Blaine (Seven) x Reader

You and your roommate and friend Alanna are living your best lives on the dance floor of this club.

The music is hot, the drinks are good, the men aren't creeps... it's the perfect night.

You two take a breather and step away from the dance floor. Alanna goes to the bathroom while you take a seat.

A few minutes later, she comes back in a huff.

"What happened?" You ask.

"I think I saw Blaine." You scoff.

"That's ridiculous. And not funny. Blaine is dead."

"Y/N I'm serious. I saw him." She turns around. "That guy in the blue shirt."

"The one that's leaving?" She nods. "You're crazy. He's dead."

"They buried an empty casket. Go after him."

High School

You impatiently lean against one of the pillars after school, staring at the bulletin board.

"Did they post it yet?" Your friend Matthew asks. You shake your head. You auditioned for the fall school musical. This year is In the Heights and you went for Nina.

"Is it posted yet?" Jocelyn, who went for Vanessa steps next to you.

"Not yet." You and Matthew say together.

Time passes and the drama teacher finally posts the cast list. A whole group of kids and faculty members flock around it, some with smiles and others with faces of defeat.

You wait a little longer before finally walking up to the paper. You see the role for Nina and run your finger to the other side of the sheet to see your name.

"I got it." You say in slight disbelief.

"Congrats. You deserve it." Matt steps up to the board. "Now... who's playing Benny?"

"Does it matter?" You ask.

"Uh yeah. You have to kiss the guy. We have to make sure he's not ugly." He runs his finger across. "Blaine Anderson. Who's that?"

"Me." A voice says behind you. Both of you turn around. "I'm Blaine."

"Y/N."

"It's nice to meet you. I guess I'll see you next week in rehearsal."

You follow the guy outside the club.

"Blaine?" You call out to no answer. The man turns a corner into an alley and you follow. "Blaine!" No response.

You know there's only one way to find out if it's really him.

"When the sun goes down." You say. The man stops.

"When the sun goes down." He says softly. You gasp.

"When the sun goes down." You say again. The man turns around and it is Blaine. "Oh my—"your hands quickly cover your mouth in disbelief.

"Y/N." He says. The two of you rush to each other and meet in the middle.

"You're really here. You're alive. How is that possible?"

"I faked it." He says.

"Why?"

"It's a long story. It doesn't matter. All that matters is this. Right now." The two of you hold each other for what feels like hours.

"I couldn't go. I couldn't go to the funeral. Body or not, I couldn't see you like that."

"I know." Your eyes shoot open.

"What do you mean you know?"

"I-I mean I know that you don't like funerals so I figured you didn't." You pull back and look at your ex boyfriend.

"You went to your own funeral?" You shake your head.

"What? I stayed far away. It's a good thing you didn't go. You probably would have seen me." You smile.

"I probably would have." You fall back onto his chest.

You and Blaine started dating during rehearsal and your first kiss was on stage. Everyone waited to see the two of you perform together. You were the highlight of the show, more than Usnavi and Vanessa. Most people stopped calling you by your real names, they called you Benny and Nina.

The two of you stayed together until he came back from Afghanistan. He had so much survivors guilt after his team died. He didn't want to put you through the ringer so he though it would be best for you two to break up.

And while you didn't understand why he did it, because you were willing to stay with him no matter what, you respected his decision. So when you heard he died, you felt guilt yourself but here he is alive and in your arms.

[Blaine:]

When the sun goes down

You're gonna need a flashlight

You're gonna need a candle...

You look up at him.

"Come on." He urges. "One more time." You chuckle.

[You:]

I think I can handle that

[Blaine:]

When you leave town

I'm gonna buy you a calling card

[Blaine/You:]

'Cuz I'm falling hard for you

[You:]

I go back on Labor Day

[Blaine:]

And I will try to make my way

[Blaine/You:]

Out west to California

[Blaine:]

So we've got this summer

[You:]

And we've got each other

Perhaps even longer

The two of you sway to the music in your heads.

[Blaine:]

When you're on your own

And suddenly without me

Will you forget about me?

[You:]

I couldn't if I tried

[Blaine:]

When I'm all alone

And I close my eyes

[Blaine/You:]

That's when I'll see your face again

[Blaine:]

And when you're gone

You know that I'll be waiting when you're gone

[You:]

But you're here with me right now...

[Blaine:]

We'll be working hard, but if we should drift apart

[You:]

Benny...

[Blaine:]

Lemme take this moment just to say...

[You:]

No, no...

[Blaine:]

You are gonna change the world some day...

[You:]

I'll be thinking of home...

[Blaine/You:]

And I'll think of you every night

At the same time...

Blaine kisses you for the first time since the breakup and sparks fly left and right as butterflies fill your stomach.

If you could capture this moment in a photo or put it in a locket and carry it with you everywhere you go, you would pay anything to have it.

[Blaine:]

When the sun goes down

[You:]

When the sun goes down

[Blaine:]

When the sun goes down

The song the two of you sung many times comes to an end, and you both stand in silence.

"Now what?" You ask.

"You know what. I have to go." You sigh.

"I know." Your voice shakes.

There's a reason he faked his death. And for that, you know the two of you will never be able to get back together or make things the way they were.

"I am so glad I can hold you right now." Blaine says. "I've wanted to do this for so long. I've dreamt about this moment. I am so sorry for what I said—"

"Shh. I know you are. I love you."

"I love you too. I always will."

The two of you kiss for the final time and pour all of your emotions into it.

He pulls away but you keep your eyes closed. You don't want your last image of him to be of him walking away.

"When the sun goes down." He whispers in your ear followed by a kiss on the temple.

You wait a couple seconds before opening your eyes to see nothing in front of you.

"When the sun goes down." You say softly. You wait to hear it again to seal your tradition, but there's only silence.

You pull yourself together and go back into the club and find Alanna.

"Well?" She asks urgently. "Was it him?"

You shake your head.

"No." You lie. "It wasn't." Alanna's shoulders slump.

"I'm so sorry honey. I for sure thought it was him." You sit down next to her and wipe your tears as you think back to the encounter. "Let's go home." You nod in agreement and the two of you leave the club.

Blaine watches you and Alanna hail a cab and climb in. He just had to get one last look. And he wishes things could be different.

Who knows, maybe one day he can come back from the dead or maybe you'll fake your own and join him. But until then, he will never stop loving you.
