《Reality Check (One Piece Fan-Fiction)》Chapter XX: Lyon vs Smoker

Third Person POV
All you could see were arrows flying everywhere, Leo never missed it was just that they either went through him or her deflected them with a hit from his jitte. Smoke filled the air as Leo constantly did back flips to avoid getting caught in it, he was on his hands when he pushed himself of the ground & grab an arrow
"When will you get it through your head?! I'm a logia devil fruit user, that'll just go through me!"
"Not quite. !" he fired multiple arrows & when they got at least a tiny inch near Smoker, he was engulfed with flames "Fire vs Smoke, that'll be an endless battle."
"Well played." Leo flashed a grin as he sat up on the edge of a building in crouch position
"Thanks."
"!" he yelled out as he goes for a punch, luckily before he did, Leo coated his fist in haki so when he did a front flip off the building he grabbed Smoker by his wrist & slammed him into a building as he landed on the ground with a thud "How were you able to grab me?!"
"You'll learn, if your a marine, someone oughta teach you what it is." he tried punching him but failed every time, Leo smirked when he saw that Smoker's face was actually turning red, making Leo chuckle "Someones getting annoyed."
"Oh you have no idea." Smoker thrusts his jitte towards him but he easily side stepped out of the way, unfortunately Smoker swept him off his feet & Leo fell onto his back. He was going to do a kick up but he (Smoker) slammed the tip of his jitte through Leo's over coat into the ground, making it difficult for Leo to get up "Looks like your stuck."

"Oh, it seems so." he looked down at him weirdly but blushed darkly when Leo winked at him, his grip loosened a bit so Leo took that opportunity to kick him off, when he was far away he ripped the jitte out from his coat "Come on man, this was my favorite one, & you got my hoodie?!"
"Damn pirate scum! Give that back!" Leo swung it around a couple times before throwing it over to him, he was a little confused
"Its unfair to fight a component who's unarmed, its not my type of style, its cowardly." Smoker raised an eyebrow at that as Leo readied his aim towards Smoker, he only smirked & readied his jitte
"Bring it on."
"!"
He shot the arrows & it went straight through Smoker but it exploded into an eternal flame inside him, once the dust & flame disappeared, Smoker was on his face & chest & was coughing. Leo was going to walk away until he heard quiet sobs, he turned around & saw that Smoker was gritting his teeth as tears slowly appeared
"Fuck! Goddammit! I've never lost before, never to a pirate at least!" he tried blinking the tears away but more appeared "Why the fuck am I even crying for?!" Leo sighed & walked over to Smoker & crouched down "Why are you here? Going to finish to job?" what he didn't expect was that Leo offered his hand to him
"Need help?"
"From you? I'd rather go to my grave."
"By the amount of blood you've lost, you probably have at least an hour or less before you do visit the afterlife, if not, maybe a couple minutes. Just take my hand."
"Why?"
"Just because we're enemies by what we go by, doesn't I can't help you, that's not my type of style either." Smoker looked up at him again before hesitantly grabbing his hand, Leo helped him up & was going to let go but Smoker almost fell forward "Doesn't seem like you can stand."

"I'm fi--" he cut himself off with a grunt, he then sighed "Whatever."
"Lets go." Leo brought him back to the bar he was punched out of & the two of them sat down at the front of the bar, where Sil had fallen asleep. He then started to tend Smoker's wounds while he (Smoker) took a swig of vodka
"I haven't had a drink in... forever." he winced in pain when Leo dabbed (ay!) some alcohol onto some of his open wounds but calmed down when he wrapped them in bandages
"& I'm done! That wasn't too bad, was it?" he merely rolled his eyes & tossed Leo a drink
"I can't believe I'm going to say this but, this is actually pretty relaxing."
"I could say the same thing." Sil slowly woke up & saw the conversation between the two & decided to stay out of it, Leo really looked like he was enjoying himself, talking to someone that wasn't a Whitebeard pirate or a child... but someone he can kinda relate to
"Hmm, it seems I've stayed for a little to long. Next time we meet, Archer, I'll definitely be able to beat you & win." Leo raised an eyebrow
"Is that so? Alright, I'll be waiting then." Leo had his fist out & Smoker chuckled before bumping it, he then turned around, waved & walked through the hole he created before walking off to who knows "Well that was nice, shall we go as well, Sil?"
"Finally."
Time Skip
Leo had arrived back onto the Moby Dick & the first one to greet him was none other then Marco, he was developed into a strong hug & felt tears on his shoulder. He looked over at the older man with shock & saw that he was actually crying
"I'M SORRY FOR YELLING AT YOU-YOI!!!" Leo just looked at him weirdly as he put his glasses on his hat & stared at him weirdly "PLEASE DON'T RUN OFF AGAIN!!!"
"That's not the reason I ran off. Well, it kinda was but it also wasn't." everyone kinda sweat dropped when they saw Marco pull Leo closer into the hug
"Do you forgive me..."
"Hmm... maybe."
"Maybe?!"
"You need to trust me more often, like I said before, I am not a child anymore. I can make my own decisions, okay? If I leave the ship I want you to now worry for me, I will be fine." he gave him a face
"Its my duty as an older brother to worry for his younger brother-yoi."
"But do the others worry as much as you do?" he looks away "Promise me you won't, & I'll forgive you fully, Marco."
"...*sighs deeply* Alright fine, I promise." Leo smiled & hugged him, Marco was a little shocked before hugging back. Soon enough Thatch & the others joined in, Whitebeard wasn't to far when he saw that & smiled at them
"Such good children, looking after their youngest."

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
