《ex | changlix》52

the following monday in school was awkward to say the least. for the most part, changbin and felix didn't have to see each other, but when lunch time came, that's when they were forced to be together.
everyone sat around the table, changbin next to hyunjin, hyunjin next to jeongin, and beside him was felix, then chan, then seungmin, then jisung, and lastly was minho.
conversations were broken up around the table, chan and felix talking along with jeongin. hyunjin and changbin were having their own conversation, and then minho and jisung were talking. this left seungmin alone to observe the table.
he watched jeongin constantly turn to hyunjin like he wished he was talking to him instead. seungmin understood jeongin's pain, he wished he was talking to chan.
minho finally noticed how awkward the table seemed, especially how upset seungmin looked.
"does seungmin seem okay to you?" minho whispered to jisung.
"hm... i don't know. i feel like he always looks a little upset so i can't really tell." jisung shrugged with a frown on his face.
"i hate what our friendship has turned into." minho sighed as he looked around the table.
"do you think it's a bad idea to date within the friend group?" jisung asked as he stared down into his lap.
"not when you're soulmates," minho raised the boys head gently by his chin and planted a sweet kiss upon his lips.
"ew, i just cringed." jisung shuddered.
"shut up, you loved it." minho spat back at the boy.
"but seriously minho, what are we going to do?" jisung asked.
"we're gonna fix it." minho stated as he then turned back to the rest of the table.
"guys," minho slammed his hands down on the table to earn their attention, "jisung's stupid games at my house obviously didn't fucking word so we're settling this here. we're fixing this friend group."

"heyyy!" jisung whined as he hit the latter in the chest.
"what? it's true!" minho responded, as he then heard changbin let out a slight scoff.
"do you have a problem changbin?" minho questioned.
"no problem." changbin shook his head.
"then stop acting like a little bitch and let's fix this." minho said through grit teeth.
"fix what exactly?" felix asked innocently.
"us, everything." minho replied, "i'm tired of us acting like we're strangers when we're all meant to be best friends. i get that changbin and felix have their own shit going on, but that's between them. they never asked us to take sides. they're fine sitting here together, so why can't we be?"
"yeah, we never wanted this to ruin the rest of the friend group." felix explained, but changbin just sat there playing with his food.
"so what do you suggest we do?" chan asked.
"i suggest we all cut the crap and start talking to each other," minho stated, "felix used to be close to every single one of us. we all considered him to be a cuddle monster who would never stop attacking us in hugs, and now i can't remember the last time i got a hug from the boy."
"i'm sorry..." felix frowned.
"no lix, i don't blame you in the slightest, i was just using you as an example," minho assured the boy before continuing, "another example would be hyunjin and jeongin, who i am glad to see sitting beside one another again, but they used to be the closest pairing in the group without ever dating.
then we have chan, changbin, and jisung who used to be the unbreakable trio... then there was seungmin and i who you guys used to consider the divorced couple. then there was hyunjin and jisung... the two you couldn't trust alone together in a room because they would break something for sure.

changbin and seungmin used to be those fake flirts, it was a weird yet cute dynamic, although it stopped when changbin and felix started dating. however you two did remain very close through it all.
i could go on and on about the different friendships that make up our entire group, but it would honestly take way too long.
we all have such unique relationships with each other, and as a whole it's truly something beautiful and worth saving. i swear, this summer is what tore us apart."
"what happened over the summer?" felix spoke up hesitantly.
"what didn't happen is the better question." minho stifled a laugh.
"it's when jeongin and i got into our big fight..." hyunjin mumbled as he reached out for jeongin's hand underneath
"it's when i stopped going to group hang outs..." seungmin added.
"it's when minho and i started dating and didn't really hangout with anyone else..." jisung sighed.
"that's when changbin and i..." chans voice trailed off before finishing the sentence.
"that's when we stopped being friends." changbin finished the sentence for the latter before standing up from the table and leaving the lunch room.
"why can't you two just fucking make up!" minho shouted at chan who unfortunately had to take the heat since changbin left.
"i wish it were that simple." chan now left the table as well.
leaving the rest of the boys to just sit there, wanting to fix their friendships.
for the remainder of the period, the six boys who remained did all they could to repair the damage that had been done.
it was simple for the ones left. there was no real bad blood meaning it was a lot of miscommunications and time spent away from eachother that really caused harm to their relationships.
chan and changbin were now the only two that needed reconciling, besides changbin and felix, but everyone accepted that as a lost cause...
everyone but felix.

for someone who writes lots of romantic shit, i experience the least amount of romance🥱 (not that this story is very romantic, it's just depressing... that's besides the point tho)
i never really experienced romance before
first relationship- shitty, we were freshman in hs, hardly even counts
second relationship- was focused around the wrong things on his part ✋😔
third relationship- she wasn't allowed to be with me so we never spent time together 😀
and this is why i don't think i'm meant to be in a happy relationship 🤸🏻🤸🏻

An Unwilling Monster
In the city of Kholakel, the highlight of the year for the upper classes is the annual monster pacification of the misty woods. Ostensibly it's a culling of the monster population to prevent them encroaching on urban areas, but it's an open secret that it's actually treated as more of a blood sport, the participants competing to score the most kills. After all, why else would the politicians and elites of the city bother to attend personally? Given the intense competition and high-tech weapons and gear in use, one might wonder how the forest has not yet been completely depopulated. As this year's culling approaches, a group of unfortunate children are about to discover the answer first-hand, but thanks to an unexpected twist of fate, one of them will score the chance to play the role of the hunter instead of the prey. This was an attempt at writing something darker than my usual fare. The story I actually ended up with isn't as mean to the MC as I'd originally planned out, to the point that I'm not sure the story deserves the horror/grimdark tags anymore, but this is still an unfair world with unambiguously evil antagonists. Chapters are short to start with, but get longer once the first act is over.
