Hold up, why is she here?" the familiar voice of Jade rang in my ears making me look at her only to find her looking at somewhere else

I followed her eyes to see that she was glaring at Shelby. I almost forgot she was here and the conversation we had before they got here "Hey Jade" Shelby smiled, waving her hands slightly at Jade who had a frowned planted on her lips

Ella got up from her place on the bed to join Carl at the other side of the room. "What are you doing here?" Jade asked again, this time I could hear her clenched teeth as she spoke

"Chill, I came here to visit my boss. Is that a crime?" Shelby said, her brown eyes twinkling in something I couldn't decipher.

Then Sean spoke for the first time since he got in here "What happened to your old job as a doctor?" he narrowed his eyes suspiciously at her.

"I was being harassed so to save myself from future troubles, I resigned" she explained but it felt like no one believed her. "After a while Riele found me and offered me a position at her company and I accepted" she smiled at me

"Do you really think I'll believe that?" Sean asked, his face becoming slightly red in anger. Shelby's thin lips now formed into a scowl, glaring straight at Sean with fire in her eyes. I knew I had to do something to avoid a fight from happening so I asked a question

"Where's Lee and Daniel?" I asked to try and clear the dense air but as soon as the question left my mouth, the air became denser. Everyone had their mouths glued shut and their eyes driving away from meeting mine.

I bit my lips in suspicion before I asked again, directing my question at Jace "Where's Lee and Daniel, Jace?" I asked with more force, subtly informing him that I wasn't joking.

He slowly brought his eyes to meet mine and when he did, they held nothing but fear. "I'm not sure you'd like to know Riele and with your condition right now, I don't want your health to get worse because of me" he explained but I've had enough of this bullshit.

"JUST TELL ME WHERE MY BABIES ARE" I yelled making them all tense up. I could hear my heart pounding in my ears as a lump began to form in my throat.

I heard him sigh "Rie, Lee got poisoned" and that was all it took to make my walls come crumbling done. The ringing in my ears intensified just as the world began to spin right before my eyes. The blurry image of Karla approached, mumbling a few words but they sounded far away.

I looked around the room frantically in fear before they landed on the needle in my left arm. Irritation bubbled in my chest making me rip the bandage and needle off. I didn't care about the crimson colour that appeared on my skin after that.

My eyes traveled back to Jace, fortunately I could see clearly now. I managed to swallow the huge lump in my throat before I spoke "Where are they?". I watched as he hesitated, having a mini battle with his brain, then he replied

"Room 105" he said and I bolted for the door. I expected someone to follow me but no one did and I was thankful. As I ran across the numerous halls, I began to realise how stupid I was. Yesterday, Jace and Shelby did mention that Lee was in one of the hospital rooms but I guess jealousy clouded my mind and hindered me from thinking

Tears fell down my face in a sequential order as I ran through the halls, bumping into different people. I was a bad mother; I allowed something so foolish distract me from thinking about my son. I pushed my legs faster up the stairs, ignoring the pain that coursed through my body from my back.

Then the realisation that I couldn't walk quite properly registered in my head but I didn't care if this worsened my condition, it's my child's life that's on the line here and I will do anything for him; for all my children.

I gasped a breath of relief as I stood infront of a door with Room 105 written in bold letters. Without hesitating, I twisted the handle open then rushed in what I saw made me stop dead in my tracks.

There Lee was, lying on the common white bed sheets of the hospital with Daniel sitting next to him feeding him his food. The sight alone made something swell up in my chest and a smile crept on my face.

I walked over to the bed where they were both sat before bringing them into a bone crushing hug. Hot salty tears rolled down my cheeks, dropping on their hair. I detached them from the hug as Daniel's beaming yet tired face came in view and I couldn't help but smile

"Mom, you're awake. I was so scared and worried" he said excitedly before kissing me on the cheek making me giggle slightly.

"Yes I am honey. I'm glad you're alright" I kissed his hair before patting his disorganised hair down. Shifting my attention to Lee, a small smile crept onto his face but his eyes held so much tears that had me worried and one by one, they began to drop.

I sat on the bed ignoring the pain that course through my back like wildfire. He wrapped his tiny arms around my neck crying into my sky blue, almost white, hospital gown. I whispered soothing words in his ears making him calm down after a while. I detached myself from his embrace before wiping the tears that fell on his cheeks. He smiled at me making me smile as well. "I'm glad you're ok too" I kissed his head making him pout

I looked to the corner surprisingly finding my nanny sitting on the chair staring into space. I walked over to her with the boys back to what they were doing earlier.

Standing in front of her, I waved my hand in her face but it looked like she was in an another realm entirely. I called her name several times but she didn't bulge. My gut began to churn making me gulp. It felt like something bad was about to happen but I couldn't pinpoint what it was

Slowly, she turned her neck in my direction before her eyes landed on mine. She stared at me in a way that had shivers running down my spine in the most menacing way ever. "You can walk now?" she tilted her head questioningly to which I shook my head

"I managed up here" I laughed slightly but she didn't laugh along making me frown. I looked at her and she looked like crap. She had a busted lip with blood oozing out of it; Clearly, it was a very fresh wound which made me wonder if she got into any fights coming here. With her bloodshot, colour drained empty eyes and her extremely skinny figure which could barely keep clothes on her body, I didn't know which to be most concerned about

So I asked the first thing that came to my mind "What happened to you?" but just like anyone in her condition would've replied, she replied with the infamous No. I sighed "I'm here for you. Come on tell me what's wrong?" I tried again

I searched her eyes for answers but she didn't let me in. I sighed in defeat "Whatever you say". Before I knew it, Jace barged into the door with Shelby by his side "Riele, the doctor needs to check up on you" he said, his eyes brimming with concern making me heart flutter slightly

I nodded before looking back at the boys "Take care kids" I said. Following Jace and Shelby back to my room, the conversation Shelby and I had kept ringing in my head especially the last words she said to me "Beware, bad things, worse that these are coming soon. Be prepared"
