hyunjin finally arrived at his dorm room after running out of jisung and jeongin's celebration. he walked in, searching for seungmin, who he knew would ultimately be hiding out in his bedroom.
hyunjin knocked on the door, earning silence in response.
hyunjin twisted the knob and jerked the door open to see seungmin curled up underneath the blankets in his dark room.
"seungmin... can we talk?" hyunjin asked with a sincere voice.
"go back to your boyfriend." seungmin shot back, his voice slightly muffled from his pillows.
"no minnie, you're my best friend, i have to make sure you're okay." hyunjin walked over and careful sat down on the bed beside seungmin.
"don't you see hyunjin? that's the problem! i don't want to be just friends with you. if you werent dating jeongin i would kiss you right now, i would confess everything... i would ask you to be my boyfriend!" seungmin sat up quickly as he raised his voice towards the other.
"seungmin..." hyunjin sighed, "you're drunk, you're not thinking straight."
"im never thinking straight anymore! i'm stuck with these stupid thoughts of you!" seungmin cried out.
"you can blame me all you want seungmin, you can hate me. do whatever you need to get over me, but i can't give you the answer you want." hyunjin admitted sadly.
"then why did you chase after me? why bother coming here?" seungmin asked as the tears began to well in his eyes.
"i needed to make sure you're okay. i will always have love for you seungmin... but i got over you a long time ago when i thought we had no chance of being together." hyunjin couldnt look at seungmin, he couldn't bear the thought of hurting his best friend.

"why didn't you tell me you had feelings for me? we could've been together right now if you did!" seungmin hit hyunjin in the chest repeatedly, and hyunjin just allowed him to carry on.
once seungmin gave him, hyunjin held the boy in his arms and allowed him to cry.
"im sorry seungmin, but i'm going to assume it's the same reason you didn't tell me how you felt... i was afraid."
"and you weren't afraid with jeongin?" seungmin pushed away from hyunjins arms and looked the boy in the eyes.
"with jeongin... everything was easy, it felt natural. nothing was forced or awkward, we just sort of clicked. i'm sorry it didnt work out for us seungmin... i think i finally know what people mean when they say right person wrong timing." hyunjin explained, trying his best to let the latter down easy.
"how am i the right person but wrong timing?" seungmin questioned.
"we met when i was at a point of extreme self hatred... when i hooked up with you that day, i was looking for something to make me feel better about myself, i wasn't looking for love.
unfortunately for me, i did develop feelings for you... but i had no idea you even remembered the night so i just tried to move on as quickly as possible.
shortly after my feelings began to fade away, i met jeongin and everything really started to change when he came into the picture.
i would be lying though if i said i feel nothing towards you. part of me will always belong to you i think... it was the love that never came to be."
"you loved me?"
"i think it was possible for me to love you one day, i still think it's possible if the future has a different plan for jeongin and i... but as of right now, im in love with jeongin, and i don't want to ruin that." hyunjin truthfully told the boy, not knowing about the prying ears in the hallway.

jeongin slowly stepped into the room, seeing hyunjin sitting on seungmins bed whilst seungmin cried beside him.
"seungmin?" jeongin spoke, making both boys snap their heads in his direction.
"jeongin..." hyunjin stared at the boy in shock.
seungmin leaped up from his bed and ran into jeongin's arms and he cried out numerous apologies.
"it's okay seungmin, im not mad... it's okay." jeongin rubbed the boys back gently as he held him in his arms.
jeongins eyes trailed upward, locking with hyunjins eyes which seemed to be filled with sorrow.
"im sorry..." hyunjin mouthed, jeongin just shot back a weak smile, knowing it wasn't his boyfriend fault.
after what jeongin heard hyunjin say, he knew he couldn't be upset with the latter.
he really wasn't upset with either boy. he wanted to blame seungmin, but he couldn't. he wanted to blame hyunjin, but he couldn't.
there was no one to blame in jeongins eyes, feelings cannot be helped and alcohol creates poor choices... he just really wished things were different.
a.n.
