monday morning rolled around faster than anyone would've liked. after the incident at the café, no one heard from felix.
they all reached out repeatedly, but the boy refused to respond. felix wasn't trying to earn their sympathy, he simply just did not want to speak about it.
they all understood felix probably was just trying to get over it on his own, but they all still felt a bit of guilt for the entire thing.
the boys entered school one by one, hanging out as a group by the lockers before class started. the last three to come in were felix, changbin, and hyunjin.
felix came in a few moments before changbin and hyunjin. he joined his group of friends, throwing on his fake smile and a cheerful attitude.
"hey guys!" felix greeted. they all turned to him a bit confused, but decided to let it go and not discuss the weekends events.
"hey lix!" jisung smiled back at the boy.
"hey felix," minho said.
the other boys waved and flashed a smiled, but chan walked over to felix and wrapped him up in a tight hug.
"chan?" felix questioned through a bit of laughter.
"i'm sorry felix..." chan said softly.
"it's okay chan, it's okay." felix wasn't too sure why chan was the one apologizing, but he figure forgiving the boy was the easiest way to stop speaking of the topic.
as felix was in chan's arms, hyunjin and changbin entered the building to see the sight right in front of them.
changbin felt his heart wrench, but he just tried to continue his conversation with hyunjin. hyunjin saw what was going on and did his best to make changbin laugh.
felix heard the laughter and immediately removed himself ofrom chan's arms. it wasn't even on purpose, he just heard changbin and instinctively turned to see him.

however, when felix turned around, he was greeted by the sights of hyunjin leaning on changbin and grabbing onto this arm.
felix spun the other way and just walked over to his own locker, grabbing the things he needed for class.
changbin didn't even notice felix disappear, he was far to wrapped up in his own world. as he finally made it over to his friends, they all said their hello's and that was when he noticed felix wasn't there. at this point, neither was jeongin, but hyunjin was the one to notice that.
jeongin walked over to felix's locker and let out a heavy sigh before speaking, "it hurts, doesn't it?"
"what does?" felix responded as he looked over at jeongin.
"seeing someone else make him smile like that." jeongin explained, his expression was melancholy, his sadness was almost radiating off of him.
"i'm happy if he's happy." felix smiled, but jeongin notice the slight frown that appeared before the smile.
"you may have everyone else fooled felix, but i know it hurts you. it hurts me too." jeongin stated, and for the first time in a long time, he hugged felix.
"i thought you didn't like hugs?" felix asked as he laughed slightly.
"i just really needed one right now." jeongin admitted, his voice being muffled by felix's shoulder.
"well i will always be here to give you a hug." felix assured the boy.
"can you somehow get changbin back so i can finally have hyunjin? before you two broke up i swore it was going to happen... then he ditched me for changbin." jeongin spoke, a frown plastered on his face.
"i can't get changbin back, i'm sorry. you still have a chance with hyunjin though, he's staring at you right now." felix said. jeongin didn't see since his back was to their friend group.

"is he actually?" jeongin asked, his eyes going wide.
"mhmm... you still have a chance, but i do think changbin likes him. i don't see changbin like that with anyone besides hyunjin... he has to like him. what's not to like? hyunjin is perfect..." felix finally revealed his sadness to jeongin, his cheerful act falling for a moment.
"felix, please tell me you don't compare yourself to him." jeongin felt bad for felix and he knew he was right since the boy didn't respond.
"you two are so different... that's like comparing red and blue. they're completely different, yet they're both pretty colors." jeongin stated, but felix didn't agree.
"some people like blue and not red..." felix shrugged.
"and some people like red and not blue... and others like both. what's your point felix?" jeongin questioned.
"my point is i'm not hyunjin okay? i'll never be hyunjin. i'll never be good enough, pretty enough, funny enough.. i will never be enough." felix realized the words that had slipped out of his mouth and before jeongin could respond, felix ran off to his class.
chan watched felix go running down the hallway and immediately went over to jeongin, changbin following just a few steps behind.
"what was that about?" chan questioned worriedly.
"i don't know, as the new couple." jeongin spat out as he glared at hyunjin and changbin.
"but we're not a couple!" hyunjin laughed nervously.
"yeah right. how was sharing a hotel room for your little trip? i'm sure you two had lots of fun, maybe even kissed." jeongin stared the two down as watched as they looked at eachother when he accused them of kissing.
"no fucking way, you two kissed?" minho cut in, catching the little exchange of looks.
"uh--" neither changbin nor hyunjin knew what to say.
"i swear, this will be the death of our friend group." seungmin shook his head as he began to walk off to class.
"yeah... i feel like everything is falling apart." jisung frowned and buried himself in minho's arms.
"but we're not like a thing..." hyunjin stated, but changbin continued to stay silent.
"sure, good luck convincing anyone of that." jeongin scoffed and walked off, the rest of the boys leaving to go to their classes as well. the only two remaining were changbin and hyunjin.
"we're fucked." hyunjin said and let out a heavy sigh.
"pfft... you think?" changbin responded and just began his walk towards his class.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
